Mubarak’s Gone, Should Obama Get The Credit?

An old boss used to tell me, ”Whenever possible take the credit when something good happens, because the blame is never far behind.”
After 18 days of protests, Egypt has been re-born. A repressive regime that ruled for over three decades has been forced out and if we are to believe everything we hear on MSNBC, the seeds of Democracy are germinating in the largest Arab nation on the planet. So who gets the credit?
Politico’s Ben Smith claims he received an email from an unnamed DEM official giving the nod to the President and he believed it to be the official party line;
“Great news for the administration/president. People will remember , despite some fumbles yesterday, that the President played an excellent hand, walked the right line and that his statement last night was potentially decisive in bringing this issue to a close.”
Over at The Atlantic, Clive Cook, with tongue firmly planted in his cheek, delivers a response to Mr. Smith;
“An associate of mine, who asked not to be named, made this comment:
Clive played an excellent hand and walked the right line. His statement over supper last night was potentially decisive in bringing this issue to a close. The situation remains complicated and delicate going forward, but this is a huge affirmation of his leadership on the international stage.”
Noel Sheppard from Newsbusters pointed out that Chris Matthews agrees with Ben Smith;
Chris Matthews on Friday said that Hosni Mubarak’s exit from Egypt and the jubilation now happening in Tahrir Square took Barack Obama to have happen.
And we wrap up with a little nugget from the clever folks from BulletPeople.com who remind us that Pee Wee Herman can still teach us all something.

Posted on February 12, 2011 at 11:52amobama couldn’t find his butt with a mirror and both hands. Most incompetent, destructive president in the history of the US. And when it goes south in Egypt, and I believe it will, he will run and hide and blame everyone else. Barry says: “If it’s good news, it’s all my doing. If it’s bad news, it’s all YOUR doing.”

Posted on February 12, 2011 at 11:49amObama would be smart to avoid any mention of his involvement unless he sends in the best and most experienced foreign policy people to work constantly with the current Egyptian leadership.
Report Post »One important thing for Obama to do is to gag Chris Matthews if he wants to keep from receiving the blame for Egypt’s loss to a Caliphate or Socialist regime should things go badly.
The first thing he needs to do is to grab Jimmy Carter and take him to a secure facility with no out going communications, then take away his traveling papers.
Then again, this is all predicated on Obama being capable and smart which is unlikely given his history.

Posted on February 12, 2011 at 11:41amMubarak and any elected President in Egypt is just a faceman for the Army.
Report Post »The Egyptian army has always been in control.
That kind of set up is how they remain in control. They have a President elected of their choice then all discontent is directed upon that person, not the Army
It’s the same kind of set up in Iran with Acmedinejad and the ruling Islamic council
The only thing the people of these heavily Islamic countries can hope for is stablity thru protection from the people and their heinous Sharia, until Islam is corrected and Sharia removed.
Now Egypt is unstable and nothing in the true nature of power has changed,
Yes, Obama should get the credit for that.

Posted on February 12, 2011 at 11:38amI agree, Obama should NOT get credit for this. The US Government did nothing to help the situation. Hell, they helped Mubarak for many years on this, supporting this fascist dictator. Yet, Obama isn’t giving credit to himself. A friend that he knows is. It doesn’t mean anything. I’m sure if you asked Obama, he would not give himself the credit for this at all.

Its all about him don’t you know. ..And the main stream media wants him to have it in order to prop him up. Translation. They will find a way to build a non-existent bridge to the Man Chaild so he will be credited with the outcome. Course it will be like everything else in his life… He has accumulated credits and achievements in his life the old-fashioned Chicagoland way….it has all been GIVEN to him.

Posted on February 12, 2011 at 11:37amObama will take the credit for the changes coming now in Egypt; just as most here knew he would try to do so. The POTUS is a glory seeker, assuming he somehow has to only say a few words about any situation, and then he can claim all glory and honors for the ‘successful’ changes he has brought about.
His ego is bigger than the rock of Gibralter.

The media will start to tear down Obama when things go to ‘hell in a handbasket’ as you put it very aptly; the one thing they fail to see, for the most part, is they are so entwined within the administration and the progressive cause, they most likely will fall down with him when the time comes to be at hand.
And good riddance in my book.

Posted on February 12, 2011 at 8:24pmThose on the left who credit Obama with leading this event, including the Great In His Own Mind Chris Matthews, will never admit Obama’s attempt to back up Mubarak in the first couple of days of the revolt. After that failed he dog-paddled until it began to look as if the people of Egypt would ultimately prevail, then he began saying Mubarak needs to go! In the end it was the Egyptian Army that settled the issue in order to prevent violence and protect the people. Shortly thereafter Mr. Obama came on television and began talking as if he was the “great mediator” who had seen the emergency through to the end. Then he had the audicity to start telling the new Government of Egypt that they had to follow a democratic course to insure the freedom of the people. All Mr. Obama proved to me is that he is still full of hot air and, being up to his chin in swampwater, is pleading, “Don’t make a wave!”

Posted on February 13, 2011 at 1:12amOf course he will not. Unlike you puppets he realizes that all the “credit” belongs to the Egyptians. This was truly a bottom up revolution toppling a ruthless thieving dictator. God bless the Egyptians for wanting to better their lives and the lives of their children’s future. This is truly inspiring watching people fight for what we in the US take for granted.
