A Muslim activist and lawyer in the U.K. is calling on Muslims worldwide to burn U.S. flags outside American embassies on Sept. 11. The activist, according to CBS news, is considered a radical, and says his “international burn the Stars and Stripes Day” is in “direct retaliation” against pastor Terry Jones and his Florida church’s plan to burn the Koran on the same day.
The man calling for the mass burning is Anjem Choudary, former leader of the banned hardline Islamic group Islam4UK. According to CBS, Choudary regularly organizes demonstrations in Britain calling for the implementation of Islamic law.
The report also says that the State Department has issued a warning to all embassies to prepare for possible backlash should the Koran burning take place as planned on Saturday.
General David Petraeus, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, and others have spoken out against the planned Koran burning. Petraeus has said that it will endanger U.S. troops abroad, while Glenn Beck has said that “burning the Koran is like burning the flag or the Bible.”
UPDATE:
Meanwhile, an Afghan cleric today warned that U.S. troops in the country’s north would face large protests if Jones proceeds with his planned Koran burning. Yahoo News reports that Abdul Hadi Rostaqi, a member of the cleric council in Afghanistan’s largely peaceful Balkh province, said if the burning goes ahead, “a big protest will be held” in the provincial capital Mazar-i-Sharif next Monday, and that NATO-led troops stationed in the city would be the primary target.
The report also notes that about 200 people marched and burned a U.S. flag in the central Pakistani city of Multan, quoting one protester’s sign as saying, “If Quran is burned it would be beginning of destruction of America.”
Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki also warned of “reactions by the world’s Muslims as well as followers of other religions.”

They‘ve tested the waters and found that we’ve lost our strength; there’s nothing to fear here. And when you think about it, it makes perfect sense: from where does our strength come? When we turned our back on God, he withdrew his hand of protection from around us. We can only hope that there are enough God-loving, God-fearing Americans left to call on Him so that he, perhaps, will hear our voice and heal our land.

The stories and pictures we see of beheadings, the results of the abhorrent values of Sharia law, are not covert, but “in our face” overt.” They spit in our face, damn our country, curse the Christian faith, and yet we are to treat them like neighbors in order to be politically correct? • 1 Jn. 4: 20-21
20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
one might ask, “and who is my brother?” i‘d refer you to the Master’s reply when asked a very similar question. read luke 10:25-37. remember that the jews disliked the samaritans and classified them as a degenerate people, so there were strong feelings on both sides.

Report Post »LORDHELMET
Posted on September 9, 2010 at 8:30amYou ask “You really have to wonder who is stoking the flames”.
Well, honestly, sites at TheBlaze.com are very much stoking the flames. Take, for example, the Larry King Live bit with the Imam. When a headline reads “Imam TV Shock: Moving Mosque Would Endanger U.S. Troops”, please tell me, who is doing the priming, the stoking here?
Also, when somebody as popular and ubiquitous as Glenn Beck opts to only issue a BLOG statement denouncing the imminent Koran burnings in Florida, instead of using the incredible reach of his radio or TV show, one also has to wonder who is intentionally silent, restrained, low-key on an issue such as this.
Bottom line, please spare me the insinuations against so-called ‘liberals’ or the ‘liberal media’ making this whole situation worse. Fox News, Glenn Beck, Breitbart, Matt Drudge, etc, bear a damning load of responsibility in ‘fanning the flames’ of xenophobia, fear-mongering and bigotry, and ultimately, ratings and profits are all that matter.

Since 9/11 16,018 non-muslims have been murdered, their offense is their religion and their unwillingness to submit to Islam. Sharia Law is being implemented here in our own Country which is not compatible with our Constitution. While the majority of our media will ignore the implications of reality you should be grateful that some have elected to speak out, at great risk to their families. Imam Rauf stated if he elected to move the Mosque it will bring danger to American civilians, that is shocking, but what is more shocking is that he did not call upon Muslims to refrain from attacking our Nation or our Soldiers abroad or our Embassies. He made no effort to denounce the foreseeable tactics that will inevitably be bestowed upon us, he made no plea to the Muslims to not retaliate, he elected to explain what will happen if that rotten Pastor burns his Holy book.

