Chris Matthews: Weiner Draws Ire of Culturally ‘Backward’ Christian Conservatives

This clip really starts out promising. On yesterday’s “Hardball,” host Chris Matthews was laying down the gauntlet for Anthony Weiner, saying that he must resign because “it’s getting very, very hard to defend the behavior, politically, of the [Democratic] party.”

So far so good.

He went on:

Now you throw on top of that immoral behavior, indiscrete behavior, embarrassing behavior, gross behavior like this, and you still have him in your midst. And that’s my question to you. If you’re Steny Hoyer, who does speak for the Blue Dogs, if you’re Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker, who has to deal with them, don’t you have to deal with the fact – you’re losing any chance of getting back a 218 majority?

Good point. Hey, I like this Chris Matthews guy.

Then he launches into this:

I want you to pick this up, Ben. This is, to me, the stakes here. If he stays, they never get the leadership back. They never get the Speakership back because the people in the rural areas of this country who are Christian conservative culturally – you can say backward if you want – but they don’t like this kind of stuff at all. They’re not part of that 56 percent in Brooklyn and Queens who say, “okay, we can live with this guy.” Your thoughts, Ben? Isn’t that the cutting edge of this? [Emphasis added]

    Ithink that we should all be like the left without a core of morality to contend with. It would be sooo much easier if we could cut down city trees, beat the crap out of other races, post photos of any body part of our choosing, impose unreasonable limitations on religion so that we dont have to suffer under the onerous presence of the ten commandments and all that is involved in being a decient human being. What a great life it would be to live out side of all the unresonable expectations of a moral socioty. Damm those narrow minded consertives.       Let’s be clear on this matter Chris and to all those in NY who want to whitewash this story claiming it is nothing all that unusual. Well maybe it isn’t to MSNBC, maybe it isn’t in NYC but to us ignorant hicks out here in the sticks what Weiner did is the equivalent of telling the world he has the sexual maturity of a five year old. In a less electronic age he would be the one standing on the street corner in the trenchcoat awaiting unsuspecting females to walk by. And if he were our Representative you are correct, We would be likely be 100% in favor of his resigning. In fact, we would likely be insisting on it (forcibly if necessary).

      For who (other than a pervert) would want to be represented by a pervert is what we’d be asking? The 9th district of NY apparently, that’s who. And from his comments I suspect ol’ leg tingling Chris Matthews would like it too.

Over the years we have been nudged and given the good ol’ wink-wink to the point that we take this type of behavior as normal, even acceptable.       A christian is a person that is born again. Has nothing to do with church attendance, baptism, denomination…. It is about relationship. When a person sees that they are a sinner, and can not get to heaven on their own.

      Those people WHO DO HAVE CHRIST and RIGHTEOUSNESS in them, will act and think just like Chris Matthews. Think about that. Look at some of these leftists. If they do attend church, look at the policies and doctrines of that church, then you will KNOW that they are evil and/or unrighteous. Christ said there was no middle ground, so you are either on the left or the right; you are either moral or immoral. Just because you AGREE with a righteous person, does not make you righteous. It makes you in NEED of Christ, if you are not a follower of Christ. Otherwise, yes, you will not live with Christ in eternity. So, let’s tell the truth here. Chris Matthews is defending an immoral person(s) and if it is any indication that you become who you follow or agree with, then that makes Chris Matthews and immoral man. And, I am not so sure I do feel sorry for his wife. I lived with someone like that years and years ago, who broke one of Christ’s law in committing adultery. I had every right to leave. I did. In Weiner’s case, even lust in his eyes is sinful. If Chris finds no fault in that, then he is also sinful and is in need of Christ’s forgiving grace, which doesn’t mean that you are excused for ever doing it again. I am just waiting for Weiner to tell us ‘I FOUND JESUS’.

      ‘Scuse me folks, I’m just a rural, backward, bible thumping, gun toting Christian conservative, so it takes a while to compute some remarks from Matthews (the tingle guy) who seems hell bent on demeaning the good people of this country. Chris mentions often about being catholic, being in church, etc. so am I to assume being Catholic and going to church exempts him from being a Christian? Sounds like it!
      Most of my early life was in the Los Angeles area. In fact that’s where I learned enough about God to dedicate my life to Jesus. Mid-30 yr. old we moved to a rural area and I found life abundant and to my liking. I wanted a farm, to grow food, have horses, chickens, etc. Didn‘t know liking the rural life made me a hick in Mathew’s eyes. Too bad Chris! I think you’re the loser to make fun of Christian people who get tired of the fake life in the city. Each visit back to Calif. makes me very happy we decided to get the heck out of there.
      Chris Matthews, you are one sicko and you’ve demeaned our God and most of us in this Country.
