Motorcyclist Rescued From Underneath Burning Car Speaks Out About Good Samaritans Who Saved His Life

A motorcyclist who was trapped under a burning car earlier this week was saved by a group of good Samaritans. On Fox News Thursday, Brandon Wright spoke out from his hospital bed about the ordeal and the men who rescued him.

According to Wright’s recollection of the fiery crash, he swerved to avoid hitting a car but knew it was too late.

Fox News Insider adds:

From that point, he says he blacked out, then came-to for five seconds while he was trapped under the burning car. He blacked out again and woke up to a man in a green shirt kneeling over him, speaking to him and trying to keep him awake. Without that man, Wright says he doesn’t know if he would have hung in there.

He suffered a broken tibia, fibula, pelvis, some vertebrae, burns to his right leg and “some gnarly road rash.” He said he could not be more grateful for the heroic actions of the people who saved him.

    How about an interview with the guy in the suit, who stood their with his hands in pockets, just watching. Ask him if he would have helped if his son or daughter was under the car, instead of standing their with his thumb up his ass.

    Another motorcyclist moron who races around dangerously and refuses to wear a helmet. Innocent people risked their lives and how much of our tax dollars will have been spent on this accident and his injuries. Idiot.

      No mention of head injuries. Luckily he has the choice whether or not to wear a helmet, not a GOVT mandate. When we start whining about potential cost to other people we start sounding just like BarryO and his crowd.

      Yip. He should’ve had his hearing partially blocked, his peripheral vision impeded, & added weight on top of his neck to help the whipping action of a crash make breaking his neck more likely. …& no choice but to wear the stupid helmet. Then he’d be safe & we’d all be better people for making his choice for him.

      Don’t see where a helmet would have helped. If he had one on then probably would have died. Helmet would not have fit under the car so 100% impact energy would have been on head neck area. Instead his legs and back absorbed most of the energy impacting under the car. Best escape from this collision is to jump vertical from the bike and let it hit. Momentum would have carried him over the hood, then he would have needed a helmet for the landing :-)

      Having done something similar to this except as @ORIGINALBWAD astutely suggested, launched myself over the car rather than sliding under it, I can tell you 4 things:
      1) @HANK919 is dead on
      2) This guy clearly defied the odds to still be recognizable and should have (voluntarily) worn a helmet
      3) It is encouraging that there are still brave, compassionate heros out there
      4) The true idiot was driving the BMW. All cost should go to him, not any government.

      The guy driving the BMW was making a left turn and failed to yield to the motorcyclist who had the right of way. Yes, he should have had a helmet on, but he wasn’t racing around wildly.

      I did’nt hear him thank anyone in this segment, only to say he would like to meet the man in the green shirt, I am sure he thanked those people, just not in this clip, and who knows he might even of thanked God as well.

      Where was God when this accident happened? Why wasn’t God looking out for this young man? Does one thank God for an accident that could have been avoided if God had intervened like everyone thinks he does? The HUMANS helped this man not God. How does one thank someone for not helping? I believe in God but I believe he picks and chooses whom he wants to help. That is obvious daily with so many suffering horrible deaths at the hands of others. Why does God not help those suffering BEFORE their suffering happens? Why does God allow babies and young children to be tortured until they finally die? Why does he not step in and stop the abuse? Are we suppose to wait until someone comes to the aid of these suffering children and THEN thank God for that person to come along?

      SNOWFLAKE220 – I’m really tired of people thinking God should be this wishing well genie that does everything for everyone, GOD’S NOT A COMMUNIST! The whole reason we are able to make our own decisions is because God wasn’t satisfied with only angels that have perfect lives and live in a paradise. I‘m sorry your weren’t created in heaven, not my problem but you do have the opportunity now to live the life you want, out of slavery to anyone. He allowed His child, his son, to die so that you’d have freedom, but all you want is to be someones slave and have spiritual life insurance and spiritual healthcare. Grow up are realize that freedom is good, better than slavery. We are here to be good to each other, not for God to be good to others for us.

      Sorry Iowa, we don’t do that in Utah. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying Iowans would, but, we appreciate each other in Utah, we aren’t trying to take advantage of one another, especially someone who would help us out of danger.

    Yeah woo!!!! I am from this area. My people respect and care for one another. We are solid true blue family friendly folks. We all look out for each other in ways most of the rest of the world can’t even imagine. If the country were run like Utah is, we wouldn’t have a miniscule percent of the problems we have today.     Great story of hope for the human soul, seemed like regular folks joined into the rescue, god Bless them all for saving that guy. Thank god he didn’t crash in my state NY, his chances of survival would have been lower.

    Back in the 80′s, my son begged for me to get him a road bike. Just about every week I cut out an article from the newspaper of a biker who had crashed and most didn’t live. These articles were kept on the refrigerator door to remind my son why I said no. He was in motorcross and had a dirt bike only. This young man was very lucky to survive such a terrible crash with the help of good people.

      Cherynn, You are quite right that Americans take care of Americans! But, it is my experience that Americans take care of anyone and everyone that they come in contact with that need help! That group of people would have performed their miracle regardless of who was under that burning car, even if it were the barber’s cat! There are cases where people have been left unaided, but by and large, Americans can be counted on to disply courage, organization, determination, decisiveness, initiative, etc. We have an innate sense of our freedom and project that on everyone we encounter. It is so ingrained that we cannot understand those who have not experienced our freedoms. We just had a case here in Virginia where a convenience store patron took action to clobber an armed robber with a beer bottle after witnessing the robber begin to fire around and at the counter clerk! This Good Samaritan was shot repeatedly in the melee and continued to lunge at the perpetrator, even while taking four rounds in the process! Clearly, he wasn’t thinking about himself or his personal safety–he was trying to keep another person, the store clerk, from being killed!

      Ahh Ducky thank you for reminding me of Paul Harvey…….I remember as a kid in my folks house hearing him on the radio……..he always said Good Day (right?) @ the end of his message with an upwards inflection on the word day……..he had an oratory gift like no other.

    Brandon. Glad to see that you came out of this in reasonable shape. My nephew was killed a few years ago, riding with no helmet. Get a helmet, son. I’m an old man and I have had several bikes in my life. As long as there are bad drivers there will be danger to bikers. Please, son, get a helmet.