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 10:32amLibertarian Infidel,
A) Not sure when I (or “You people”, as you refer to me) have stated the Glenn Beck has no influence. To the contrary, my post expressed frustration because of the very fact that Beck does yield a lot of sway in terms of reach and viewership. Feel free to point out where I said Beck has no influence.
B) As for the headline, you are incorrect. The headline as shown here on TheBlaze.com had a more objective ring to it, and was later changed to read “TV Shock!”. Perhaps it’s just me, but without the addition of “TV Shock”, the headline “Moving Mosque would endanger U.S. Troops” doesn’t really sound that insidious and threatening, but, of course, the news must be spun to outrage those who will be outraged.
C) I simply don’t buy that a blog statement, which, itself, is unusually restrained in tone and content for someone as flamboyantly hyperbolic as Glenn Beck tends to be. So, yes, I do believe that there is a method to this, an intentional restraint aimed at who knows what, perhaps not alienating those parts of his viewer/reader/listenership who would identify as passionate anti-Muslim bashers.
D) What have I done to help? Not sure, perhaps the very fact that I post on TheBlaze.com means that I believe there are many smart people here from all across the political spectrum, and it would be a shame if this place was merely meant an echo chamber for far right-wing expressions of opinion. Echo chambers serve no purpose other than to rile up and incite, so if we can keep this from becoming one, we all benefit, don’t you think? As such, we need to get away from “You people”, “You liberals”, “You right-wing nutjobs”. That’s not productive.
reformedradical
Posted on September 9, 2010 at 1:12pmHelmet, I have to respectfully disagree. Perhaps using language such as “TV Shock” is dramatic, but did you not find the Imam’s words to be disturbing and shocking on their own? Maybe it takes a dramatic headline to draw people into an article, but the Imam’s own words were nothing but a thinly veiled threat. In this kind of situation, it is sites such as The Blaze, and networks such as Fox, that are taking part in rightful critical analysis of the issue– albeit in a typically dramatic fashion, as is common with mass media. The more liberally directed news networks (which do, honestly, make up a decent portion of the mass media system), are downplaying the threats posed by radical Muslims, including the Imam in question. Would you rather have the media act like nothing is wrong, or would you rather have the media stand up and point out the dangers we face as Americans in this particular climate? Personally, I would choose the “right-wing” media, as it tends to point out truths that other media outlets ignore. On that note, do you remember the 8 years when Bush was in office and how the media treated him, as well as how they treated the Iraq war? I certainly remember those years. I hope you were posting responses on liberal sites at that time, accusing the left-leaning media moguls or stoking the flames.

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 4:12pmReformedradical,
The problem, as I see it, is that I consider the vast majority of the coverage of the entire Mosque controversy as little more than Kabuki theater aimed at riling up the right vote for November. There is currently much anti-Islam as well as (and this is far worse) anti-Muslim sentiment in this country, and this is owed in no small parts to the hyperbolic efforts of Fox News and its flagship lineup of ‘personalities’.
The danger here is, once the elections are over, and Foxnews, Limbaugh, Drudge, Palin, Beck, Breitbart, etc. have long moved on to their next media battlefield, the toothpaste of anti-Muslim fearmongering and rhetoric cannot be put back into the tube, and remains out there among the general populace, who will – in no small way thanks to the ‘noble’ efforts of the aforementioned people – still harbor all this anti-Muslim sentiment in them…
Not sure this is in the best interest of this country.

The Bible, in stark contrast, states that we should continue to pray for the non believer, not kill him. Just remember this, God said that we shall not have any other gods before Him. Does Sodom and Gomorrah ring a bell? If not, Noah and the Ark? God became so disgusted that he flooded the EARTH! I for one, am standing with Mr. Jones. Posted on September 9, 2010 at 11:03amall the adults took their ball and went home a long time ago. most “muslim” protests around the world are nothing more then 2 year olds throwing a tantrum because mommy and daddy took away their favorite blankie. as long as the “adults” in the world give back the blankie, the 2 year old will continue to throw the tantrum every time they don’t get what they want…
lets teach them a real lesson and ban Sharia Law in the US completely, even in a mosque since it violates the basic human rights of women and children that are enshrined in our Constitution. then when they protest and say “if you do this we will destroy you” we can point and laugh and tell them to go look at Iraq and Afghanistan and see who gets destroyed when you F with the USA

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 11:26amWhat the western world and most Christians do not realize is that Muslims actually worship the printed page of the Koran. Unlike the Bible it is not just a good book with life changing ideas printed on paper and everyone owns a dozen. To Muslims the book itself is Holy. Since Allah is not represented with an idol, the Muslim has made an idol out of the book itself just like the Jews did in Jesus’ day. Christianity (and thus the rest of our culture) emphasize the Man Jesus not the printed page. We cannot understand the Gut level disgust of literally burning the idol of their God. I threw out an old Bible that was worn out just the other day. They Muslim would not understand that either. There is a lot about the Islamic culture that we cannot understand from our Western world experience. I agree … don’t burn it. Not because it is holy, but because they feel it so. How can we ask them not to build at our “Holy Site” in New York because it isn’t right if we do the same thing? Christianity is about Love and Respect even of our enemies.

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 12:00pmThe Radical Islamic community is calling for more than flag burning. The killing of Americans if the Korans are burned. Actions speak louder than words and the actions regarding the mosque tells a very twisted story. If they were as sensitive to the revolt over this mosques location they would gain a lot of good will to move the site elsewhere but they are standing firm because this is so much more than a mosque, it’s conquest. Remember why it’s called Cordoba house !

