Mumia Abu-Jamal Calls in From Prison to Huge Rally Thrown by His Supporters

Mumia Abu Jamal Supporters Throw Huge Celebration to Mark Anniversary of His Arrest

AP File Photo

Two opposing rallies converged in Philadelphia Friday as supporters of convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal held a celebration in his honor while others gathered in remembrance of slain police officer Daniel Faulkner.

It was standing room only at the National Constitution Center where hundreds of Abu-Jamal supporters were marking the 30th anniversary of his arrest for Faulkner’s murder, ABC affiliate WPVI-TV reported. The event took place just days after prosecutors dropped their push in seeking the death penalty for him.

The former Black Panther has long maintained he was the victim of a racist legal system, a charge his supporters took up Friday.

Speakers included Cornel West and Poet Laureate Amiri Baraka, and the event even featured a live phone conference with Abu-Jamal himself, who offered advice for youth trying to fight for justice, local CBS affiliate KYW-TV reported. Supporters exploded in applause as soon as his voice rang out over the sound system.

“I would say follow your heart, and do the right thing. Because nine times out of 10, you’re doing the right thing,” Abu-Jamal said over the phone.

Abu-Jamal supporter Candice Benford told WPVI she attended the event because, “The fact that he’s behind bars for so long without the proper conviction process being held.”

Tarisse Iriarte added, “I believe in the cause, and I believe in fighting injustices.”

Meanwhile, a group of police officers and bikers gathered outside the center in Faulkner’s memory. WPVI reported more than a hundred motorcyclists from different biker groups rode around outside and revved their engines in remembrance.

“We’re just showing our support to an officer that was killed in cold blood by a murderer, who is still alive today, who shouldn’t be on this earth anymore,” Brian Thomas said.

“These people are anarchist. They don’t believe in the rule of law,” Bill Walls said of the Abu-Jamal supporters inside.

But those inside the center dismissed the protesters outside.

“Those people out there kind of made me laugh,” Sue Kelly told WPVI. “I think they thought that they were making so much noise, they would disrupt our program. But they didn’t realize that this place is pretty soundproof.”

All that’s necessary for the forces of evil to win in the world is for enough good men to do nothing.” Sir Edmund Burke

“At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it? Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant to step the ocean and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia, and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest, with a Bonaparte for a commander, could not by force take a drink from the Ohio or make a track on the Blue Ridge in a trial of a thousand years.
At what point, then, is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, If it ever reach us it must spring up amongst us; it cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen we must live through all time, or die by suicide.” Abraham Lincoln – Lyceum Address 1838

Poverty, it sure is nice bringing up Mosaic law, but for Christians Jesus’ words are now the standard. Thus, give unto Caesar that which is Caesars‘ and give unto God that which is Gods’. Hint: man has laws that need to be followed even as a Christian. Jesus did say that we should “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. I am not advocating for his life or death, but only for the word from my savior.

You’ll have to hunt, but it is there. You’ll know because the photo is in black and white.

Just in case you need a refresher on why this guy was charged. Looks guilty to me.

On December 9, 1981, in Philadelphia, close to the intersection at 13th and Locust Streets, Philadelphia Police Department officer Daniel Faulkner conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle belonging to William Cook, Abu-Jamal’s younger brother. During the traffic stop, Abu-Jamal’s taxi was parked across the street, and Abu-Jamal ran across the street towards the traffic stop. At the traffic stop, there was an exchange of fire. Both Officer Faulkner and Abu-Jamal were wounded, and Faulkner died. Police arrived on the scene and arrested Abu-Jamal, who was found in possession of a shoulder holster and a revolver, which had five spent cartridges. He was taken directly from the scene of the shooting to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital where he received treatment for his wound, the result of a shot from Faulkner.[31]

I agree! Go further down here to my post. I posted additional info along with the website where you can get the real, factual info on what happened that night. danielfaulkner.com

As I mentioned, I am more than familiar with the crime-scene area, as I probably was at a building adjacent to where Faulkners’ murder by Jamal occured, oh, probably, 300+ times. I used to park my vehicle in the lot directly across from the shooting, and would park in front of the building on the west side of 13th st. on the same side where this occured.

