MSNBC Prez Admits Ed Schultz ‘Over the Top’ and ‘Crossed the Line’

A month after the Daily Beast’s Howard Kurtz reported on infighting at MSNBC over the Keith Olbermann suspension, Kurtz is revealing that MSNBC president Phil Griffin admits he has had to scold host Ed Schultz multiple times for being “over the top” and has told the host he has “crossed the line.”
Kurtz profiles the bombastic and incendiary Schultz, who actually got his start in radio as a conservative talk show host. That changed when he met his wife, who converted the former college quarterback into a liberal and now produces his three-hour radio show.
“[H]is conversion was genuine.” Don Haney, a reporter and friend of Schultz told Kurtz. But, he admitted, “to be honest, he’s got a temper. There are some people who have drawn his wrath.”
The opposite is also true — according to Kurtz, Schultz has drawn the ire of MSNBC president Phil Griffin on multiple occasions.
“There are times I tell him he goes over the top and that TV is different than radio,” Griffin acknowledged to Kurtz. “A couple of times he’s crossed the line. I said, ‘Ed, you ran down the field 100 yards and you spiked the ball. Don’t spike the ball!’”
But apparently that hasn’t phased Schultz, who thinks his rhetoric represents the thoughts of the American people: “Not to get too grandiose about it, but I really believe I’m saying things a lot of Americans want someone to say.”

Posted on December 21, 2010 at 12:25pmI am all for MSNBC and it left wing shows, it allows all of us to see just how desperate the Progressives are, as far a Schultz is concerned. Yea, he goes a little overboard but it is good to see someone how is passionate about his misguided viewpoints. However, when the anchors of MSNBC go overboard that means personal attacks this is not what these programs are all about. If the attacks are backed with evidence that would be a different story. Although, I personally can not stand any of the MSNBC anchors on one simple premise, they tell me what they want to be reality, not what is reality. all of this rapped up in a fresh meadow muffin. Do not be looking for this political rhetoric to be served at the drive thru at you local Starbucks anytime soon.

Posted on December 21, 2010 at 12:20pmI sometimes get a kick out of watching Big Ed because he truly does not have a clue about who are the “American” people. Whenever he says “ this is what the American people want” you can count that his view is involved and probably polls around 25%, yet, that is what we want according to Ed. I also recall seeing this goof in the front row of the press conference and yes, it was Matt Foley motivational speaker deja vue.

Posted on December 21, 2010 at 11:40amI agree this MSNBC ploy to suddenly ‘notice’ inappropriate behavior doesn’t ring true. Maybe Griffin is trying to rein in the insanity before Comcast comes in. The bottom line is if you roam over to a board like Yahoo, there many hysterical Schultz types lingering there. This over the top viewpoint is only shared by less than 20% of population. What they lack in numbers they attempt to make up in noise.

Posted on December 21, 2010 at 11:31amSchultz is nothing more than a whore – an opportunist that has no defined set of morals or ethics. Whoever is paying his salary is who he “loves”.
Pathetic.
If these idiots at MESS-NBC really wanted to impress me, they’d deep-six worthless dolts like Schultz instead of letting it be known they “scolded” him.

After all, he hasn’t figured out that his views are NOT those of the American people by his low ratings. He has to let himself exist in his make-believe world where vileness, crudeness, lies, and misrepresentation are good things to be envied and emulated.

The problem with the Progressives and extremists like Olbermann done gone looney is that when the hypocrisy of their own lives reaches the extreme edges of sanity; then everything and everyone else is a hypocrit to their views.
They fail to understand that they also see themselves as hypocrits to justify their own actions; the hatered has been turned inward on themselves, by themselves, to justify their own extremist views of the world.

Posted on December 21, 2010 at 5:03pmI use to listen to Ed about 6 years ago.. he was on AirAmerica he was NOTHING like he is now.. he was more of a moderate in most things.. He even had to resend his first statement about illegals being good for the country when people in the community pointed out the facts to him..about how those that hire illegals put them out of businesses because the illegals work cheaper, therefore if they didn’t hire illegals they would go broke.. he even at one time back e-verify.. don’t know what the heck happened to him must be hitting the bottle to live with that PROGRESSIVE wife of his.. now he’s just a poor unhappy man.. maybe he should consider a new wife..LOL..

What man on this planet has ever changed their views to liberalism and succeeded as a pundit to go along with it….none! Reagan was a liberal and became a conservative…then became president, Liebermann rebuked the title of Democrat for Independant, and so on and so on. The only thing I have in my house that‘s liberal is toilet paper since it’s full of crap every day.
