MSNBC’s Chris Matthews Celebrates MLK Day by Vilifying Whites

MSNBC host Chris Matthews took to the airwaves early to promote a special episode he hosted Monday evening — titled “Obama’s America: 2010 and Beyond” — that reflected on President Barack Obama’s first two years in office.
Confused as to why all American don’t proclaim support for the Obama presidency, Matthews highlighted a segment of his special which featured two older men offering conflicting views of the president’s job performance. After the segment, Matthews pointed out that “older Americans,“ specifically ”older white people still have a problem with this guy.”
“That‘s a generalization and I’ll stick with it,” he said.
Later during his own broadcast, Matthews again whites of being intolerant and (insultingly) asked outgoing RNC chairman Michael Steele if blacks attending Republican conventions were told to “bunch up” because “you’ll scare these people.”
“Did you fear that if you got together with some other African-Americans white guys might get scared of you?” Matthews asked Steele.
“No! What are you talking about?!” a baffled Steele — the only Republican on the panel — asked Matthews. Steele went on to point out the success of a number of black Republicans, most recently during the midterm election of 2010. Steele concluded by saying that Republicans aren’t exactly afraid of what Matthews describes as “black folk hanging together.”
Matthews’ unbelievable assumptions about whites and Republicans comes just days after he characterized an opponent of President Obama as a “cracker.”

After all, it was the citizens of the UNITED STATES, a majority of WHITES who, half a century later elected Barack Obama as President. We’ve come a long way, baby.
Leaders usually congratulate their followers for accomplishments on Landmark Days like today, and offer ENCOURAGEMENT for the future. Not beat everyone up, hurl insults, and discount efforts.

My youngest is a senior in H.S. and some of the things he has come home and told me had me chomping at the bit until I was able to call school the next day. I have spoken with the principal as well as the guidance counselor about certain teachers. Most recently was one who told the students that Gabby Giffords was shot by a teapartier.
Plus, take notice at the way Matthews talked about the young adults in a way that was pumping them up for being open minded and blind to race. Old people = stupid. Young people = smart. As long as they continue to follow without question.

- Older people weren’t raised on the constant Rhetoric prevelant in recent years extolling the graces of Liberalism/Progressivism, etc.

Matthews (who I don’t think much of) said the “older white people have a problem with Obama while younger people more open.” That’s a statement you can agree or disagree with, which is true or false, but it’s not “vilification.” It’s a statement about the thoughts of a demographic group, not a hateful characterization of that group. It’s beside my point, but are younger people of all ethnicities more favorable to Obama that older white people? And that’s a provable fact.
I watched all three videos, including the ones jovially discussing the issues with blacks and didn’t see any “vilification.”
This kind of thing appeals to many here, it’s fundamentally dishonest.

During the time of slavery, whites in the south were much more comfortable around blacks than whites in the north. However, it was whites in the north who, for the most part, advocated for an end to slavery, but the northerners did not want the blacks to go up north either. It is where the old saying comes from: Southerners love the person, but hate the race (blacks) and northerners love the race, but hate the person. When whites like Mr. Matthews wants to talk about race, they take an extremely simplistic view on the topic which does a great disservice to people of all races.
