MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough: ‘My Republican Party Has Lost Their Way’

Joe Scarborough on MSNBC Says the GOP has Lost its WayAs the Blaze reported yesterday, GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain seems to be Joe Scarborough’s newest electoral target.

In speaking about the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO on Monday, Scarborough said, “Herman Cain and this 999 thing is just an absolute joke.” Now, he has an equally negative opinion about the entirety of the Republican Party.

On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” this morning, Scarborough lamented the GOP‘s direction and seemed particularly bothered by Cain’s recent remarks about erecting an electric fence at the border. He told co-host Mika Brzezinski, a Democrat, that she shouldn’t be concerned about Cain (she was commenting on Cain’s controversial border-fence comments). Scarborough said:

“It’s not even your party. By the way, he hasn’t backed down from that. This is ‘exhibit 800′ over the past year of why my Republican Party has lost their way in such a serious, serious way. We laugh about it, but it is actually tragic.”

Watch these comments, below:

While Scarborough seems to think that Cain and his stances showcase the GOP’s off-kilter direction, at least for the time being, the presidential contender is capturing attention and support among the electorate. In a Rasmussen Poll released yesterday, some starting results were shared.

Among likely voters, 43 percent of voters would opt for Cain, with 41 percent claiming they would vote for President Barack Obama. Rasmussen has more about the intriguing lead Cain has secured in the polls:

Whether Herman Cain’s surge in the polls is temporary or has staying power, he’s enjoying a big enough bounce to take a very slight lead over President Obama in a hypothetical 2012 matchup. At the moment, the Georgia businessman is the only Republican with a lead of any kind over Obama, although former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has held a similar advantage several times and is currently trailing the president by just two points.

As time goes on, it seems Scarborough is separating himself more and more from the GOP. Whether this is the result of an evolution in terms of his own personal views or a change in the Republican platform is yet to be determined.

The 9 9 9 plan is a joke and any middle class individual who can’t figure out how much it will benefit the wealthy and decimate the economy should not be commenting. It is without question the most regressive tax plan in the history and sophomoric at best. Your telling me supporters think that a 16+% sales tax, federal plus most states will not destroy spending. You wanna base a tax plan on the default settings from the SIMS game. Geez his favorite answer to an in depth question about it is I don’t know how that will work. We need a graduated minimum percentage of gross income that every corporation and individual pays regardless of deductions or credits. It should range from 2.5% at the low end to 20% at the high end. If anything we should get rid of all sales taxes and place higher taxes on companies who have shipped jobs oversees. We need demand, as demand creates jobs not the wealthy. The wealthy merely invest their money where they can get the highest and safest return.

I’m amazed at the comments on this video. I checked through every comment and with the exception of 2 or 3 prior anti-Cain people, every single one ignored Cain’s comment that adding a sales tax would be the worst idea. The only focus was how they hated Joe. Who cares about Joe? What about Cain’s rejection of a sales tax in the past?

How did The Blaze get 100% of you to ignore it? Maybe I’m just like a little child that just discovered gravity.

you know i would rather have a candidate who can say… yes this is my plan and there are good and bad things… saying that i could see a national sales tax turning out bad after you get the wrong people taking stewardship… and i think it is good to have a candidate who KNOWS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A VAT, and a national sales tax… a VAT TAX, occurs AT EVERY LEVEL OF PRODUCTION AND CUNSUMPTION. SO LIKE HERMAN HAS BEEN SAYING… a VAT CREATES A HIDDEN TAXES… we have many of the same problems in todays tax code, where we have HIDDEN BONUSES FOR SPECIAL GROUPS. the 9-9-9 plan would make the accounting of these STRAIGHT FORWARD…. a national sales tax only happens at the FINAL SALE… so what is GREAT about herman cain is that HE PUT FORTH A PLAN, THAT IS A LONG TERM ECONOMIC PLAN… WITH SOLID DETAILS… you could know where your rates are, WHAT YOU WILL BE PAYING, and you can do it with simple math and NOT be FORCED to hire a TAX ACCOUNTANT just to pay taxes. ITS AWSOME TO HEAR SOMEONE SAY THIS IS GREAT AND TRY TO DEBATE IT KNOWING THAT ITS NOT PERFECT AND IDENTIFY HIMSELF PLACES WHERE IT COULD BE IMPROVED…. DONT BE PATHETIC AND TRY AND SAY HERMAN PLAN IS BAD, WHEN WE HAVE A MAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE WHO ALL HE CAN THINK OF, IN HIS INFANITE WISDOM, IS TO TAX PEOPLE MORE AND SPEND THE MONEY, ONLY AT HIS POLITICALLY FRIENDLY LOCATIONS…. IT IS TOTAL BS… and the american people are waking up that the 9-9-9 MAY NOT BE PERFECT BUT IT IS THE MOST FAIR PLAN, PROPOSED.BEAT IT

If you actually read Herman Cain’s own article thru the link above he says “a national sales tax is just a disguised VAT.”

      Look and see for yourself.

What does Cain’s 9-9-9 plan do about spending? NOTHING!

