MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough Suspended for Political Contributions

Following an example the network set with liberal host host Keith Olbermann, MSNBC has suspended conservative host Joe Scarborough for political contributions made while he has been at the network.

The decision comes after Politico uncovered eight previously unknown $500 contributions to friends and family members running for state and local offices. Scarborough has admitted to the donations.

The donations violated a policy of parent company NBC, which bans political contributions by employees without specific permission from the network’s president.

His suspension will keep him off the program “Morning Joe” for two days.

“I recognize that I have a responsibility to honor the guidelines and conditions of my employment, and I regret that I failed to do so in this matter,” Scarborough said in a statement. “I apologize to MSNBC and to anyone who has been negatively affected by my actions.”

In that statement, Scarborough added that as soon as he was made aware of the donations he called network president Phil Griffin “and agreed with Phil’s immediate demand of a two-day suspension without pay.”

The donations, which stretch back as far as five years to 2005, are “all to Republican candidates to whom he was close who were running for state legislative seats in or near Scarborough’s hometown of Pensacola, Fla.,” Politico reports.

Politico initially uncovered five political donations by Scarborough, but when it contacted the morning host about them he discloses three more.

Griffin and MSNBC took similar action against host Keith Olbermann earlier this month when it was revealed he donated a total of $7,200 to three different Democratic candidates this election season.

But that suspension included much more drama. Originally Olbermann was suspended indefinitely without pay. That punishment was later reduced to two days and reports now suggest that MSNBC paid Olbermann for the suspended time.

Additionally, a recent article by Howard Kurtz in the Daily Best chronicled the days surrounding Olbermann’s suspension, in which Griffin at one point threatened to fire Olbermann and told him that the two were “at war.”

By all accounts, the Scarborough suspension was without incident.

This is a breaking news story. Updates may be added.

    ALERT!

    Watch the other hand folks!

Here’s the real story we should be watching: Go to http://newzeal.blogspot.com/
scroll down and watch the video from the CEO of the John Birch Society:

EXPOSING TERRORISM: Inside the Terror Triangle

to understand better the relationship between Islamic radicalism, International/Soviet/Communist expansionism and DHS/TSA tactics/techniques, The Patriot Act, etc. etc.

It’s all designed to circumvent our constitution and eventually eliminate our civil rights by conditioning WE THE PEOPLE to voluntarily give up our civil rights in the interest of security (false security at that!).

Then check out http://www.jbs.org and http://www.exposingterrorism.com for more info.

This really makes sense to me and especially note the part about the U.S. Government’ s official goal of helping create a NEW WORLD ORDER in the report from George H.W. Bush’s administration (The National Security Strategy of the U.S. @ about 15:20 in the video)!!

Folks, things are worse than even we think I fear!

Will Mancow go on a rant tonight, oops, they do not have “news” shows on Friday nights. Will Mancow go on a rant against Fox News commentators on Monday, sticking up for Joe? Dumb question because we all know the answer but it has to be asked.

Why bother? Their entire programming is political and left-leaning. I watched the election night coverage on MSNBC. I like to scout the liberals, having been one for nearly two decades, to see what Big Brother’s Lips are saying.
Really, this is nothing to be celebrated but rather mocked. MSNBC thinks this will somehow make them more credible. Credibility would require them to offer more views than: Socialist, Communist, Left-Wing, and Democrat.
(All of which pretty much fall under the umbrella of Progressive. And no, Obama2012, I am not parroting Glenn… I learned about the Proggies and their hide and seek games when I was still a teenager. I read voraciously, with a focus on History and social study. It wasn’t until I listened to Obama for months, during his campaign, that I put it all together and jumped off that Progressively sinking ship. It’s good to be among Honest people again.)

actually Joe gave to R candidates:

OpenSecrets.org reveals that MSNBC host Joe Scarborough and MSNBC contributor Pat Buchanan have also made contributions to political campaigns.

In March 2006, Scarborough, who hosts the show Morning Joe, gave $4200 to Derrick Kitts (R-OR). And, as the Daily Kos points out, a month later Kitts was a guest on Scarborough’s show.

Between 2005-2008, Pat Buchanan made five contributions to Republican candidates, totaling $2250.

NBC News producer Mary Murray, who also does reporting for NBC News and MSNBC, gave $250 to John Waltz (D-KY) this year. In 2008 she gave the same amount to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign.”

This is the key point, the one being made by MSNBC management. At least Scarborough waited a month before having Kitts on as a guest — Olbermann had all three of the pols that he gave money to as guests on his program as well, one the VERY DAY he made the campaign donation.

