Murdered Victim’s Friends Assault Defendant During Wild Courthouse Brawl

Officials have just released video of a wild brawl that occurred last month in a Tacoma, WA courthouse.

The video shows police escorting a murder suspect through the halls when friends of the deceased victim storm past a guard, rush the defendant, and start beating him. Police eventually subdue the attackers, but only after using stun guns:

According to the News Tribune, the 20-year-old defendant, Marsele Henderson, was found guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting death of 18-year-old Victor Schwenke in November 2008.

The Tribune offers more details about the incident:

Henderson’s trial was marked by a melee outside Superior Court Judge John McCarthy’s courtroom June 30 when three friends of Schwenke’s attacked the defendant as he was being led back to jail after a hearing.

Three corrections officers and Henderson suffered minor injuries in the attack, in which the defendant was knocked down, punched and kicked.

Deputy prosecutors charged the alleged attackers with multiple counts of assault.

But the attack was just one of a string of incidents related to the case. The Tribune reports that “someone torched the car of a prosecution witness, and another witness was angrily confronted outside court after testifying.”

Henderson has not yet been sentenced.

    You take street people, let them glide through K-12th grade when they can’t even read or write, then you give them a free-ride through college — and you expect them to act professional in life? Really?

    This is utterly disgusting. I am disgusted with Conservatives for letting our country decay into such a pathetic vulgar, perverted, unjust, unfair, uneducated joke.

    I’m even more disgusted with white America for turning such a blind eye to anything done by people of color, all because you’re too scared of being labeled as a racist, when there’s nothing remotely racist about it.

    When they say the biggest disadvantage in America today is being a white, Christian male, they aren’t joking.

    Where is equality for whites? My ancestors when they emigrated from Germany in the 1850s were the farthest thing from racist. Why do I have to suffer and be treated unequally in America for something certain people of my race did generations ago? What does this have to do with me?

    This is absolutely disgusting what America has become today; a pathetic shadow of what it used to / should be.

    This is what it all comes down to people. This is the last battle. Liberals have waged war on Conservative America for decades now, and this is what it all boils down to. This is the most monumental time in our lives. Are you going to be the complacent, passive, scared cowards you’ve become or are you going to take a stand and reclaim our republic once

      I understand your frustration and you make some good points. The problem we are faced with is that of becoming polarized by these events. It does no good to fight fire with fire as the resulting blaze consumes both sides. The thug did deserve a good beating, but at the end of the day it does not bring back the victim and results in a criminal record. Vengeance is for the Lord, not for us. It may feel good, but it will destroy ones soul.

      You know everytime someone points out the facts and it involves black people, it always is considered racist. Well if our jails, prisons and junvenile systems were not made up of 85% blacks then maybe they would not have the stereotype that they do. Until the black population starts to enforce their own race with the problems that run rampent in their neighborhoods, racism will always be an excuse for their unlawful behavior.       If this type of thing didnt happen over and over again, I might think about it. But its a staple of their culture. If they didnt constantly do these things, we couldnt constantly point them out. So if the truth hurts, put some burn ointment on it and get back in the shadows.       You all jump on this as “racist”, yet if you substituted “Russian” for “black” in the statement AND it remained as is – an observation of what is really happening out there – nobody would consider it racist. Since when did it become “racist” to point out what is so?

      And, while it’s true that the statement was made with a very broad brush (and there are many exceptions to the rule), it does describe the vast majority of the group in question. Flash mobs, criminals, gangs, etc. seem emboldened by having “their guy” in the White House. The statements of his minions, such as Eric Holder, and his wife – who is basically a ghetto homegirl in an expensive suit – only serve to increase that attitude.

      Every time I hear of a riot, a beating, a brawl in a restaurant, a flash mob robbery, a torture-murder, a mob beat down, or something similar, I expect to read that it involved blacks and invariably it does.

      Yes, there ARE blacks in this society who behave well, BUT……..there are just WAY too many who don’t. And they represent the vast majority.

      Comments about bad black behavior and crimes nowadays are being HEAVILY criticized on all but the radical leftist newspaper forums. The comments here are not out of the ordinary. And this bad black behavior and criminal activity is being used against Asians and Hispanics as well, not just whites.

      People are getting outraged and militant and are speaking out against this epidemic of black crime in this country, especially in recent times.

