Mubarak Disappears as Army Backs Him & Crowds Surge

The situation in Egypt is fast-moving. Since President Hosni Mubarak gave his I’m-not-stepping-down step-down speech last night, much has happened. Below is a rundown of the morning’s news regarding Egypt.

After Mubarak refused to step down completely, Euronews shows how angry Egyptians took their protest to the “front door” of Mubarak’s presidential palace:

According to the New York Times, the military has thrown its support behind the despised president:

As tens of thousands of chanting protesters thronged central Cairo and elsewhere on the 18th day of Egypt’s uprising, the powerful armed forces scrambled on Friday to offer assurances and concessions, endorsing President Hosni Mubarak’s refusal to step down while seeking to defuse the outrage and anger it has provoked among protesters.

It was not clear whether the military’s position would satisfy demonstrators who have previously cast the military as an ally and who want Mr. Mubarak to leave immediately — a demand the military did not come close to supporting in a statement on Friday after a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.

The developments seemed to show the military increasingly embroiled in the crisis, reluctant to confront the protesters with force yet ready to back what Mr. Mubarak has depicted as a peaceful and orderly transition.

And while the demands of the Egyptian people have already fallen on deaf ears, that seems likely to continue, as there are now reports that Mubarak has left town.

Last week we reported Mubarak was monitoring the people’s discontent from the comfort of his holiday villa in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh. Now, as Fox reports, it appears he has returned to the resort:

As protesters fill Tahrir Square in another day of demonstrations, an Israeli military intelligence official told Fox News that President Mubarak has left Cairo via helicopter, and was headed to his residence in Sharem a-Sheikh, a resort town in Egypt.

Still, there are circulating rumors that he has not gone to Sharm el-Sheikh but rather the United Arab Emerites. Business Insider reports that Al Jazeera tweeted, “Multiple sources talk about the departure of President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt to UAE.”

And finally, Mubarak’s defiance has had a positive effect on the U.S. dollar, says the AP:

The refusal of Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak to stand down is weighing on market sentiment Friday, sending stocks down around the world and the dollar higher through its perceived status as a safe haven.

All these muslims are wanting this caliphate to come and rule over them. There is one thing they failed to tell their current leaders. In the process of getting this caliphate to come; The current leaders will lose their country and maybe even their heads.

ONLY “enhanced by Obama and Hillary”?…Did you know that ALL of Egypt’s top military command were in Washington DC on the day that the protests began? Yes, they were ALL out of the country…I find that very interesting…They were in Washington, as I understand it, for their annual meetings that has to do with the military aid that the US provides to their military…In fact, I don’t just find it “interesting”…I find it purely “suspect”…Dr. Savage reported this fact the day that it happened…he too thought it was suspect…no one else has reported on it…I wonder why?

I don’t think there is a good outcome to all of this. The only thing that could possibly work is if parties are created in the interim until the Sept elections. If there is an election right now, the Islamic Brotherhood takes over. That would be devastating for the region, and the rest of the world. What we are seeing right now is an absolute repeat of 1979 Iran. Could you imagine if someone like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had control over the Suez Canal? Standby folks. The price of gas is going to sky rocket. Those that are not paying attention to this situation will be soon when they go to the fuel pump and buy groceries.

Other board members of the ICG are Javier Solana (Marxist supportive of Castro, once on US subversive list), Sandy Berger (smuggled documents out of the Clinton WH by hiding them in his clothes), General Wesley Clark (fired from his NATO command).

The true purpose of the ICG IS NOT to promote peace..it is the exact opposite…they are sympathetic to the Muslim Brotherhood…

But the saddest thing to me about the whole situation…our country more than likely will do nothing to help them fight for their exsistance even if they get attacked first. Well, there is always more to it than it appears. Lets think about why hosni changed his mind and put himself in the position he has. I don’t think he wants to see MB or any other extreme group in power and has just been stalling, wishing there was some one to help keep them at bay. I believe that he‘s coming to understand it won’t be Barry. The agents of evil keep stirring up the streets. The police are in hiding(if they’re smart). The military is still acting moderately. Israel is on their equivalent of DEFCON 36, and, I expect the president will take another vacation.
It is fools hope that Egypt will can salvage any kind of “secular” control of their system. Mubarak has to go because he can no longer fulfill the terms of his contract with the U.S.A.. This most likely will include the muslum brotherhood, or several smaller groups banding togeather to take the power in the form of a coalition government.

