Cain Confirms: I’ll Make Make an Announcement In Georgia on Saturday

MSNBC is reporting Herman Cain is set to make a major campaign announcement in Georgia on Saturday. The outlet says Cain’s press secretary told NBC of the development. It’s news Cain himself has confirmed, despite conflicting reports from his campaign.

From MSNBC:

Alfredo Ortiz, a Georgia-based press secretary with the Herman Cain campaign tells NBC News that Herman Cain will make a “major announcement” tomorrow in Atlanta at his new campaign office in DeKalb County.

Ortiz would not allude to the nature of the announcement other than to say it is a “major announcement.”

Cain to Make Major Announcement on Saturday

The current breaking news on the front of MSNBC.

It’s unclear what the announcement will be, but there has been speculation that Cain could drop out of the GOP presidential race after yet another accusation of impropriety with a woman surfaced this week.

Cain has previously said he will be meeting with his wife to discuss the future of the campaign tonight. It‘s possible today’s news could be a teaser for an announcement on his campaign’s future and that the announcement could go either way at this point, depending on how the meeting with his wife goes.

But according to Washington Post sources, the campaign could be over:

Embattled presidential candidate Herman Cain is inviting his top supporters and donors to Atlanta on Saturday for a meeting in which he will give them advance word of whether he intends to continue his campaign, sources close to the campaign said Friday.

One supporter who has been summoned to the private session said he believes that Cain is likely to announce he is ending his candidacy.

Another who has been invited to the morning meeting says attendees have been told he has made no decision, but wanted to meet with some of the supporters to express his gratitude.

Several sources indicated that Cain is likely to announce his plans publicly at a news conference after the meeting.

Still, there are reports that the announcement could simply be to note the opening of a new campaign office in his home state. In fact, Cain spokesman JD Gordon told ABC News the campaign has no plans to make the announcement tomorrow. “Instead, Gordon says,” according to ABC, “Cain plans to open his Georgia headquarters and talk to supporters about his reassessment.”

But that seems to be in direct contradiction to what Cain himself said Friday only moments later. During a campaign stop in South Carolina, Cain said he would, in fact, make an announcement about the future of his embattled presidential bid on Saturday:

“My wife and family comes first. I’ve got to take that into consideration. I don’t doubt the support that I have, just look at the people that are here. We’ve got to look at what happens to contributions and we’ve got to re-evaluate the whole strategy,” he said.

He then added: “Tomorrow in Atlanta, I will be making an announcement, but nobody’s going to get me to make that prematurely. That’s all there is to that.”

This is a breaking story. Updates will be add.

If Herman Cain stands with his wife…whatever their decision…shows that he knows what the priorities are ! Gloria Cain has a lot of class and I do not see her giving in to the “Left side” garbage. The nasty politicians and their control of the lives of others, for their own profit, .needs to come to an end in America ! Haven’t we all seen more than enough of this the last 20 yrs.? The last 3 yrs. have been a big awakening for many, many of us Americans. Watching the destruction of our society, with the method of greed, jealousy, fabrlications, and delliberate redoing of our foundation ! How each of us choose..will deternine what happens to our Republic…It is just not be the 2012 election that will be the only determining factor!!!

      2. Did you know Bush is a lot like you-a progressive-albeit I will take him over the Marxist we have in office right now.
      3. Are you aware that the all wars the U.S. with the exception of two have been with Leftist leaders in charge. Are you aware the Hedge fund managers who are involved in the recent collapses are leftists, are you aware that MOST entitlements (welfare) were spear headed by leftists.

The whole thing is very sad. But if he was giving out cash to a female friend – unknown to his wife, it don’t look so good….

Some men have lots of female “friends.” Sometimes the wife knows and just doesn’t care.

Sometimes she finds out and there is a major blowout.

Occasionally, no one suspects a thing until all those strange crying women show up at the funeral home.

Also heard last night that other chick from Chicago has had eviction proceedings started on her for owing over $7,000 in back rent….just saying.

      JROOK…

Obviously you need to “think here”… You started out by attacking the OP for not stating FACTS… Then you follow it up with YOUR OPINION about his lawyer’s statement… Just an FYI… Offering your OPINION is not fact, it is only opinion… Furthermore, I have never claimed to like Cain… I do, however, like bashing dimwitted TROLLS that think their OPINION is FACT…

      Have a nice day, genius…

@Obama_Sham oh ok tiger. The lawyers statement stands on its own. My comment about it had nothing to do with an opinion. Are you even aware of his statement and how damaging it was. As far as your need to vent anger, go home and kick you dog. My original statement stands. I hope investigation continues after he decides to leave the race. Not that he would do that just to end the investigation. A 13 year affair is a tough thing to cover up and if someone stays on it the truth will come out.