Where Chobert was in the area of what is/was a pizza shop. You could definitely see some person running from where Chobert was located. At night, you could not make a positive ID (in my opinion), but since the “running man” that fell turned out to be Jamal, the positive ID was made when police arrived and loaded Jamal up for the trip to the hospital.

The position of the other three “eyewitnesses” would not have allowed them to know if the “running man” was even involved. Like I said, go to danielfaulkner.com.

Yes. and remember that OJ was “innocent”. It is now possible to be found innocent by a jury of your “peers”, especially if race, or the color of the jurors skin is the same as the accused.

Holder and the civil rights division of the DOJ, and its sibling, the ‘voters section’, are exacting the type of ‘justice’ we see with regards to Abu-Jamal. They are concerned with ‘voters rights’ if those voters are Black. Statements have been made by workers in the DOJ that say exactly that.

I think Pauls foreign policy makes some sense. We do need to get out of some of those places and focus on our border. He would be influenced by the Pentagon, and would moderate, IMO.

The problem with Paul is that he has problems articulating his exact positions the way in which Gingrich does. However, Newt has articulated so many positions that you never know which one he actually believes.

After the rally, Mumia Abu-Jamal’s supporters walked to a nearby abortion clinic, where they ate a buffet dinner served by members of Teachers Union Local 121, drank regional wines and were entertained by local hip-hop and new age musicians. A poetry reading followed, and several office buildings were set ablaze in honor of Abu-Jamal escaping the death penalty for his cold-blooded murder of a police officer.

A thug is a thug is a thug… someone needs to fire the federal court! Eric Holder again is behind this.. mark my words.. it does not matter to good old Eric that this man killed a white police officer.. another reason why when someone is sentenced to death you do exactly that within 72 hours of sentencing and you don’t feed and house them for 30 at the tax payers expense! God help us.. next they will let this guy out!

Letting him go would allow justice to prevail. Although, Bill Ayres walks free in Chicago, I guess no one in Illinois feels the need to correct this injustice.

      Randy…..
The answer? Far-far left Whites (Hollywood-types, many of them Jews), and of course..racist Blacks/Black -Nationalists with a score to settle.

Jamal supporters use the “Running-Man” myth to suggest that the actual shooter ran away from the scene.
The fact is, that the only eyewitness to the shooting who was near (very near, I might add, as I’am very familiar with the area) to where it happened, and who was interviewed at the scene by police 1/2 hr after Faulkner was shot, and who testified under oath at the trial, said the only person he saw running was the shooter.

Here’s the info on the only eyewitness:
In reality, the record reflects that only one of the individuals that Leonard Weinglass (Jamal’s lawyer) has labeled an “eyewitnesses” has ever stated or testified that they actually witnessed the shooting. That individual, Robert Chobert, was a prosecution witness. In his original statement, which was given to police only 1/2 hour after the shooting, Chobert stated:

“I looked up and saw the black male start running towards 12th St. He didn’t get far, maybe thirty or thirty-five steps and then he fell.”
      Robert Chobert Statement, 12-9-81

Further discrediting Weinglass’ fraud is the fact that Robert Chobert has consistently identified Mumia Abu Jamal as the killer, and did so both at the scene and in court, under oath.

Nothing that Holder does would surprise me.
If you read “Injustice”, by J Christian Adams, you will se that Holder ,through the civil rights division of the DOJ, is exacting revenge for injustices done to blacks in America’s past.
Holder is a racist with a huge chip on his shoulders towards Whites, and America. Holder’s boss has that same chip on his shoulders.
Anyone needs to read this book. I warn you…you will be infuriated!

Well, it’s clear the so called “justice system” isn’t going to work in this case either, so maybe the officers widow should just hope that another inmate will “shank” this loser when his back is turned.
