MSNBC’s Bashir Shouts Down Conservative Guest in Heated Argument Over Military General

There must have been something in the cable network water on Thursday, because the higher channels produced two stunning interviews that are sure to grab attention. We’ve already brought you Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s battle with Anderson Cooper. And now, we present Martin Bashir’s shoutfest with a conservative commentator.

On his MSNBC show, Bashir hosted GOP strategist Trey Hardin as part of a trio of guests. At one point, the conversation turned to Joint Chiefs Chairman General Martin Dempsey seemingly calling out those former service members who have criticized the president for security leaks. That’s when Hardin pointed out that the comment is somewhat expected since Dempsey serves the president directly. And that’s when Bashir started shouting.

Mediaite has the quotes:

Bashir did not take kindly to that remark: “I’m sorry, I cannot allow you to cast such a contemptuous aspersion against a senior military officer by demeaning his service to this country. Will you please take that comment back?”

“I did not demean his service at all,” Hardin said with a laugh.

“You did by suggesting that the only reason he said that was because he serves the president,” Bashir shouted back in response. Would you please take that comment back?”

“Let me answer,” Hardin insisted, but Bashir kept asking him to take back his original comment.

“Hey, i know that you respect democracy and people’s freedom of speech,” Hardin began to respond before being cut off by an increasingly irate Bashir: “Sir, he serves the United States of America.”

“These retired military have a right to vote and advocate,” Hardin got in before Bashir decided to cut him off once and for all.

“Okay, Trey, you’re not going to take the comment back,” Bashir snapped while Hardin laughed. “Thank you very much.”

And here’s the video. Notice how Bashir poisons the well at the beginning by calling the servicemen “swift boat groups”:

Time after time, Bashir has shown himself to be just another socialist. He doesn’t even try to hide it anymore. All he’s doing is trying to score points with his audience of 3 people. It makes them think he supports the military when he actually despises them.

The only people he’s relevant to are his 3 viewers and his taskmasters at the WH.

LOL, here I sit watching Marty for his laugh-ability factor. And, as I expected practically everything mentioned so far has lead into his calling Mitt a birther….LOL! Oh how despicable and cowardly it was for Mitt to mention his birth place today. Had a bit of Limbaugh tossed in as a bit of spice. Nothing substantial, just Rush’s name. Hehehe, now Mitt is trying to become president so that he can end parts of the tax code so that HE can then not just pay a lower tax rate, but absolutely ZERO! That was from one of his guests, and I was at first wondering where they find these characters, but hey, its BSNBC.

Dempsey is someone who considers himself Irish-American. Do Conservatives consider themselves hyphenated Americans? I know most of my heritage, but I just call myself American – nothing else. Who cares where my great-grandparents were born? Where they were from is totally foreign me. I’m 100% American, 0% Liberal. Apparently, Liberals don’t consider themselves entirely American even if they were born here. Liberals have a divisive mentality. I will never allow anyone to label me only half American, that’s what Liberals do.

@ SHIROI…..I completely agree with you. Liberal thinking is usually divisive in nature for several reasons. First of all, they see the world as grossly unfair not because of personal shortcomings or irresponsibility, but because of oppression & “racism”. They believe that the “playing field” needs to be made fair by govenrment force or compulsion through taxes, penalties, and social programs. Although they deny it they believe that successful rich people only became that way by taking advantage of the lower class of people. Of course, I post in generalities, but I believe that this is a fair assertion in a general sense. What they fail to understand, usually because liberal thinking does not have any room for God and his standards of morality, is that many people find themselves in poverty because of their own actions or lack thereof. Even though the US has directed more money toward poverty and social programs for the “poor” than any civilization in the history of mankind both governmentally and privately, the problem has changed very very little in the last 50 years, perhaps even becoming worse. It is the breakdown of our families that is the number one predictor of poverty. It is the erosion of our moral foundations that made us great to begin with that have been constatntly attacked by liberal/social thinking even though socialism has proved a failure over and over around the world. In short, their “god” is this world and salvation comes via the gov’t

Serving military personnel have many of their rights constrained by their active service. They are not allowed to publicly criticize the Commander-in-Chief, for example; it is prohibited by the military services’ legal rule book, the UCMJ. Retired military people, on the other hand, have the same rights as any other American citizen, and if they want to be publicly involved in politics it is their constitutional right. Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dempsey is simply wrong to say that retired members of the SpecOps community cannot and should not hold the President responsible for the security leaks on the bin Ladin raid currently being investigated in Washington. He IS still on active duty and should be prohibited from making political statements in support of his President and the Obama White House and criticizing his detractors.

@Quiltgal, RLTW, Joel Beemer…all great comments. The Generals job is to support the policies of the commander-in-cheif. The fact that this presidents policies are contrary to the well being of the services as a whole would lead me to believe that the General couldn’t care less about the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coasties, he ultimately leads, but instead, cares more about his career. The fact that he had said nothing about the Ohio law suit or any other attempt to marginalize the voting rights of service personnel speaks volumes about his priorities. “Yes man” indeed. He should be respected for his service, but as with many officers who get to Colonel and above, he has lost sight of his real responsibilities, the mission and the personnel and sold out both for the position he holds.

Some words of caution: Do yourself a favor don’t bother. Bashir is the kind of comedian that makes most normal thinking people want to thow up, not laught. He’s the joke, and a not so funny one. See, Joe is a looser who so wants to be relevant. He tries to be cool. but he’s not. He‘s the person who photoshops himself in with famous people who don’t even know who he is. Martin is the kind of guy you‘d find lurking around the little boy’s gym at a middle school near where he lives. I’m to understand he has used bicycle seats strewn all over his house (he openly brags of his collection). You know when he’s near, you can smell his breath from a mile away. There‘s a famous study that shows nine of ten wanabe newscasters tried ’camels’ and went back to their wives. Martin is the one who didn’t.

Just a friendly warning, proceed at you own risk!