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 5:52pmIt is instructive I think to consider what is going on from a different perspective. In the US, because of basic freedoms, like the freedom of speech, a man can exercise the right to do something stupid like burn some Korans. The muslims in America want to enjoy those same freedoms … or one assumes based on the recent controversy in NY, and yet they cannot accept that freedom when exercised by someone else.
Freedom means having to accept someone else’s bad taste.
When we look around the world at what the people of Islam are now expressing … we see the true colors of what that religion spawns. Retaliation, hatred, and mob violence. Is that the kind of religious freedom the founding fathers were trying to protect? Mmmmm ….

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 7:18pmPerhaps the media should be a little more aware of who they are giving a platform to, and the backlash when deciding to run a story. Why is some frustrated guy in Florida declaring a “Burn a Koran Day” at his church news worthy? We’re all frustrated by just about everything going on right now, and I get the point they guy was trying to make but running a story like that in light of world affairs is just irresponsible. Doesn’t anyone in the media ever stop and think “What emotions is this going to evoke , and what’s the worst case scenario as a result of my telling this story?” I mean seriously, could anything good happen? Reporter runs the story…threats are made, guy burns books anyway, more retaliation… OR Reporter runs story…threats are made, guy decides not to burn books, and radical Islam now sees us as weak because we backed down because of their threats. I like to be informed about current events but maybe next time, just don’t run the story.

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 8:37pmI have to rant on this;
I think it should be an every year habit — burn a Koran every September 11th. The attacks on the trade towers, the pentagon and in PA — 24 hour coverage — and make sure they show the scenes of the “peaceful” Muslim population dancing in the streets of America, too. Call me a pessimist, but I sure haven’t seen very many Muslims denounce what happened on 9-11 in this country. I have heard of no public apologies, and no outrage against the jerks that did this to begin with — only quiet appeasement.
Ya know, not all the Germans were Nazis, either — but lots of them were killed in the war.
Am I hateful? Naw …just darned angry!

Posted on September 10, 2010 at 7:39amOn Sept. 11,2001 JIHADISTS burned down the WTC’s,Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania along with 3000 Ameicans. America and the world were shocked but many Muslims danced in the streets. A radical pastor in Florida wants to burn a book and it is the American public that is outraged. The FBI is sent down right away. Where was the FBI while American troops funerals were being protested by the so-called Christian Church. No one will be dancing in the streets if he burns this BOOK.One thing is for sure many of us are not going to be crying over it either!!! Already he is being threatened and the American flag is being burned. The media spins the story as usual . It is all about the PASTOR!!! Wrong !! The story is about JIHADIST and the SHARIA LAW pigs!!! Someone and hopefully it is not one of our troops will be killed today in the name of ALLAH and SHARIA LA W!! Where is the POLITICALLY CORRECTNESS when you need it from the media?? JIHADIST and SHARIA LAW come from the KORAN. Not some pastor in Florida, not the Palistine State issue or any other Western policy. Imam Rauf and the RADICAL MUSLIM’s want it to become a “HOLY WAR” What the pastor is doing is playing right into their hands. Great soundbites for the Muslims to use to preach JIHAD to the illiterate suicide bombers!!!
Rauf’s statement said. “We are not going to toy with our religion or any other. Nor are we going to barter. We are here to extend our hands to build peace and harmony.” LMAO!!!! You are doing a GREAT job of it!!!! We see right through you!! Either you are afraid of the RADICAL’S or you are one of them!!! You want PEACE and HARMONY then say the Mosque will be moved out of respect for the victims of the WTC’s. This JIHAD started way before Sept.11,2001.
Always Remember “The Peacekeepers” 241 marines KIA on Oct.23,1983 in Beirut,Lebanon while they slept by an Iran backed Hezbollah JIHADISTS!! and all the others killed by your PEACEFULL religion!!

Posted on September 10, 2010 at 7:33pmThe irony to me is the veneration placed on the Quran by Muslims. Desecration of a book is terms for war? Is that any way to treat another human? Bridge builder and peace loving Feisal Abdul Rauf ? It is truly ironic that the Quran and Bible are at issue. I do not mean to minimize the religious physical value of either, however as Christians, the Bible asks us to follow the word of Christ. It is “action oriented” and our salvation (to believers) lies in our actions. The Bible in principle only delivers the word of God. Go ahead burn it…burn 10,000 Bibles, we can get more. How about one in every hotel/motel room in America, thanks to our friends the Gideon’s. The irony to me is the veneration placed on the Quran by Muslims. Desecration is terms for war? Is that any way to treat another human? Bridge builder and peace loving Feisal Abdul Rauf ? “He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone at her.” John 8:1-7