      And, is the poster also right about all this being encouraged by Obama being in office? Yes, he probably is.

      @Robert, Is the entitlement mentality common among black people? Maybe, I don’t know until someone does some study, but I will agree that it seems like it. However, saying it is a black problem isn’t going to solve it. The color of their skin doesn’t cause the problem. It is the ideology that they have that causes the problem. I suspect old people have the same mentality, they just don’t go around beating people up. They sure do get riled up if you talk about cutting medicare, medicade, and social security. They think they are entitled, but saying we have an old person problem doesn’t solve that problem. The problem is the ideology, and that is the place to attack, not the skin color.

      Someone said if we used russian instead of black it wouldn’t be racist. Correct, russian is not a race, it’s a nationality. It also would be incorrect though to say there is a russian problem. However, we can say we have a muslim problem because we are talking about an ideology. A very violent ideology, and one that a person can choose. A person cannot choose their race. They can’t stop being black, but they can stop being ignorant or decieved by their ideology.

      We will never with the hearts and minds of people by attacking a race or nationality. We will win on the battlefield of ideas if we keep the fight there.

      Revealing an exception to the rule doesnot make the rule invalid.

      You have to understand that you have been used by elitists in this country for years. In order to protect their assets, power and money, it is vitally important to them to prevent riots and inter-tribal clashes at all costs. Societal chaos is the one sure thing that will stop the flow of commerce and taxes, both of which the elites desperately need to keep this free-enterprise machinery well-oiled and running properly.

      In order to keep the peace it was necessary to pretend the only difference between the people of the earth is skin color. To do that they embarked upon the scheme to laud diversity as the greatest thing since sliced bread and to demonize anyone who disagreed as “haters,“ and ”racists.”

      It’s worked beautifully in your case.

      Blacks cannot compete as a group in this country and it isn’t because of their skin color. It’s due to their level of intelligence and mental abilities. They also are prone to crime and violence, which is not only true in this country, but the world over. South Africa is the crime capital of the world. All Africa is backward and crime-ridden, and blacks fail in other nations they migrate to, not just the US, having high rates of crime and violence in other places also.

    I know the murderers family had nothing to do with the murder but still, once the murderer is in jail if a series of non lethal “accidents” happen to his mother and father or wife or children, over and over again over a long period of time, it would give the murderer something to chew over in his mind as he rots in prison.

    Check out that fat blob woman cop kicking one of the people when he is down and not resisting in the back of the video. She is doing the same thing that the person she is kicking came to do. Charge her with the same crime.

      The tasered guys that got kicked by the the overweight police officer (not sure if it was a man or a woman) will win the lawsuit lottery over this. They were rightly tased but the kicking was unjustified. It is hard to comply when your muscles are in uncontrollable spasm.

      Yes, I noticed the girl cop taking cheap shots at the incapacitated perp(s). Totally against policy and (I believe) against the law. Looks a lot like assault to me as the perp was prone on the ground. At the minimum, it was an abuse of force.

      And I also agree that it’s a cheap shot indicative of why women should not be police officers. Too many are unprofessional like that.

    This was entirely inappropriate, of course. But a part of me understands the rage of seeing the person who has murdered someone you cared about. Having had a child murdered myself, I really feared what would happen during the trial when my husband had to see the person who killed our son. Luckily there was no need for a trial in the end. But even when you are working hard at forgiveness, angered can be triggered, and it takes extraordinary control to keep from acting on it and to keep it from ruining your life.

      I‘m so sorry for your loss ma’am. I really think the need for revenge is just too powerful to overcome when one sees one responsible for a family member’s death. In many cases, the perp is smiling and making faces at the suffering family. All the while the family knows he will have three hots, a cot, law library, TV, contact visits. (In the news today, convict is alllowed to view porn in prsion by a judges order) etc, etc while behind bars. These blatant takers of life are totally worthless and should be terminated post haste once convicted, perferably by public hanging, just like the old days. Again, my codolences!!!!!

    cant say I blame them. however, the courts should’ve had an alternate route for all in-process inmates who should never have exposed to the public.

      I think judges should consider familial revenge as part of sentencing.

      I must say that I agree with you ….. I find the Next Story popup (that happens on every page once you are about 2/3 the way through the story) a pain in the proverbial.
