MSNBC Host Demands GOP Congressman ‘Show Me Your Christian Papers’

In one of the most bizarre exchanges seen on “Last Word,” Congressman Steve King of Iowa was grilled by a rabid Lawrence O’Donnell.

Obermann‘s replacement was all fired up after seeing a segment on Sean Hannity’s show where pollster Frank Luntz had room full of Iowans (about 25 people by my count, mostly white) and 40% of the group admitted that they thought the President was or might be a Muslim.  Some of those in the room might be represented by Congressman King and as such, Lawrence O’Donnell apparently expects the Congressman to be responsible for ALL of their beliefs.

The Iowa Congressman repeated over and over that he took the President at his word, but nothing seemed to satisfy Mr. O’Donnell, even when he clarified it this way;

“The President stood in Cairo, and spoke to the Muslim world and professed to be a Christian, if he will stand in front of the Muslim world and make that statement, I take him at his word.”

But Mr. O’Donnell was not letting go.  He then attempted a weak analogy shifting from the confusion about Obama‘s religion to questioning JFK’s nationality after he spoke at the Berlin Wall.

Point of fact for Mr. O’Donnell, Islam and it’s 1.5 billion followers, is a religion without borders, Germany happens to be a country.

    Whether Obama is a Muslim or not, he certainly told Islam what Jack Nicholson told Bill Clinton “You’re magnificent. Keep it up.”
    If Jeremiah Wright’s church of hate for America is considered Christian (Obama went there for 20 years)…
    If trampling the Judeo-Chritian-inspired Constitution is Christian…
    Then I guess Obama and King COULD claim to be Christian.

      Because we are known by our fruit. King conducted himself as a Christian in that interview. Obama does many things that would suggest he is not a born again believer. But, as you say…we can only take him at his word. It does not matter if he fools any of us, he cannot fool God.

      Agreed, Enicom. I doubt O’Donnell would turn down the chance to have Mr. Beck on his show, but Beck won’t play ball. See, in this interview, O‘Donnell is doing something Beck won’t which is have an opposing point of view on his show. Mr. Beck is great at winning a one-sided argument.

      You completely dodged my point which is that the right’s issue with Obama (and all Progressives) is the lack of honesty.

      I never said anything about his religion. It’s the left that keeps bringing it up as in the article above and in your comments.

      What matters is that if people cannot be trusted to value their word, then there is no possibility even for civility, much less civilization.

      If Obama claims that Christianity is the faith he chooses to follow, I too take him at his word.

      If you wonder why so many Christians have a problem with his policies, consider that HONESTY happens to be one of the most important foundations of Christianity – so much so that Jesus allowed himself to be crucified rather than deny his “Christianity”.

      I’m not saying that everyone on the right is perfect or completely honest all the time – far from it, but the right does seem to value honesty much more often than the left.

      Example: Obama and Hillary are avowed adherents of Saul Alinksy’s book, “Rules for Radicals” – which is nothing but a manual for effective uses of dishonesty and deception. (Alinsky even dedicated the book to Lucifer!) The left seems hell-bent on following Alinsky’s path – winning at all costs regardless of how dishonest they have to be.

      It’s not for me to judge whether or not Obama or Bill or Hillary want to be considered “Christians” – that’s between them and God, but I’d have to be an idiot or a liberal (forgive the redundancy) to not notice that dishonesty is the currency of the left.

      Allow me to enlighten you. Jesus preached give the shirt off your back to your brother if he is cold, not have the government steal your shirt at gun point and give it to another. Their is a huge difference.
      While on the subject of giving. It has been proven that although on average liberals households make more money, conservatives households give more to charity. So apparently the conservatives you wish to teach have a better grasp on the lesson you still do not grasp.

      Jesus did not teach social justice.
      Where in the bible did he say give to the government so they can give to the poor?
      This robs all involved of the spiritual growth that comes about when you chose to share what you have with a brother in need. He does not learn to be grateful, you do not learn to give. There is no brotherly love in that, and God is not glorified.
      If fact it further robs one of the opportunity to give that dollar they no longer have because it was stolen by the government.
      You should not attempt to teach what you have yet to understand.
      The pharisees could quote scripture, just like you.
      But they still did not understand what they quoted, just like you,
      And he rebuked them just like I did you.
      Although he loved them as his children unlike how I feel toward you.

      The “Dreams of My Father” were very much about his religion. Muslim. Mr. Obama’s pornagraphy writing mentor he speaks of in his book was Muslim. If Mr. Jeremiah Wright is any version of Christian, then it is a Christianity I have never been exposed to.

      Where are the Christian influences in Obama’s life? Where are the Capitalist influences in his life? Where are the Pro-American influences in his life? I see several Muslim, American-bashing, Communists and Marxists and “redistribute the wealth” types but not anyone that resembles the America I grew up in.