Cain above said “we don’t have a revenue problem but a spending problem” yet his 9-9-9 plan does not address spending….

if you notice, not many of the candidates are really addressing the spending issue. They are afraid to speak of it. If one would come right out, and start talking about taking public education out of the hands of the federal government, they would get my vote. Just one of many needed spending cuts.

Imigration is another topic that is full of poo. You can not talk imigration without talking welfare. Mexicans are here for a reason. They come to work, and they generally work hard. Meanwhile, we are paying foodstamps to 46 million americans, so they do not have to work. We do not need to seal the border, we need to stop the welfare, and prosecute employers who hire the non legal folks.

I suppor the campaign slogan “work or starve” if we cut out the foodstamps and welfare, Tomika and Tyrone will get up out of the hood and start working, Bubba and Claudete will get out of the trailor park and do the same.

The fact that 43% don’t pay income tax is a problem. The government shouldn’t be wasting the money on turtle tunnels and other crap. When stop spending, then we can talk about the right level of taxation.

If Ronald Reagan were alive and running today he would be tossed aside like an old bad pair of shoes. Ronald Reagan was a great president and the current GOP worships him but I don’t know why since his ideas and opinions would not be accepted today. Cain demonstrates he is nothing but a politician. Heck he is even starting to resemble Mitt Romney with his flip flops. Examples:
First he says a “national sales tax would be insane” here:
      http://www.redstate.com/thehermancain/2010/11/21/dont-be-vat-stupid/
Now his plan has a national sales tax of 9%
First he said he would install a 20 ft fence barb wire and electricity
Now it was all a joke, though it is in his book without stating he was joking.
First he told OWS to blame themselves for not being rich ( Personal Responsibility)
Then he told OWS to blame the White House and Government (Government responsible for you)
No wonder he chose Mitt “ I flip flopped more than John Kerry” Romney as his VP….Two peas in a pod!

First he said we don’t need to and those calling for an audit of it lack knowledge of what it is all about.

      Scarborough aide dies

Police have found no evidence of foul play in the death of Lori Klausutis.
By JEFF AYRES, Daily News Staff Writer
An employee of U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough was found dead in the congressman’s Fort Walton Beach branch office Friday morning, but police said there was no evidence of foul play.
A couple who was visiting the office about 8 a.m. for an appointment found Lori Klausutis, 28, of Niceville lying near a desk on the floor inside the office, located at 348 Miracle Strip Parkway.
Fort Walton Beach Police Chief Steve Hogue said Friday that a preliminary investigation into her death hasn’t turned up any evidence of foul play or trauma to her body, nor are there any outward indications of suicide.
An autopsy was done Friday to determine the cause of Klausutis’ death. The results were not available late Friday night.
Police said that there was no sign of a break-in or a struggle inside the office and nothing was believed to have been stolen from Klausutis or the office. Klausutis worked as a constituent services coordinator for Scarborough, a spokeswoman in his Washington office said Friday.

Joe was stuck at a fork in the road – he went straight. Soon he fell into a hole when an ‘aura’ of feeling totally IRRELEVANT overcame him! This made him feel sad so he made up things he did not quite believe himself just for people to pay attention to him. This quickly faded – Joe was confused about ‘forks’ ever since. The end.

Indeed, the reason Scarborough no longer sees the Republican party as “his” party, is fairly simple, he is now a part of the tow the line party with MSNBC and their progressive masters.

I feel so sorry that Joe has been so compromised. He was a member of Newt’s class of 1994 (& I believe stuck to his convictions & left after 3 terms)& is from Pensacola’s Redneck Riviera (which he always fall back on), but he has lost the strength of his convictions (NYC & such). Too bad, too sad.

The truth is Joe was once conservative and has sold his soul for liberalism because his daughter is a liberal. I saw the transition happen with him constantly mentioning his daughter. One must be willing to give up everything for the truth which is Christ himself. Joe is just denying Christ himself in denying the truth for the so called love of his daughter. He chooses his daughter over Christ.

70SKIDS..you‘re saying Joe Scarborough is denying Christ because you think he’s following his daughter’s liberal lead? I don’t think Jesus approves of politics at all, liberal or conservative… because it is all inherently corrupt.

He gave a great interview to Ron Paul today…..but make sure you don’t report that. Was supportive if not wanting more cuts that Ron Paul is immediately calling for. But lets just say that Ron is unelectable even though Dems are even agreeing with him. No, let‘s just try to rally everyone around Cain’s new sales tax. This makes me sick. A candidate who has the most conservative plan and lists the cuts he would make, is ignored by the supposed “libertarian” GB and his website. Instead he focuses on Cain who has no details of real cuts, and tries to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic with some new tax plan to rake in more for the Government.

I agree with Paul on many issues, but his foreign policies would destroy America. He is clueless when it comes to Iran. Newt is the strongest candidate on domestic and foreign policies.

Paul has some good “ideas”….but the problem isn’t the ideas…its the implementation. The military tie is due to his isolationist mentality (which sounds good….but has many unintended consequences).

      1. Your right, just look how much Iceland is regretting their decision to not get involved in foreign occupation. (sarcasm) I would say as far as “unintended consequences” go, policing the world has given us much more than leaving others alone ever has.

      2. Paul’s plan is not Isolationist, but if you repeat that enough, people might believe it.
