Forget Bravo’s “Real Housewives” franchise. There’s a new series in town.
Christian evangelist Ty Adams has produced a two-part DVD series entitled, “Real Housewives of the Bible.” Rather than fussing over cat-fights, makeup and money, the characters in Adams’ series (each will represent a different Biblical character) will be coping with real life issues. CNN’s Belief Blog has more:
Adams said that “outrageous reality shows” like Bravo’s “The Real Housewives” series and VH1’s “Basketball Wives” inspired her to create a more wholesome version of the franchise.
“I was frustrated with what I was seeing,” she said. “A lot of society is looking towards programming to educate them on relationships and these shows haven’t effectively done that.”
“They have ruined and tainted our ability to secure good relationships and to make women into good wives,” said Adams, who is based in Detroit.
Below, see a brief promo video for an associated “Real Housewives of the Bible” event back on May 28th:
On her web site, Adams describes the series in-depth and presents some of the real-life issues it covers:
From adultery, divorce, and unfulfilled expectations, the drama continues as we share the struggles of several married women as they attempt to maintain their status as wife through troubled seasons of marriage with trust, stability, and doubtful times as to why they even became a wife in the first place.
So, the “Real Housewives of the Bible” will show women how to be good wives, while striving to maintain relationships in the midst of trials and tribulations — an uplifting message, indeed.

Posted on July 6, 2011 at 12:00amI don’t think Christians have to look and act like that to be relevant. But just like Jesus ate with tax collectors and sought out the lowly, so should Christians today. We don’t need to hide from the world.
Maybe the effort should be on helping those with the eating disorders, depression, addictions and mental illnesses associated with the “housewife”, drama queen lifestyle. — Catch people on the downside –when they hit bottom –and offer the help when they realize they need it. Not while they are still blind and don’t want help.
Joyce Meyer has a good ministry that addresses today’s problems for men and women. And she’s entertaining too!

Posted on July 5, 2011 at 11:24pmWhy not watch a few episodes first before judging? There are many ways Christians do try to reach others for Him. And–it’s OK to make money, too. ;-)

Posted on July 5, 2011 at 10:43pmI suppose everyone would be more comfortable if they wore burqas?
So the world judges people based on their appearance…but Christians here so clearly are not paying attention to how those ladies are dressed *cough*.
Remember how Jesus stoned that harlot? Yeah, go get em.
Boom. Winning.

Posted on July 5, 2011 at 11:26pmWH: Jesus did not stone anyone. You also apparently did not read some of the posts here that did criticize the ladies attire. You do not know what you are talking about. I think you are here with the sole intent of criticizing God’s son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Winning? I think not. God bless you. You are on a precipice. What is you free will choice?

Well, I‘m a born again speaking in toungues christian of the catholic persuasion and it doesn’t make mockery of me in the least. Primarily because I haven’t had a subscription to TV since my divorce in 2002. (Unlike most Catholics, I’m not getting an anulment unless the exwife seeks one, I won’t stop her, I don’t date and am uninterested in marraige again for my part.)
Why anybody would give somebody else that kind of power over themself to be made a mockery of by another person implies a weak will and low self esteem to me.
TV is a huge waste of time. I’d rather change the oil on my car, hunt, fish, water ski, pay down debt, go to church, read the bible, canning, target practice, mountain bike, geocache, camp, mountain bike, feed my starving children, help my kids with their homework, go grocery shopping with my kids, watch my daughter play softball, watch my son play hockey, smoke meat on my smoker, cook a tasty meal for me and the kids, change the brakes on my son’s car, watch my daughter sing in the school choir, workout on the bowflex, make smores with the kids and their friends at the fire pit in the back yard, reload more ammo, collect silver and gold coins and bars, track wolves and turkeys in my neighborhood, blow snow off mine and my neighbors driveway, drink beer, balance my checkbook, etc infinitem.
Honestly, who the heck has the time for boring tv much less be offended by it? People allow themselves to be offended for the stupid

Posted on July 5, 2011 at 8:48pmThe real housewives of the bible were property of their husbands, could not preach, talk in the temple or wear jewelry there. Their husbands were also allowed more than one wife. This should be another distortion of what the bible really teaches if one actually reads it.

Posted on July 5, 2011 at 8:40pmEr, Christian housewives, not according to God.
1 Peter 3:3
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes.
And we are only talking about the outward appearance and the producers cannot even get that right.

Posted on July 5, 2011 at 8:29pmI have one of those kinds of wifes. Best thing that ever happened to me next to the day Jesus forgave me. After having a wife with godly character there is absolutely no woman of the world who could ever compete with her. If she doesn’t know Jesus and fear God a wife like that is worthless in my opinion !

Posted on July 5, 2011 at 8:17pmThis is a complete waste of time. Any Christian who walks with the Lord on a daily basis would not be interested in a show like this. This sounds like nothing more than a money making venture. Adams should be ashamed of himself and scuttle his plans.

Posted on July 5, 2011 at 8:01pmSince they are on the subject…….real housewives, I have to say I have never watched the show but have seen the commercials. That was enough. Those people are not from the real world, at least I hope not. That show and others……snooker and others I have only read about, in my oppinion, are very distructve viewing. Lotus.

Posted on July 5, 2011 at 7:14pmTwo thoughts: 1) Give me an f’n break! 2) kinda’ nice that the biblical perspective is provided on an internet channel that one must actively decide to view not just stumble onto … (personally, if my wife were to be vain enough to do this we would have never to been together in the 1st place)

Posted on July 6, 2011 at 10:28amI wonder who the real housewives will be, I recommend Dinah, Rahab, and Jael. They’ll show ya how to be a good wife. lol! Talk about trying to bring the bible into compliance with our culture. But, hopefully they do something to build the Kingdom.
