MSNBC’s Martin Bashir: ‘Go Home, Mr. Christie. Your State Needs You Much More Than America Does’

MSNBCs Martin Bashir: Go Home, Mr. Christie. Your State Needs You Much More Than America Does

MSNBC’s Martin Bashir never misses an opportunity to smear conservatives during his program. This time, he dedicated his “Clear the Air” segment on Wednesday to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, and the idea that Christie was contemplating running for president. Bashir’s conclusion? Christie should “go home” because his home state — now suffering 9.4 percent unemployment — needs him more than America does.

As a springboard for his attack, Bashir played a recent clip of Christie in which the governor stated:

Let me put it there isn’t an ego large enough to say, “Oh, please, please, please stop asking me to be leader of the free world. It’s — it’s such a burden if — if you could please just stop.” I mean, what kind of crazy egomaniac would you have to be to say, “Oh, please stop, stop?”

“It is a somewhat coquettish romance, not for Christie, the full-blooded commitment of a man who finds the very idea irresistible,” Bashir opened.

He then explained why he feels Christie needs to stop “flirting” with political donors and the notion of running for the highest office in the land:

Chris Christie is much more ambivalent about whether he’s fallen for the highest office in the land, and that may be because he’s already married to the governorship of New Jersey. And that’s why he really ought to stop flirting with donors on the West Coast and he should go home, home where the unemployment rate in his state is now 9.4 percent. That’s above the national average of 9.1 percent. Go home, Mr. Christie, because the rate of poverty in New Jersey has hit its highest level since 1993. 14.2 percent of the children in Mr. Christie’s state are now living below the poverty line. Go home, Mr. Christie, because the rate of murder in the Garden State has taken a massive jump under your watch, up an astonishing 16 percent in the last year alone, widely out of sync — wildly out of sync, sorry, with the nation’s rise of just 4.2 percent.

He then compared the governor‘s thoughts of entering the Republican primary to a marriage’s “seven year itch,“ save for the fact that Christie has only been ”married” to the New Jersey governorship for less than two years.

“No. Go home, Mr. Christie. Your state needs you much more than America does.”

Now, if we are to believe Christie when he has repeatedly stated that he does not intend to run for president, then Bashir’s diatribe is a moot point.

Nonetheless, what do you think, Blaze readers? If Christie did decide to throw his hat in the ring, would he be doing the state of New Jersey a disservice?

As a Jersey resident (I hate Jersey) I saw Christie beat Steve Lonegan who is much better. Oh great he yells at people and tells them what needs to be done…….that’s like saying I paid child support……you’re supposed to pay child support!!!! He beat Lonegan because Lonegan ran on a flat tax and Christie said Lonegan will raise taxes………..no ****!!! Half of the citizens don’t pay taxes. So if you enact a FLAT TAX then the poor will have their taxes raised because they don’t pay any!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glenn was way off on Christie, and I love Glenn. Christie is a politician and a progressive.

I don‘t like Martin bashir and am pretty sick and tired of Glenn Beck’s idea of who should be elected! Even Beck says he’s always wrong on who should be elected! Beck needs to get out of politics altogether, he’s terrible at it! Never sees things clearly! Chris Christie is not the right president and is in devastatingly terrible shape physically. He stood up to speak at the Reagan library and was so winded at first and sweaty that it was hard to talk! He looks awful and when he tried walking around with Obama to survey damage from the hurricane, he had a hard time keeping up and he just plain looks dangerously obese! No way I’m ever going to vote for someone who has a high chance of not living through the presidency or of being an acceptable representative of the people!

The other problem is that if we call him an ass, it could get confusing. Just too many issues, Think about it…the G8 might have to be renamed G8 1/2, and nothing worse than Christie at the head of the buffet line and the food runs out. This is not about Bashir…who cares, he is not running for anything. I hope you all do a little research on Christie and you will be surprised at how moderate he is on Free Trade, Illegal Immigration and border control. He is not the guy to be President. I have nothing against fat people, but fat Presidents, I’m not sure for health reasons would be good. Christie standing next to Putin would be an embarrassment. In order to “clear the air,” Bashir is telling Christie–who is on the way home–to go home.

Besides having a wife who doesn’t want anything to do with any of this…I’ve seen no evidence that Perry has done much of anything as governor! Things were perfectly set up for him when he became governor and he’s had absolute power in that state all this time! He’s run the place on auto-pilot’ being told what to do by advisors at every turn. Things in Texas have run the Chicago way with pay to play politics for a long time with him according to state legislators! They want him gone! How many times has Perry said something in just the last month that advisors had to walk him back on? Perry‘s arrogant and doesn’t like being told to watch his mouth! He’s getting mad, but the funny thing is, he has no one to be mad at but himself!

It is interesting that the media is still pushing Christie who has categorically stated his withdrawal from the Presidential race. In addition the media is pushing both Perry and Romney when they are trailing far behind Herman Cain who DOES NOT NEED A TELEPROMPTER, and speaks his mind, which to me addresses a lot of major issues, including his 9-9-9 tax plan which is only a step away from a flat tax. His outright stand for Israel, and his promise to deal with the illegal catastrophe.
It is almost as if the media wants those candidates that fit into the Washington D.C establishment.
I am not for any Candidate be that person an independent, Republican or Democrat if they just end up as part of the old establishment that for the last 60 years has eroded this nation.

Yeah…isn’t it interesting Cain says a lot of things but has no record to run on??? How convenient for him! No voting record that we can see, no legislation to stand behind, no constituents he’s had to answer to, never had to send troops into harms way and take responsibility for it, never had to deal with a natural disaster, never had to balance a budget or get a budget passed with a state fighting against him…How convenient for him!!! Now he thinks we should just listen to his 999 idea and put him in the oval office! I don’t think so!!! He ran for the senate once and didn’t get elected…I don’t think being a radio talk show host qualifies him! Just a degree doesn’t qualify him! He needs to withdraw, go get some real experience, get a record, put in some time dealing with constituents, and come back later with some experience…he’s got name recognition now, do something with it! Right now…this is a joke!!!

It’s like a child who keeps begging and pleading with their parents for something the parents know is a very bad idea. Eventually the parents just give in and it turns out to be a disaster, and the parents KNEW better! All these adults need to stop acting like children!
