Multiculturalism, This Is Not Your Week.

This weekend, we brought you news that British Prime Minister David Cameron announced the failure of “multiculturalism.” Now it seems he has company.

On Sunday, Cameron stated:

“We have even tolerated these segregated communities behaving in ways that run counter to our values. So when a white person holds objectionable views — racism, for example — we rightly condemn them. But when equally unacceptable views or practices have come from someone who isn’t white, we’ve been too cautious, frankly even fearful, to stand up to them.”

Cameron also added:

“Europe needs to wake up to what is happening in our own countries, we have to get to the root of the problem.”

Of course this kind of talk met with push back and condemnation from Muslim groups in England.

And then…  French President Nicholas Sarcozy joined the parade of sanity when he made the following proclamation Thursday:

“Of course we must all respect differences, but we do not want… a society where communities coexist side by side.  If you come to France, you accept to melt into a single community, which is the national community, and if you do not want to accept that, you cannot be welcome in France.  The French national community cannot accept a change in its lifestyle, equality between men and women… freedom for little girls to go to school.”

Bien dit, M. Sarkozy

I know a teacher in the ESL program in our community – incredibly, some of her students have lived in the US for 30 years – and don’t know a word of English! – so don’t tell me we are not a nation of disconnected communities

BTW – the ESL classes are free, 100% funded by state and fed tax dollars – no student applicant is required to prove citizenship, and folks are not supposed to talk about who is here illegally – but people talk anyway, and apparently up to 50% of the ESL students are illegals – there is a huge waiting list for this ESL program, so illegals are taking up space that the legal immigrants (who pay taxes) could take -

I ran away from France when I was 20 years old, married an American and my kids don’t speak French. Of course, there is heavy immigration from north Africa and Turkey, but the lack of freedoms are factors contributing heavily to the malaise. There is no longer freedom of speech in the land of Voltaire, government oversees the internet for any speech which may be considered hateful. Websites are taken off internet plateforms when postings are construed as ‘hateful’ – therefore nothing controversial is ever published and all debates are closed (in the newspapers or otherwise). Journalists and citizens who refuse to comply get sued. French websites are often set-up in America in order to bypass French laws. Journalist Eric Zemmour went through trial three weeks ago because he stated. (Quote) “The prison population in France is over 50% blacks and arabs”. That’s “hate speech” for you! Of course, Obama signed into this very concept of forbidding “Hate Speech”, when he backed its ruling at the U.N. in October 2009. (It’s always good to know what our leaders really think).
The French don’t have right to self-defense, and they don’t have the right to bear arms. As a result, rapes are rampant in the cities and suburbs; French girls mostly, but also arabic girls who are refusing to wear the hijab. Attackers are often groups of arabs against one girl;who is then raped multiple times by multiple guys. It is known in the French press as “Tables Tournantes” – but no-one can report that the perpetrators are Muslims – instead, they are referred to as “youth”. Just like “youth” burn cars for amusement on new year’s eve; just like “youth” attack the police and create zones (entire neighborhoods) where the police no longer enter.
I could go on and on about the lack of freedoms in France and Europe at large. Coming to America was the best decision I ever made. God Bless this great country.

Not all Spanish-speakers are immigrants or even descendants of immigrants!

There were Spanish-speakers living within the present-day borders of the US 50 years before the first English-speakers stumbled ashore.

I will try to explain the differences:
Multiculturalism is where people of different cultures live together and respect each others beliefs (the original concept behind the USA)
Political correctness is usually used as a derogatory term by people who object to being asked to respect other people rather than insult or sneer at them
Social engineering is where you move populations about to create concentrations of what you consider to be acceptable people in one area – or move others out. For example you could expel all Spanish speaking people out of Texas and thereby engineer their society
Social justice means trying to achieve fairness in society with justice for all rather than just those who can afford it. Hope this helps.

That something so obvious needs to be stated as if it were a newly discovered truth demonstrates how far from reality the Political Classes in the west have strayed. That the immigrant has to adopt to laws of the country they immigrate to should be obvious.

However, in the US there is a whole sub-culture led by organizations like La Raza where the immigrant is entitled to be here and DEMANDS his right, amnesty and a free ride.

Some day the American people will have had enough of this. Those who sowed the wind (like La Raza) will reap the whirlwind.