      @JROOK,

Nope I do not know for a fact that the claims are baseless. I was making an educated guess at what HIS STATEMENT would be.

All this political garbage tends to follow certain patterns.

I am/was a Cain supporter. I wish he could fight this fight. But he doesn’t have to convince those of us who already like his ideas. He has to convince 51% of the nation-at-large. The cloud of doubt has made it impossible for him to do so.

Do I know for a fact these accusations are baseless? No. And that’s the problem. How do you prove a negative? It becomese a numbers game. X number of white ladies said they were groped by you versus Y number of people who have know you for years and vouch for your character. i.e. “Herman would never do that…”

Ask John Edwards passionate supporters how that worked out for them.

We have to pick the BEST person with the BEST chance to defeat Obama. Obama must go. No matter how much I like Cain or believe he is innocent, I have to pick somebody else now.

@ExpertShot All interesting points. And might be meaningful but we will have to wait and see. A 13 year affair is tough to cover up. But generally when you help a woman friend by giving them money over a period of time you would tell your wife….Just saying.

@romadave Understood, except the get rid of Obama for sure part. It is interesting to note that sexual harassment and affairs are what comes out regarding Cain, rather than Perry, Paul, Romney, etc. So that might say something, not sure. I am an independent who voted for Obama. No doubt he is a deer in the headlights at this point. Unfortunately we have the best politicians money can buy on both sides of the isle. We are in need of someone who will come into government and really take action. We need to control spending and begin to pay down the deficit. And that can only happen with a mixture of spending cuts and tax rate, deductions and credit adjustments. SS and Medicare are not the problem at this point because they are self funding (although need to be adjusted) and still solvent on paper. The problem with them is the federal government borrowed the money. The point is the deficit is coming form somewhere else ad defense is one of the primary areas, particularly the unfunded wars. Most of the ideology on here and in DC is worthless and will not fix the problem. We need someone who comes in for one term and tells everyone what fixing this issue really means. It means less spending and higher tax revenue, some of which is earmarked for paying off the debt the baby boomers and me generation has run up. Too many large corporations use the Federal government as an ATM. Defense contractors and big pharma for example.

“The statement from his lawyer regarding the affair didn’t sound like a clear denial.“ AND ”But the statement from his lawyer was less than a convincing no.”

On one hand, it didn’t SOUND like a clear denial and on the other hand it was LESS THAN a convincing no… Either way you slice it, your statements are still OPINION… Until Cain admits to it or it is proven with FACTS, and not your grandiose OPINIONS, you may want to shy away from attacking people for not stating FACTS while stating only OPINIONS to support your argument…

My god, you are surely not that thick… Are you another split personality of Encinom/Monicne/Tifosa/JZS/OldPhoto/SimpleTruths/YourSensei/Baikonur/LiberalMarine?!?

Like previously stated… Have a nice day, genius…

Well given the fact that his poll numbers went up after the sexual harassment accusations I’d say the fact he is even considering leaving at this point tells you something about the affair. How logical is it that a woman friend he helped with money would accuse him of having an affair. And a situation of helping a friend he couldn’t share with his wife. Your right though, guilty is as guilty says and does. Again, I reference the statement by his lawyer.

Yeah, Gonzo, agree. He’d be doubling down if they were false accusations it would seem. I’d be ticked and triggered for battle.

The only issue that might negate that is an aleady hesitant wife, with health issues, that just didn’t want to go on with the circus in the media. And we do know she wasn’t aware of the financial help. I’ve helped others financially without my wife knowing, but it was always from my own allowance funds. That‘s the way you’re supposed to give…without the left hand knowing what the right hand is doing so as not to parade your charity as a hypocrite. The other side is a less charitable spouse who would rather see the money spent on them.

But we’ll see what happens. I really agree with Juan Williams, unusual as that is, that Herman is the left’s worst nightmare.

In her mind she had an affair I don’t recall her saying it was sexual in nature or am I wrong? As for the last woman you people are aware that she was in a lesbian relationship most of this time that she claims to have had a affair with Herman Cain. I will be waiting to see what his message is, my hope would be that he would have positive proof to debunk these claims against them. If this is not the case then I will have to drop my support and move onto a candidate like Rick Santorum.
