MSNBC Analyst Feels Worse for American Man Losing His Job Than for Muslim Woman Being Stoned to Death

Afghanistan and our military commitment in that region was the subject of a fifteen minute discussion on MSNBC’s Morning Joe today. Aside from the questions many of us are asking (including the Secretary of Defense) about what event or events will finally trigger an exodus of the thousands of American men and women currently serving in the region, the conversation took a bizarre turn. Following a report on a drone mission that went wrong, accidentally killing nine children in Afghanistan, host Joe Scarborough made this very dire prediction.
“We are creating generations of terrorists right now by our actions… We think it’s a clean war? We think a drone war is a clean war? It is the messiest of all wars because what we are doing over there will lead to bombings in the United States of America over the next decade.”
Scarborough’s dark prognosis is not without validity as we have evidence that past American military actions have been used to recruit potential terrorists and martyrs. However a bit later in the conversation contributor Mike Barnicle made this very bizarre statement saying that he felt worse for a man who loses his job than he does for a woman in Afghanistan who is stoned to death for winking at a man.
Who would you feel sorry for? The man who lost his job or the woman caught flirting in town and then buried up to her neck and stoned to death?

But as a practical matter, it is far easier to create jobs in America than it is to keep women from being stoned in Afghanistan.
Cheaper, too: after 10 years, it is no longer worth the life of a single American soldier or the expenditure of a single US dollar to go on protecting Afghan women.
I suppose in his muddled way, that is what Scarborough was trying to say.

My face would have dropped if someone said that to me – for one the comparison is so off the wall and for another, it essentially says a women brutally slain (tortured to death, painfully) for no reason is less than a man losing his job with little prospect of finding another at the same level of pay.

Do you seriously think people responding to this story are being irrational because they FEEL that brutally killing a woman for the sightest reason might be worse than sitting on unemployment for 99 weeks because you won’t take any job but the one you wanted? There are alot of jobs out there that people won‘t take because those jobs don’t appeal to them. Those women who are stoned are DEAD I don’t care if they are thousands of miles away they are still human beings who are tortured for any small act of disobedience. I know it’s only the minority of Muslims (about 100 million) who think like this but we can’t just let them go on killing us anywhere and everywhere they please now can we?
No matter what we do (short of converting to Islam), whether we are nice and kiss their a@# (like Obama) or we go after them forcefully (like Bush) they are going to continue trying to kill us. Even you greenbooger.
