Mubarak Slams U.S. in Phone Call With Israeli Lawmaker

Hosni Mubarak had some choice words for the United States and efforts to spread democracy in the Middle East during a telephone conversation with an Israeli lawmaker just one day before he stepped down as Egypt’s president, Reuters reports.

“He had very tough things to say about the United States,” said [Binyamin] Ben-Eliezer, a member of the center-left Labor Party who has held talks with Mubarak on numerous occasions while serving in various Israeli coalition governments.

“He gave me a lesson in democracy and said: ‘We see the democracy the United States spearheaded in Iran and with Hamas, in Gaza, and that’s the fate of the Middle East,’” Ben-Eliezer said.

“‘They may be talking about democracy but they don’t know what they’re talking about and the result will be extremism and radical Islam,’” he quoted Mubarak as saying. …

Ben-Eliezer said Mubarak expanded in the telephone call on “what he expects will happen in the Middle East after his fall.”

“He contended the snowball (of civil unrest) won‘t stop in Egypt and it wouldn’t skip any Arab country in the Middle East and in the Gulf.

“He said ‘I won’t be surprised if in the future you see more extremism and radical Islam and more disturbances — dramatic changes and upheavals,” Ben-Eliezer added.

In 1979, Egypt became the first Arab country to sign a peace treaty with Israel.  But last week, Israeli Prime Minister Bejamin Netanyahu warned that Egypt may be susceptible to an Iran-style Islamist revolution.

“(Mubarak) was looking for an honorable way out,” Ben-Eliezer said.

“He repeated the sentence, ‘I have been serving my country, Egypt, for 61 years. Do they want me to run away? I won’t run away. Do they want to throw me out? I won’t leave. If need be, I will be killed here.’”

You’re wrong. The Bible is current, relevant and revealing today (even more than yesterday) and will never change nor be forgotten. First, there was the Word and the Word became flesh (Jesus). He came to earth and conqured death (not just physically but more importantly, spiritually) for us so that we may have life .. bizarre to you ain’t it? that too was written.

“I’m hotter than hell,” Rokke told AFP. The Dept. of Energy tested Rokke in 1994 and found that he was excreting more than 5,000 times the permissible level of depleted uranium. Rokke, however, was not informed of the results until 1996.

As director of the Depleted Uranium Project in 1994-95, Rokke said his task was three fold: determine how to provide medical care for DU victims, how to clean it up, and how to educate and train personnel using DU weapons.

Today, Rokke says that DU cannot be cleaned up and there is no medical care. “Once you’re zapped – you’re zapped,” Rokke said. Among the health problems Rokke is suffering as a result of DU contamination is brittle teeth. He said that he just paid out $400 for an operation for teeth that have broken off. “The uranium replaces the calcium in your teeth and bones,” Rokke said.

“You fight for medical care every day of your life,” he said.

“There are over 30,000 casualties from this Iraq war,” Rokke said.

The three tasks set out for the Depleted Uranium Project have all failed, Rokke said. He wants to know why medical care is not being provided for all the victims of DU and why the environment is not being cleaned up.

“They have to be held accountable,” Rokke said, naming President George W. Bush, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and British prime minister Tony Blair. They chose to use DU weapons and “totally disregarded the consequences.”

Mubarak just articulated what the entire ME, including Israel I believe, has to be feeling. The United States can not be trusted as a serious ally. I want to be very clear. I lay a big part of the blame on President Obama’s plate, but not all of it. The erosion of our integrity has been going on for some time now.

We need to get out of the ME and other areas of the world that we have no business in. We should spend the next 10 or 20 years rebuilding our home front. We have no credibility in the rest of the world anymore. If we keep electing the idiots, either of the parties and any of their candidates, our great grandchildren will be slaves in a couple more generations.

Happy life great grandchildren! We were too busy fighting over the caloric content french fries and watching Dancing to care about your future. But, I promise, we voted for the most electable candidates. We watched every speech they made, or at least a 4 minute You Tube recap of it, and they were wonderful. They made great speeches! I hope the new Masters, whoever they end up being, don’t work you too hard.

The Constitution of the United States, Art. He is in exile with OUR money and now its our fault! Anything that goes wrong will be our fault… it wasnt the US that abused the Egyptians it was Mubarak. It was his country to control, if the radicals rise up it is b/c of him and what he did to them (I know I know using our money) but he didnt have to be a jerk! If he was aware of hardcore radicals and knows the threat they possess why didnt he deal with them?

NOW they are a problem? They have been a problem and they are the ones who ORGANIZED this uprising in the first place. This thing didnt just start up 2+ weeks ago as we are learning those radicals have been planning this for a while.

As for spreading American democracy around the world yea we would like to see nations embrace democratic Republic where the law rules the land not mob/majority rule. US democracy is nothing like the democracy in Iran, Venezuela, Cuba etc thats not the ‘democracy’ the US wishes on the world.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm……where have I heard that before……….ummmmmmmmm……..oh ya from Glenn! How’s that all you…the likes of Chris Matthews, et al? Or is Mr. Mubarak unstable and a conspiracy theorist as well?!

Sore loser? Or truth teller? The current regime is clueless about the consequences of Mubarek’s loss…or are they? They want to bring America to her knees, and Mubarak is absolutely correct! Democracy is mob rule. America is not a democracy. America is a democratic REPUBLIC! Thanks to the electoral college, the mob that is the oblahblah gang cannot rule.

@bmartin – “if the radicals rise up it is b/c of him and what he did to them (I know I know using our money)”. The man has tens of billions of dollars. Seems to me he didn’t “use” any money he just took it and ran. History again repeats itself…we have another Shah of Iran situation. We backed a stable government (what else were we supposed to or could we have done) ruled by a dispicable individual and now we will be villified.

Like Obama’s speech today, this day in history will be written with half truths.

“we” means Obama, and you can forget that. The USA and Israel are actually the targets of being “glassed”. Thankfully, at least for Israel, God has already told us that won’t happen to them.

@tower7 – That comedy sketch was posted February 8, 2011. There are articles talking about Mubarak’s worth on the net dated February 4, 2011. Looks more like the comedy sketch was a result of information that was already in circulation rather than it being the source of the information. Are you implying that Mubarak left egypt penniless? Forbes recently came out with an article that disputes Mubarak’s worth being at 70 billion. I believe they are correct in this assessment. However, I am confident that Mr. Mubarak will not want for money the rest of his days on this planet. If, some day, we get a true accounting of his net worth I would not be surprised if that figure is between 10 and 20 billion.

Remind me again why it was ok for the POTUS to encourage this revolution but he said it was not appropriate for him to get involved in the uprising in Iran. The only difference I can see is they already have a fundamentalist islam-o-fascist dictatorship in Iran, whereas, Egypt only had a secular dictatorship.

How arrogant and foolish is this WH…to publicly humiliate and throw him under the bus on the first sign of trouble… First of all, Obama hasn‘t demanded any other country’s dictator to step down, inc..Iran, Bolivia, Venezuela, China etc…not a word!. He is what he is. Do you think just maybe it all has to do with the fact that only Egypt, our ally of 30 years, and the only middle eastern country to have a peace treaty with Israel and who (Mubarak) held an iron fist against the Muslim brotherhood. Now what?

I think that sore loser or not he got buckets-o-money, and the truth is that the seeds of that same revolution is going to spread and find its way here, the radicals of, not only Muslim’s, Communists, anarchists, and the moocher class, are poised and waiting for their chance to riot in the big cities of the US, it would be foolish of us to believe that it is not a Global agenda, it is very well organized and is growing in momentum.