The one wild card as I still see it is the Egyptian military itself; who will they throw their weight into the support of, or make a move of their own.

Who really knows what will happen in Egypt, the USA has botched the chance to be a part of it…changing sides every day the USA has lost credibility in the region. BHO is incapable in foreign policy, miserable in domestic policy and needs to be voted OUT!

My thoughts are there will be a power sharing rule coming out of this, the military and Brothers, and the people of Egypt will find themselves in worse shape. If that happens, they lose our $1.5 billion in aid, that’s for sure. Or there will be outright civil war among several factions, and the outcome is far from certain? In the end, the peace treaty with Israel will probably not hold, and WWIII will start, if so. Strap the chin pads on, and put your head down, the ride will become rough soon enough! Prepare.

Abby – I have to disagree with you unfortunately. the USA will be involved, in fact, we already are. The Obama administration has openly backed the people in the streets (AKA the Muslim Brotherhood), and tried to exert pressure to get Mubarak to step down immediately. While they haven’t publically called for Mubarak to step down, they’ve sure danced around it quite a bit – I guarantee that is what Mubarak was referring to in his speech yesterday about outside forces not dictating his actions.
Things just got a whole lot messier in that our adminstration backs the people, and the Egyptian millitary has seemed to back the Mubarak goverment. This puts us at odds with the ONLY stabilizing force in that country right now, and will have ramifications for years to come – not only in Egypt, but with our other allies in the region who realize they can no longer trust the USA .

Many Bible scholars believe that the Ottoman Empire will rise again, starting in Egypt. It will include Turkey, Egypt, Syria, UAE & Iran. They will surround Israel. (Ezekiel 38 & 39 ) Many believe the Antichrist will come from Turkey and be rooted in Islam. Could this be the Caliphate that the Muslim Brotherhood are calling for?

People get ready, there‘s a train a ’comin.

      @Snow:
“Anymore this is one mess, “enhanced by Obama and Hillary”…
      _______________
ONLY “enhanced by Obama and Hillary”?…Did you know that ALL of Egypt’s top military command were in Washington DC on the day that the protests began? Yes, they were ALL out of the country…I find that very interesting…They were in Washington, as I understand it, for their annual meetings that has to do with the military aid that the US provides to their military…In fact, I don’t just find it “interesting”…I find it purely “suspect”…Dr. Savage reported this fact the day that it happened…he too thought it was suspect…no one else has reported on it…I wonder why?

Worse, worse scenario….Muslim brotherhood takes control of the Egyptian army. They are already sympathetic to the people. This is what keeps me up at night. God Bless America and God Bless our troops. How fast can we get them out?

      Bingo!

After this unexpected turn of events from Egypt, I suspect Odumbass is contemplating some sort of spinnage / damage control.

Ultimately he’ll claim success for whatever happens as though it was his intention all along.

If the same thing was to happen in the USA, I am almost 100% certain that the military leadership would back the people instead of the socialist / pan-leninist Obama.

I suspect that in private that this whole situation is shaking Obama and his administration to their core.

The guy is nothing but a coward. If he was a true leader he would be out there speaking directly to the crowd, not running away. He needs to be ousted.

They have brought it on themselves. If the American Right stood up against our Government in this same way we would have long ago been met with riot police, clubs, water cannons and tear gas to disperse us and keep us from forming again. We would be well within our rights to protest as well seeing how they, the current administration has abused its power by circumventing Congress on multiple occasions, ignoring the constitution, supporting subversive groups, allowing our borders to be porous an ceding US territory to drug Lords in the AZ desert preserve, the list goes on and on.
