MSNBC Host’s Anti-Gingrich Rant Interrupted by Someone Delivering…Her Belts

Newt Gingrich’s comment about Occupy Wall Street protesters and personal hygiene during the Family Leader “Thanksgiving Family Forum” sent MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski into a tailspin this morning.

She called Gingrich’s statement to protesters (”get a job, right after you take a bath”) arrogant and disgusting. Brzezinski was so disturbed by his quip that she said she was “sickened” and that it made her skin crawl.

Adding to what can only be described as disheveled and scattered commentary, fellow “Morning Joe” cast member Willie Geist then handed some belts to Brzezinski in the middle of her rant. She then paused to explain that she had trouble dressing this morning, before going on to rail against Gingrich who is “in the 1 percent.”

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Wow. It’s really not surprising, coming from me, but that’s about the most arrogant and un-self-aware, and those are probably the only words I can use [inaudible] for any politician in this Republican field to say.

JEFFREY SACHS [income redistribution fan and Columbia prof]: Disgusting.

BRZEZINSKI: Disgusting.

SACHS: Absolutely disgusting.  No sense of any meaning at all of this.  Absolutely revolting, actually.  And especially when what they’re protesting against is the incredible abuse of power, the criminality on Wall Street and so forth that he–he has taken his millions of dollars.  It’s shocking!

BRZEZINSKI: Someone needs a bath, and I don‘t think it’s the people from Occupy Wall Street. That‘s all I’m going to say.  I’ve got nothing else. I’m so disgusted by that that something horrible is going to come . . . I, I, am I alone here? Am I over-reacting [note quavering voice]? I’m sickened by that . . . It‘s fair to say he’s in the 1%, correct? He’s telling the 99% to take a bath and get a job?  Really? Really, I wonder how they do that right now. How, given the state of this country, how anyone’s going to just get a job and take a bath. Who is this man?  Who does he think he is? And why is he surging in the polls? I don’t get it.  I mean,to hear Newt Gingrich standing on literally his high horse, after taking advantage of the system, cashing in, being the biggest, literally the biggest hypocrite in the Repubican field, probably in politics today.  The biggest hypocrite.  And then to cast aspersions and to speak down to these people as if–plghhh–they should be flipped away? It’s disgusting.  It’s absolutely disgusting.  It’s a very angry way to start the show. I’m extremely sorry.  But it‘s the first time I’d seen that.  And it literally made my skin crawl.  I can’t believe he resonates.

A very bizarre day on the set over at MSNBC, indeed.

    I would fall into the so called 99%. I am offended by what OWS protestors are doing. I agree with Mr. Gengrich’s views. The “99%” sure in the heck DO NOT represent me. I think they don’t deserve a damn thing. WE ARE AMERICA–NOBODY OWES US/YOU ANYTHING. If you aren’t willing to work and contribute to this society, then move to another country…North Korea, China, Cuba come to mind…..

      I think the have the numbers backwards.. I think they (the OWS) are the 1% and WE are the 99%. I don’t know one Tea Partier that considers themselves any part of what the OWS are.. certainly no corruption, no rape, no murder, and trash, and no death happened at one Tea Party event. So no they are the 1% and we are the 99%. God help us!

      Newt has accepted hefty consulting fees from mortgage giant Freddie Mac. Is he hypocritical? Freddie Mac is a cancer on society. Newt received $30,000-a-month from Freddie Mac until September 2008 when the U.S. Treasury took control of the government-sponsored entity.

      House Ethics Committee special counsel recommended that Newt be reprimanded by the full House and pay a $300,000 fine for violating House rules in 1997. The first time in the House’s 208-year history it has disciplined a speaker for ethical wrongdoing. He broke rules by failing to ensure that financing for two projects would not violate federal tax law and by giving the House ethics committee false information.

      I thought that these OWS protesters are getting paid..Just like how George Soros funded five major revolutions in countries like Georgia..He spent I believe 15 million in Georgia and they carried their dictator out and he was replaced by Soros and the NGO. Then upon learning that their rights had been stripped by their new government..tried protesting again..but were faced with being imprisoned…These people are just liberally educated into overrunning themselves..       It sure seems like it does not take much for a candidate to get someones vote around here. Candidates that tell you what you want to hear and you believing them because they are a good speaker and orator. Just because you are good at speeches, does not make you good for the job as POTUS. I think that our country is in the terrible shape it is in because we have gotten so far away from Constitutional principles. If you have another idea that makes sense of why we are in this position, tell me. I will support the one that stands for the Constitution and the principles that made our country better than any other. What other country has a Constitution that gives the people the control over their own lives and the government itself? Vote for Individual Liberty and we cannot go wrong.

He always states that the actions of a president should be judged against the constraints of the Constitution. NO ONE ELSE has even bothered to justify their positions relative to the limitations of power by the Constitution.

      To BernBart, be real, who can walk off the job for weeks at a time and their employer holds the position. you are right about some of them working, they work for Goerge Sorros, they are the agitators, they can afford to sleep in 700. dollar per night hotels while the minins sleep on the street. they want free food from veders and if they don’t get it they throw feces and,urine at them, if that isn’t true, who is paying for their food?       Mika isn’t disgusted by the cold hard facts that the OWS needs to quit their whining. She’s disgusted Newt is doing well in the polls. More importantly, her net worth is $4 million despite her own whining and crying that she isn’t being paid well in comparison to her cohorts on MSNBC and that it is because of a gender gap. And let’s remember what got her fired from CBS….her deciding what is news and what isn’t news. She is supposed to be a journalist, but instead, much like Chris Matthews, she is just a mouthpiece for the left who throws perfectly timed tantrums.       Thank you for having the courage to admit you were wrong. We are all at different stages of understanding, and anyone who claims to have “all” of the “truth” should be suspect IMO.
      The more I learn, the more I realize how little I knew.
      There is no one who has been more consistent in his message and his warnings. I just hope the rest of America wakes up in time to realize the trouble we are in.

      From what I can find, OWS consists of something less than a nation-wide total of 40,000 useful idiots. I’m too lazy to get up and find a calculator, but that amounts to something like 1/64th of the 250,000,000 or so Americans. Will everyone SHUT UP about this sideshow!!     She should receive some type of award for faking “shock” and “outrage”. Newt’s statement is exactly how those of us who work hard and pay our taxes feel. I/We love this Country and can not stand to see other Americans think we owe them something or than Life, Liberty, and the PURSUIT of happiness. Not everyone is always going to be happy- especially when they protest for something they have not earned. My Dad once said to me “At best $30,000 a year the way you are going”. That’s all I needed to hear to good out and work hard and make something of myself. My Dad? Great motivator and someone they should listen to.

      I don’t think she was faking at all. I heard her making these comments this morning and she was far too agitated and upset to be faking. She wasn’t hyperventilating but she got pretty close. When she disses people, she usually pulls out little noises from her grab bag of irritating exagerated sighs and dismissive moans and grunts (see Al Gore when he debated George Bush, he was positively obnoxious too) but this morning she was positively ranting. She really believes this stuff.
