MSNBC’s Ratigan Flips Lid: Democrats Want to ‘Screw Me and My Kids’ While Republicans ‘Want to Burn the Place to the Ground’

The transcripts just don‘t do this recent tirade of MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigan justice. In the wake of the recently passed debt bill, S&P downgrade of the U.S. credit rating and subsequent financial market volatility, Ratigan blew a fuse Tuesday, unleashing a rant for the ages, in which he described both Democrats and Republicans as “reckless, irresponsible and stupid.”
According to Ratigan, “Republicans want to burn the place to the ground” while Democrats just want to offer a deal that will see them through their reelections and then “screw me and my kids when it’s over.”
During Ratigan’s bombastic diatribe he stated, “we’ve got a real problem…this is a mathematical fact. Tens of trillions of dollars are being extracted from the United States of America. Democrats aren’t doing it, Republicans aren’t doing it, an entire integrated system, banking, trade and taxation, created by both parties over a period of two decades is at work on our entire country right now.”
“We’re sitting here arguing about whether we should do the $4 trillion plan that kicks the can down the road for the president for 2017, or burn the place to the ground, both of which are reckless, irresponsible and stupid.”
But Ratigan‘s ire also found it’s way to President Obama. According to the MSNBC transcript, Ratigan stated what he would like to see the President do:
I would like him to go to the people of the United States of America and say, “People of the United States of America, your Congress is bought, your Congress is incapable of making legislation on healthcare, banking, trade, or taxes because if they do it, they will lose their political funding and they won’t do it. But I’m the President of the United States, and I won’t have a country that is run by a bought Congress. So I’m not going to work with a bought Congress and try to be Mr. Big Guy … I’m going to abandon the bought Congress like Teddy Roosevelt did, and I’m going to go to the people of the United States get rid of the bought Congress.” … Until a President says that’s the problem and says he’s going to fix it, there is no policy that I can possibly see no matter how brilliant your idea may be or your idea or my idea or her idea or your idea at home, is that idea will not happen as long as there’s a capacity to basically fire a politician who disagrees with me by taking funding away from him. Is that a fair assessment?

Posted on August 10, 2011 at 2:09amI do not know one Tea Party-type of person (It’s not a real party, no real membership, it’s just a movement of people who like traditional US History, Constitution, you know), I do not know one Tea Party Person who wants to burn anything down. A Democratic, government supported, college kind of voter is more likely to riot and loot. (Quit handing out free college, quit saying everyone has to waste so many years for too much money, for liberal indoctrination, for no guaranteed job.)
We who like the Tea Party, Hobbit label, are more likely to be calm, and like to carry political signs and to check voter guides and to be sure to vote. Also, just for fun, we read the Declaration of Independence once in awhile.

Our country is so in debt that we need cuts, so stop with the false meme’s. To not stop us bleeding cash is going to kill thus nation, not pitting an end to it. Sure in the short term idiots from your party might take to the streets and bus stuff because you think you’re “owed” it and tear some stuff up. Posted on August 10, 2011 at 7:20amWhy do you think Obama wants college to be declared a right, and given away free. I had to pass a test (back in 1982) in order to get into college. If you‘re scores weren’t high enough, you didn’t get in. And this was tiny little Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO). They keep lowering the standards because they don’t want to teach the kids in high school. As a preface, I have a special needs 21 year old. Now the state is paying for special needs children to “go to college” even if they’re on a 3rd grade level. That’s not college. If my son needs more after he got out of high school, I’ll teach him.
and, @tifosa do you just like talking out of your a$$? You don’t give any proof, only the talking points of the Democrats. The republicans wouldn’t be on our side, if it didn’t represent most of America. Sitting in your basement making up stuff to try to convince the man who just got his first Ipad off the government, or his free cell phone isn’t going to make it a reality.

Posted on August 10, 2011 at 10:30amIf you listen closely to Ratigan, he makes some good points. Republicans, burn the place down? No, but we have certainly contributed to the debt problem, not only under Bush with the screwed up Prescription Drug bill, but also under the Mickey Mouse debt ceiling bill that makes nominal cuts up front, kicks the can down the road with the “supposition” that future cuts are going to be agreed upon, and does not truthfully address the gargantuan mounting debt that is going to continue to mount until the bottom falls out.
It is going to take a President to go to the American people because we do have a corrupt Congress succored regularly by lobbyists, other interest groups, and the likes of the George Soroses of life. Unless Obama had a St. Paul conversion, his agenda would not only not be accepted, but would only make matters worse, but it will take a strong principled, courageous man of character, yet to be elected, who is willing to go to the American people let them know what needs to be done and why, and then run with it, keeping them informed and drawing regularly from their support and encouragement.
When Congress sees that the people are behind such a dynamic leader, they will get with the program and do the right thing or the people will send them packing.
Ratigan seems to have some fire in his belly, and again makes some good points. A good bit of fire in our bellies motivated by right thinking and policies would go a long ways.

To see them act like this is very good, to see the host smack the socialist annalist the way he did is good. They will not pass a law that has term limits so we need to do it for them.
Term limits are NOT a right/left, dem/repub issue because they impact both parties equally.
2 terms president (check), 2 terms Senate, 4 terms in congress TOTAL, not each.
For some reason, some on the left are against this, so we need to work on them. I would also pay them less, no lifetime benefits.
Let’s demand a law be passed. If they refuse, let’s impose our own term limits and vote ANYONE out after their time is up, repub or dem, good or bad.
This would be a good start to fight this mess and corruption that we have slept through and allowed.

He proposed that Congressional elections be based on a sort of Selective Service lottery system, effectively, a new representatitve is drafted for one term of office – then sent home after their term is up and pulled from the lottery to prevent future service. Though the need to vote for Congressmen is eliminated, it is still a system of governemnt based upon being governed by the people. Plus, it revives and almost makes real the long-held American idea of the reluctant leader hestitantly serving on behalf of his neighbors. Hear, hear! I would so much enjoy it if one day all of our elected officials just came clean and admitted that they are all working for someone else and it ain’t the American people.
I’m with Xoke, who commented to you as well, that TERM LIMITS need to be made and enforced. The days of career politicians (spits) need to be over and they need to be over NOW.

Posted on August 10, 2011 at 2:17pmI heard a CA State Senator (former) that said he changed his mind about term limits. He felt that term limits hands the keys to the kingdom to special interest groups and bureaucrats. Not sure if I agree, but I would instead eliminate all retirement benefits and financial incentives to be a lifelong politician, but that could lead to problems with politicians “feathering their beds” before they leave office too.
