Muslim Brotherhood Vows to Shun Israel: ‘It’s Illogical to Have Any Dialogue’

Muslim Brotherhoods Mahmoud Ghezlan Shuns IsraelMuslim Brotherhood spokesperson Mahmoud Ghezlan told the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper on Wednesday that the militant group will neither speak nor meet with Israeli officials. He added that the Brotherhood’s stance on Israel is unwavering and not up for discussion.

“It’s illogical to have dialogue, any dialogue, in light of the Israeli practices against the Arab peoples,” the paper quoted Ghezlan as saying.

Meanwhile, in the spirit of cooperation, Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesperson Yigal Palmor told Israeli radio that Israel has not ruled out talks.

“We will be happy to hold dialogues with whoever wants to have dialogue with us,” Palmor said.

Egypt Independent adds:

The Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party controls 47 percent of the seats in the newly formed People’s Assembly, but the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces is still running the executive branch of Egypt’s government.

Some fear that Islamists will push for ending the 1979 peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.

Western officials met with several Muslim Brotherhood and Islamist leaders after People’s Assembly elections.

Ghezlan said the Brotherhood has not yet received a similar invitation from the Israeli Embassy in Cairo, but that any such request would be rejected.

      I side with them.israel should cease it’s unjust occupation and return to the 67borders-then all arabs including musim brotherhood would accept them. That racist state does not deserve to have the noble muslim brotherhood treat them like they’re legitimate in occupying arabs and insisting they have to have a majority jewish population. racists.

      Are you telling me that if the Israelis returned to the original 67 border lines all of a sudden they wouldn’t be hated by millions of Islams? Give me a break, Israel has had numerous opportunities to run their neighboring Arabs completely out of their lands after being attacked over and over, but they have always stopped their tanks and turned back to appease international public relations. Don’t willingly give them an inch!

      Um Rose, Israel’s first war with Egypt was in 1948. The war of 1967 was the third war between the two countries. Why would pulling out of Gaza, which never legally belonged to Egypt, change anything. Also, when were the 67 “borders” as you called them agreed upon? NEVER. That‘s just where the the lines happened to be when a ceasefire was declared after Israel’s war of independence. There was never an official treaty to establish where the borders are. Until that happens the territory is in dispute, much like the one between India and Pakistan.

    db321, your not serious are you? Israel bombing everyone? During last years peace with pa and Israel, there were 680 rockets fired into Israel…the only problem I see is that Israel did not clean sweep gaza and take back the land. Please read more news then msnbc.

    This is exactly how the Democrats work.. its either don’t do anything at all, or do it behind someones back! So even though Israel has put an effort into solving problems these evil people won’t talk, won’t try to fox it.. Sooooooo who is really the problem? Its like Gov. Walker… who was prepared to talk.. and the Democrats fled the state, had an unscheduled vacation and didn’t do an ounce of work.. And why aren’t the people in WS. firing their arses..       The toothpick warrior in chief puppet is holding the ropes of foreign aid to their country and trying to tell them what to do, he doesn’t want Israel attacking.

      Consider Ron Paul: we get out of the way, Israel goes after them; if it turns into a larger conflict and the people of America want war, we lobby congress and we get a declaration of war n go kick ass.

      Anyone else just has to play the foreign aid game. I want to see Israel beat down their neighbors; I wont lie. If too many nations jump on them and it gets tough, I’d like congress to declare war, I’d like to see the whole nation behind it; not just a president exercising an illegal power. Then, I’d like us to leave a smoldering ruin of those nations and return home triumphant without dropping a dime in that region to redevelop it. Let them see what Allah brings them.

      Before Obama took office – I often wondered about the Bible mentioning that in a time to come the whole World would come against Israel – I thought it was impossible at that time – Then Obama was elected the White Mosque and within three years Israels allies are disappearing right before our eyes – Oh well – I’m not worried – I read on in the Bible and it basically said that “When the dust settles Israel ”the apple of gods eye” will still be standing.

      My favorite part is that God said, what you do to Israel he would do to you – Now I wonder what Country is going to turn it’s back on Obama because he turned his back on Israel?

    Just as Obama planned when he threw Mubarak and his government under the bus.Obama, through his buddies at FaceBook and Google, went to both Egypt and Libya to intentionally sowed the seeds of discontent within their populations so he could manipulate them into forcing regime change. Obama’s version of Nation building by getting rid of US & Israeli allies and replacing them with enemies…..which of course are allies of the anti-US & anti-Israel leftist here.       So are you saying we shouldn’t have imposed a no fly zone over Libya? After all, we shouldn’t be imposing on them, right? But we did. We helped overthrow a dictator. As for Mubarak, he just replaced Sadat after said president’s assassination (he was vice president at the time). Sadat had replaced Nasser after he died shortly after the 1967 war. Nasser had gained power in a coup during the 50s and his rise was OPPOSED by many western nations. Mubarak only inherited power, we didn’t give it to him. At best we had dealings with him (not something to be proud of though).

I have no idea what percentage of the middle east’s oil we purchase, but I am assuming that reducing that percentage to 0 would have a damaging affect to their economy and their level of disdain/appreciation levels for us will go through an adjustment.
