MSNBC‘s ’The Black Agenda’ – With Ed Schultz?

Why why why is Ed Schultz hosting a special on MSNBC called ‘The Black Agenda?’

After watching the endless promotion for this program on the news/opinion channel, one can only wonder aloud, ‘Why is Ed Schultz, a big white guy with kinda-orange Boehner-like coloring, hosting a program called ‘The Black Agenda?’ For one thing, he hosted a similarly titled show last year. Wait – he CO-hosted that one.

Last year ‘The Black Agenda’ was a co-hosted special with Tamron Hall and Ed Schultz.  Tamron still has a daily program on the channel, so why was she not invited back?

I am not alone on this one.  Eric Deggans of the St. Petersburg Times is also raising the same question.

Lest we forget, MSNBC is part of NBC, the network that started their 2009 Prime Time season with the promotional slogan ‘More Colorful.’ The media website TVAddict.com took exception with this slogan and poked a little fun at the peacock with this fake, but accurate ad.

MSNBCs The Black Agenda With Ed Schultz?

A few days after launching that campaign and having it roundly mocked when people started pointing out the relative monochromatic casting on the channel, NBC quickly rebuilt their website and eliminated all mentions of ‘More Colorful.’

Wrapping up, here is a staff photo of MSNBC’s very diverse on-air crew.

MSNBCs The Black Agenda With Ed Schultz?

Yup, this is a place I would gravitate towards to be schooled on ‘The Black Agenda.’

Once again the lunacy and hypocrisy of the suicidal liberal mind. Assuaging their white guilt by claiming an affinity for a group they give lip service to to deflect any envy that might come their way. The fear of being envied by minorities drives them to go through all these PR gymnastics to show that “see, we really are like you. we are not the rich, self absorbed, silver spoon, Ivy league, country club, talk behind your back when your not around haters you think we are. WE CARE ABOUT YOU.”

You are right, of course. This is pandering at it’s best. And to think they did not have focus and study groups to determine “white host or black host” is just ignorant. Everything msnbc does is calculated and purposeful. Problem is their calculations just don’t add up….ever.

Very true… Apparently, Matt Lauer recently posed the following to Michele Bachman, on Arming Libyan Rebels: “Don’t you think providing weapons to the Rebels in the presence of Al Queda will only Demonstrate Our Compasion to Al Queda, and finally make them like us?” You know…. MSNBC, throws blacks a bone so they can claim there not racist, while practicing it. Just because Ed calls conservatives racist everyday, does not make him a spokesperson for blacks. Now if it were Herman Cain, he would be a great spokesman for blacks.

Eddie isn’t black? What a surprise. Actually if I was black I would be really upset if a fat blowhard white guy who constantly looked like he was about to stroke out did a show about the black agenda as though he was black. My attitude would be that after slavery, after all of the years of discrimination, now you white folks want to lay fat boy Schultz on OUR doorstep? Enough is enough! He’s all YOURS. Why does it matter what color skin is possessed by the on-air personalities on any network?
This country claims to want to leave racism behind but we are constantly reminded that “MSNBC has but one black on-air person”…”Thurgood Marshall, the first black Supreme Court justice”…”Ronald McNair, the first black astronaut”…and on and on and on.
What the hell difference does it make!?

A rhetorical question, to be sure. But sometimes I wonder what some people would do if it actually, really made no difference and when such distinctions were uttered, they were met with a cocked head and a stupified look.

      (repost; reply to appropriate person)

      @Bloody Sam,

“This country claims to want to leave racism behind but we are constantly reminded that “MSNBC has but one black on-air person”…”Thurgood Marshall, the first black Supreme Court justice”…”Ronald McNair, the first black astronaut”…and on and on and on.
“What the hell difference does it make!?”

      This is true.

Race based concepts such as the “black community” claim to want equality, but they instead choose to set themselves apart by identifying themselves based on the color of their skin, and then get upset when we say “you people”; Do they see themselves as a group or not?

That’s not to say that every black person considers themselves part of the “black community”, but since a significant number of them do, referring to them as a group is a helpful generalization.

And they can’t have it both ways: Either the group wants to be recognized as a group (or class); or they want to be recognized as individuals whose color is absolutely irrelevant, and as not belonging to any class but the human race.

And in that they choose to hold to a race based group identity, they can never lose with the race card: Because any racism they engage in (e.g. Liberation Theology) will be spun as “cultural”, and therefore worthy of acceptance; and any attempt to deal with their chosen cultural identity will be spun as a focus on the skin color of their group, and therefore racist.

Learn to respond to accusations of racism by making the distinction between the choice of individuals or groups to identify themselves by the color of their skin, and the irrelevant fact of their skin color; and you will trump the race card.

Wow, I could not have said it better myself. Seriously. The identifying-as-a-group thing is perpetuated by some in the black community (aka the New Black Panther guy). Because obama doesn’t do what they expect him to do as a “black man”, he is called every name under the sun. Some of the younger black men seem compelled to “dress the part”, complete with saggy pants with underwear showing, big gold chains, hat on sideways. I fail to understand why someone desires to be a “stereotype”. I say if you want to stop being treated as a separate group, stop trying to separate yourselves. It’s holding you all back.

As long as the media keeps fanning the flames of black vs. white, there will be no progress in race relations. The people who make their living off the backs of a minority race problem, need to keep it as an issue in the publics eye. Most intelligent people understand what is going on and reject the manipulation by the so-called advocates for racial justice.

I also didn’t realize that I should be aware of the white agenda and thought getting this country back on track was a colorless agenda. Now if they were talking about DOJ‘s Holder’s black agenda, then it might be worth watching, otherwise Schultz and Sharpton (Ed’s most common guest and expert in nothing) will just babble on about being owed something like they always do on Ed’s very very very low rated and viewed show.