      Really two questions–both good ones!

What drives emigration from the Middle East is the same combination of things that has driven emigration from Latin America, or that drove emigration from Europe 100-200 years ago: poverty, unemployment, political oppression.

What drives multiculturalism is the mistaken belief in the host countries that cultural diversity is something that should be “celebrated” and encouraged, rather than simply tolerated pending a high degree of assimilation.

Someone should tell them that‘s why country’s have borders. Because man isn’t multicultural by nature and nature dictates man just like every other animal on the planet. And Islam is even less tolerent than nature so allowing them access into country’s is establishing a counter culture in your society. A counter cultural that believes death in the name of it’s agenda is the highest possible achievement them can hope to for.

The Muslims seem to know the power behind the throne and they are perfectly content in calling it out and then rooting it out by any and every means necessary… Once again I don‘t care for them and wouldn’t allow the first Muslim into America if it was up to me nor any other immigrant but I can’t blame them for trying to assert themselves.. For both the leaders of UK and France to come out and say this means two things: 1) Muslim extremism has become so bad that even the political classes see it as an existential threat, and 2) For the political classes to have the courage to speak of this openly, it must already be accepted as conventional wisdom among the people.

It appears that both societies seem prepared to say to muslims: Assimilate or leave. Institutional mult-culti remains, however, and it will be difficult to reverse that bureaucratic inertia.

I agree, Bill “Ted Baxter” O’Reilly got this one wrong. There are definitely reclusive ethnic enclaves in America, including Spanish speaking, muslim, and Asian. But they aren’t as many as in Europe, and they aren’t as pronounced. Yes, there are Muslim communities like that in Michigan: Arabic signs, Arab radio and TV, a mosque on every other corner, women with heads covered driving carloads of kids to soccer practice in minivans, loads of great Middle Eastern restaurants. Arabs (and lately Indian and Paki Muslims as well) enrich the local scene with their culture–and entrepreneurship! Some families have been in the US for 90 years. They are mostly here legally, pay taxes, and have a lower unemployment rate than the general population. Most are fluent in English. There are Islamist fanatics among them, but these enjoy little support in the Middle Eastern population at large. O’Reilly is wrong about there being no foreign-language enclaves here, but correct in his general assessment that Europe‘s assimilation problems are an order of magnitude greater than America’s.

Miami is little Havana and Kissemmee, Fl is litltle Puerto Rico. I live a bit north of Orlando in Leesburg, Lake County, and it is all Mexican here, though we are nowhere near as overrun as Kissemmee…

I like the Mexican people and enjoy having their foods available in our local stores. It is fine until they make up the majority, then everything suddenly becomes Mexican. If you speak English YOU are the outsider in your own country.

I really see both sides of this…I do not think there is a solution. You cannot blame people for living among their own kind and retaining their culture…Yet you do need to assimilate to the country you choose to live in. I do not think It is an intentional “disrespect” thing as much as a comfort thing. I also have to look at the groups of Americans living everywhere in the world who do the same exact thing in other cultures. They live amongst other Americans, insist on speaking English only, and even get downright obnoxious when things are not “americanized.”

I guess what I am saying is that there are two sides to this. While it is not acceptable to insist on Sharia law like the Muslims do, or go against the culture you chose to live in, there is also an aspect of allowing people the freedom to live as they like. This problem is as old as civilization and will not be solved anytime soon….

Or even Australia of all countries! Although I think Islam needs to be banned period in the USA and we need to stop beating around the bush by dreaming Islam has any tolerance and compatibility with our society.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard -  Australia  is the person of note here.   She has explained  to her nation:

“Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the  government targeted radicals in a bid to head off  potential terror attacks.
Separately, Gillard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying she supported spy agencies monitoring the nation’s mosques.
Quote:   ‘IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT.  Take It Or Leave It.
“I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.  ‘This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom’   We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish,  Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of  our society . Learn the language!’
‘Most Australians believe in God.  This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because  Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.  If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.  ‘We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why.  All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and  peaceful enjoyment with us.’
‘This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this.  But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, ‘THE  RIGHT TO LEAVE‘.’
‘If you aren’t happy here then LEAVE.   We didn’t force you to come here.   You asked to be here.   So accept the country  YOU accepted.’
