MSNBC‘s ’Morning Joe’ Promotes Anti-American Al Jazeera To Cable Companies

Wrapping up Tuesday’s edition of “Morning Joe” was a segment on TV that launched with a full-court press from all in the room on behalf of Al Jazeera’s English-speaking service to gain access to the American cable systems. Joe and his group wondered aloud why the cable network was not on any major systems here in America.
NY Times Media writer Brian Stelter shared some insight about the controversial and frequently seen as anti-American network stating;
“Their commentators might makes us cringe at times, but they’ve got the news gathering that nobody has, that’s gonna win out.”
“Is Al Jazeera anti-American? I feel that’s being drowned out by the raw coverage. They’re the main ones with these live shots out of Egypt, that counts for something.”
Is the esteemed Times writer saying that a viewer should look beyond the feelings and statements of anchors if the news gathering ability of a channel is viewed as exceptional? Is he also stating just because Al Jazeera happened to be on the scene in Cairo before anyone else, they should be given a free pass for being anti-America?
Mr. Stelter also quoted that 1.6 million Americans had watched the coverage online via Al Jazeera’s website, indicating that cable operators should pay close attention to those numbers. That fact should be of interest to the cable companies. It is also interesting when compared with the typical daily audience numbers from Morning Joe (courtesy of TV By The Numbers)
In the vital demo of 25-54yr olds, MSNBC’s Morning Joe did not even crack the 100,000 mark.
Perhaps the cable companies are looking at their options and may consider a wholesale swap of Al Jazeera English for the ratings challenged MSNBC. And if that idea is already in the ether, it might just explain the pro Al Jazeera attitude of the Morning Joe crew.

You can’t make this stuff up. But you can at least report on it when it happens. Why are so few media outlets capable of reporting accurate news these days? Why do we have to turn to talk radio and the blaze get the other side of the story, the real skinny behind the agitprop?

Al-Jazeera does give one a real wake up call about the religion of intolerance, like the story this week about the anti-blasphemy law in Pakistan. To me MSNBC is even more anti American than even Al-Jazeera. As far as Israel, well, it is in the Arabs DNA to hate Israel it seems, something the hard left seems to share as well.

Report Post »I don’t get to watch too much of these morning shows because of my working hours ( and my location @ the left coast ), but whenever I have watched Morning Joe, it gives the vibe that they are there solely to produce a show for the WH . They behave as if “ someone” is watching them verrrrry intently and they don’t want to make him mad ..
If it wasn’t for the guys @ Newsbusters , I don’t think MSNBC will have any viewers outside the propaganda wing of the WH and Dem party.

Posted on February 1, 2011 at 5:29pmI hate to be the one to inform you guys, but broadcast of any foreign nation or organization would sound “anti-American” to many people, especially those of you on this website. Do you seriously think the news about the United States from Europe, Russia or any other country you can name is more “pro-American” than Morning Joe, or Al Jazeera for that matter.
You may imagine that the United States is beloved throughout the world, but you’d be wrong. I’m on our side, not theirs, but the fact is other countries view the United States differently than what we’d like (and of course whenever Obama entends the hand of friendship, Blazers say he shouldn’t).
So the answer if to close your ears and never hear what other nations think of us?

Your absolutely right and I agree. While we may look at Al-jazeera or Russia Times news as “anti-american”, you have to look at it from their angle. They don’t care. They are reporting their news, with things relevant to them. Truly if we as Americans wanted to be a little less ignorant of the world, it would be nice to learn what other people think of us. Then maybe we can deal with them easier instead of buying into the federal govt propaganda.

The above article and header leaves the impression that Stelter brings up the concept only to brush past it a moment later as if Anti-Americanism shouldn‘t be a factor when considering Al Jazeera’s worth. He isn’t making that case, nor should you infer that he is. He’s not directly blowing off such an argument; in fact, he’s not touching it. Instead, he‘s blowing off O’Reily.
Leave the strategic use of quotation marks to other journalists.

Now Al Jazeera is the News Agency of Egypt? This is so sad and comical I want to cry. Remember when the U.S. invaded Irag and Al Jazeera comments how Irag was winning the war. Surely 99.9% of the U.S. citizens understand this corrupt?

Posted on February 1, 2011 at 11:59pmactually, I am not. I am a registered Republican. I DVR Glenn’s show m-f, not that I have time to watch it all the time, but I try to. I have seen him speak in Williamsport, PA late last year on a cold night. Granted we may think different on some issues, but I have been tea party before tea party was cool. All I am saying is look at different resources. (Not that I would say go watch MSNBC… who could? Maybe 2 min tops before my eyes bleed). But really, if you want to understand other points of view, it can help to see their side of things. NOT that you may agree with it, but then you can understand when they say FOX(which is what I prefer) is promoting propaganda, you look at it objectively.

Here’s my opinion. In 1945, the United States was hero of the world. We defeated the bad guy and stood for Democracy and Freedom. But that was 65 years ago. As a country, we’ve made mistakes, or what many view as mistakes including a lot of patriotic Americans: the overthrow of a democratic Iran in 1941, attempted invasion of Cuba, Vietnam, Iraq. I love this country but very little of the world views us as the WWII heroes anymore, and judges us instead by things we’ve done since, many of which I also disagree with in hindsight.
But if there’s a market for cable companies to include news broadcasts from other countries, we should certainly do it. Why not hear what other countries say about the US? The United States isn’t threatened by the viewpoints of people of other nations.

Posted on February 2, 2011 at 5:30amUpdate from my previous post; Al Jazeera English doesn’t seem to be very biased at all, in fact they do a very good job of reporting the news from around the world, and is a very good news source. By contrast MSNBC is very biased hard left and looks like a joke compared to the mostly straight news reporting on Al Jazeera English. Don.t know and can’t speak for the Arab version on Al Jezeera though.

If you have principles, then other people‘s opinions shouldn’t change your principles. BUT if you are presented with conflicting principles, then you may have to deal with figuring that out. But if you wrap yourself in only news you believe in, then your going to be weaker when it comes to discussing it with people who don’t. That is my whole point.
