MSNBC Host: GOP Candidates Want to Go Back to a Time When Slavery was CoolThe racism charges keep coming at the Republicans.

The same day actor Morgan Freeman said the Tea Party was “racist” in its attempts to get President Barack Obama out of office, an MSNBC anchor said the GOP presidential candidates would like to go back to a time when women couldn’t vote and “slavery was cool.”

Thomas Roberts’ comments came in response to former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum‘s answer during Thursday’s presidential debate about gay service members in the military. Santorum said the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell“ amounted to ”social experimentation” and, if elected, he would re-instate a similar policy.

“I get out of all of these things that many of these candidates would rather take legislation to build a time machine and go back in time to where, uh, we had, you know, no women voting, slavery was cool. I mean, it’s just kind of ridiculous,” Roberts told fellow MSNBC host Chris Hayes.

Hayes nodded slightly and murmured in agreement before adding, “I also thought was interesting about the response, he seemed to imply there is no sex in the armed forces. Basically saying, this is — everybody should be — ”

“Nothing happens on shore leave,” Roberts cut in.

“Nothing happens in the armed forces. And it was like, really? Have you talked to to any members who served?” Hayes said.

Roberts, who is openly gay, began the segment talking about the booing that was heard from the debate crowd after a gay service member asked the video question that Santorum was responding to. Roberts criticized the candidates for not denouncing the boos right when they occurred; Santorum later said he didn’t hear them from the stage.

This isn’t the first outrageous statement Roberts has uttered in the course of his duties at MSNBC. In July, he told a guest that Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann would like to “extinguish” gay people if she could.

    It‘s just not possible that people don’t like Obama, his policies, his lack of success, his never ending speeches, his never ending campaigning, the Solyndra and Light Square stuff, his apology tour, his too many vacations and golf at a time the country is struggling – Nah – according to radicals, liberals, communists, socialists – it’s gotta be racism.

      Yes, he is biracial. But what a lot of people do not realize is that when President Obama filled out his census form, he only listed “African American.” He did not list white. So according to that Census form that he filled out, people who look him up in the Census will only see “African American” listed!

Morgan Freeman was, and I do say WAS, one of my favorite actors, but when you play or support the ‘racism’ card, that’s it.       If I remember my history correctly it was Progressive Democrats that kept slavery alive since the Constitution looked forward to a day with out it. I remember the history text books of my day telling me that it was Carpet bagging Democrats from the south that kept African Freed men from voting by enacting a “POLL TAX”, it seems that taxes were even popular then. It has always been Progressive Democrats that have “LIMITED” freedom in the United States and they continue to do it with financial burdens that get harder and harder to meet every year.

      Anything requiring me to check a box that best determines my race is marked other and will write American in the space provided. In regards to Mr. Obama’s checking the box of African American in the census, I would like clarification on what exactly that is. Last time I checked, An African would be born in Africa, and an American would be one whose life began legally in this country. Now, if it is Politically correct to state all the past countries that possibly have contributed to your present born and bred American gene pool, then I will encourage all to do the same in order to keep the peace and avoid name calling. Very few here have a pure blood line and regardless of the blood line some may have, American’s where born about 235 years ago and any pure line would surely be older than that. The good news for you is all you need to do is write “said blood line American” As for me. seems my family loved to sample as many flavors of the world as possible, so much so that I am sure if I wanted to prove just how dumb all race crap is, I could possibly receive almost every govt. asst, program created and could try to create some new ones by crying the gender discrimination for all the sun tanned multi cultured males that can’t dance. I am sure there is something being done unjustly to me that would demand compensation. But that would just be silly, I still live by the your either an American or your not. They can’t stand the fact that women are allowed to do things like vote, and black people aren’t still kept as slaves.       With the advent of television the extreme left (dare Joseph McCarthy and I say Communists?) decided that propaganda was the way to ‘bury America from within’ as they proposed to do. Thus they began to penetrate the media and college faculties. From there those people hired from their own and brainwashed our children, concentrating heavily in the area of Journalism. Is it any wonder what has happened to us as they bred their own and we are not being bombarded daily with those who were brought up and taught falsehoods, which they now foster upon us? Even the minority in the media who try to fair and balance (I suppose many of whom lean to the right) have lost many of the real values because some of these have been so heavily demagogued that they seem extreme. So many of my thoughts are looked upon by my children and grandchildren as odd, simply because they are growing up being constantly fed propaganda by the media. It is sad to many of us oldies who were aware even way back as to what was happening.

    I am amazed that while the Democratic party puts most of us into “slavery” to the state, while re-writing history about slavery in the US. Read history … the Democratic party was always the party of slavery.

    I had a thought today. Obama and his minions keep repeating the mantra “pay their fair share”. I would like to ask a large protion of my fellow americans to “WORK YOUR FAIR SHARE”. I work a 60 hour work-week … and I have for the last 34 years. Every week, I work more than 2-1/2 days for the federal or state governments … and that NOT counting sales and gas tax.

    How many work-days per week are you enslaved to your government?

    Where does MSNBC get these people? It’s the Democrats that founded the KKK and Jim Crow laws. The RNC was started to stop slavery. MLK was a Republican.

    Is this guy serious? Or is he betting the small number of their viewers don’t know how to read a history book. I‘m guessing they don’t think much of their viewer’s intelligence.

    Didn’t Dicky Durbin and John “Lurch” Kerry condemn the members of the military early in the war on terror and MSNBC was all in favor of their sentiments. Now, this moron is pointing out that no one even thanked the queer for his service to his country and focused only on his sexual preferences even though he was the one who brought it to the platform.