But hey, keep playing Red vs Blue if it makes you happy. We have an historic opportunity with this great President we have now. Show the world we are beyond racism and imperialism, lean forward. But no, the carnival barkers keep going and going and you’re all to blind to see it.

Funny how Beck talked about materialism the other day, but never brought up this video series (link below) by the guy who started it all. Could that be because Beck is using the same tricks on his followers?

Why do you insist that this is about race with Obama? Virtually no one is decrying him because of his race. You talk about leaning forward, into what? One world government? Abolition of sovereignty? What economic policy has this administration enacted that will or has create jobs or economic opportunities by means of free enterprise independent of government support?
You see in the end it is a fight for those of us who love this country, warts and all. We believe that man is capable of good and bad. That is why we are a country of law. Natural law. The law that says there is a higher power beyond ourselves. We are subject to those laws. The constitution was founded on those principles and that is the law of the land. Progressives think that we are a law onto ourselves that we can legislate and adjudicate according to the will and whim of man. History shows us this isn’t possible. Everywhere it has been tried ends up in tyranny and eventually collapses. When progressive ideals are usurping the power away from the people it can only end up in one place…in the hands of a few. Once that happens the adage absolute power corrupts absolutely will be the prevalent law. Barry, wittingly or unwittingly, is enacting sweeping changes that can only take us down the path to tyranny. The elite over the peasent. The nanny state that controls everything. Personally, I think to call us racist and bigots is absurd. A man’s skin color has nothing to do with his heart. We do not want nor will we accept these policies. We will stand firm and resolute against them now and for all time. Why? Because there is no greater ideal than freedom.

OMG Obama_2012, are you freakin’ nuts concerning your comments to Gonzo? Obama has done nothing to relieve any racism. In fact, if anything, he has increased the amount of racism in this country today. I guess saying that makes me a racist too, right? Well, guess what! I don’t give a damn. The only reason Obama was elected was because he was black, which was a poor damn excuse. Yes, give the poor, lowly black man a chance, and he promises to bring us change and hope. After all, it is the least we can do after having held the black man down for so long, right? Well, Obama was given that chance and millions of Americans are now regretting it. He just doesn’t know what he is doing and now the entire country is paying for it, and in a big way. Many now realize their mistake as evidenced by our recent elections, and because it was such a huge mistake, we still have to wait another two years to completely make up for our stupidity. God bless America.

Well, at least they are treating both the same – right and left – I can’t believe Scarborough thought he could get away with that. http://maboulette.wordpress.com

Shouldn’t conservative be in quotation marks? The times I‘ve seen him he doesn’t act like my type of conservative and I’m center right.

      Obama_2012,

Just because government is your “god” does not mean you are right. Government is your crutch, that’s your belief and so be it. However, if you want that then move to Europe… America has the government work for us…that is what America is about. We take care of each other, we inspire and create without government intrusion or intervention. All ideas, inventions and ingenuity were created by the dreams and sweat of the American people and NOT by your “god” the government. Choose your god/God now because you’ll have to follow it/him for all eternity.

Government isn’t my god, and neither of them is my crutch. And what do you have against crutches? Some people use alcohol, some use crack or heroin, and some use god as a crutch, that‘s their choice in a free society isn’t it?

And America hasn’t been about what you speak for a LONG time, as your Idol constantly reminds you. Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, standing army/navy? None of it is Constitutional, but you guys don’t say get rid of it do you? Just get rid of what you don’t use, right? You’re a Christian, who need Islam? You’re a rich old white person, who needs help for poor minorities?

Nobody is going to take teapeople seriously until you’re willing to give up your welfare programs and hold the Wall Street/Big Oil terrorists accountable. Until then, you’re cogs in Murdoch/Koch machine. Or should I say puppets on their strings?

You knew it was coming. MSNBC has to be seen as PC. Its just a scam to make you believe they are fair and open. But then again, does anyone even care?

MSNBC likes to keep tabs on its employees’ political affiliations.

Olbermann; Scarborough; The Right seems fine with your secret personal contributions. You might consider that out loud some time during your shows.

      You’re welcome.

Actually, I think they had to find something (anything even giving street directions) to nail someone who supported a REPUBLICAN (aka conservative). That way, they aren’t targeting a liberal unfairly.

As for the two day suspension (and possibly with pay for Olberman), I suspect the lawyers had something to say about the original “indefinite” announcement and the lack of salary. Did anyone else notice the wildly different amounts and the time spans involved? Of course, according to NBC, any amount is illegal, but KO gave a significant amount in one year, and JS gave smaller amounts over five years. Curious, no?

According to Fox News and the story- the donations were to Republicans- not Progressives.

Good for MSNBC for upholding the rules- if they did it to Olbie- they should do it to Joe.
