Muslim College Student Vanishes Before Leaving Voicemail Message

A 19-year-old Missouri college student disappeared Friday while studying outside of the University of Knansas Edwards campus. But just before her disappearance, she left a troubling voicemail for her sister. In the message, received Friday morning, Aisha Khan said that a drunk man had been harassing her and that she had slapped him.

“She said ‘you need to pick up your phone, I’m confused.’ She was freaked out,” Khan’s sister told KMBC. Khan’s backpack and cell phone were later found abandoned at a picnic table near campus, which is leading police to suspect foul play.

“We have no information that it was an abduction and no information that it wasn’t,” Overland Park Police Chief John Douglass said at a news conference Monday. “We are looking at it as a missing person case and putting the resources into it as if it was an abduction.”

ABC News reports that FBI agents are assisting the Overland Park Police Department in the investigation, and Khan’s family is offering a $10,000 reward for information regarding her disappearance

Police have interviewed Khan’s family, friends, students, faculty and construction workers who were working nearby. Some of the construction workers believe they saw someone that matched Khan’s description walking away from the area alone, but police have not yet confirmed if it was Khan. FBI agents have searched the campus, nearby woods, a creek bed, park and a nearby golf course to no avail.

Aisha is a devout Muslim and was married over the summer. Her disappearance has reportedly sparked an outpouring of support from Aisha’s extended family, Kansas City residents, and the Muslim community.

    thank God , she has been found unharmed!!! She is safe !! At this time thier will not be any criminal charges.

    I would pray for her but being the devout muslim that she is, she would probably be offended. So I dont know what to do. Good luck I guess.

    Unfortunetly there are evil people in this country too. This could have been prevented though. Everyone, specially women, need to pay more attention to their surroundings. And for heavens sake, get a concealed carried permit if your state allows, or at least some pepper spray.

      She should of had a gun for self defense. By the time a cop gets there( 23 min is average) she would still have been gone.

    This is simply one of two things—

    1 – She wants to leave islam and this was her “out” or
    2 – She is a puppet to garner sympathy and support for the muslim community. A taquiyaa-inspired sham where guaran-damn-teed the “abductor” will turn out to be some redneck, bible-thumping, scary dangerous fundamental Christian.

    In other words, a non-story.

    She had to lie to run of with her Aerican boy-friend, other wise her father or brothers would have had to do a “honor killing”. I hope she is found safe and unharmed but I just think this all sounds strange.

      Yea they’re paying 10,000 dollars so they can kill her. What sounds strange about a 5′2, beautiful 19 year old girl disappearing? It happens all the time. It’s even less surprising that she is a muslim girl who disappeared in a country where there is known violence against muslims on a daily basis. There are plenty of muslims out there that dont believe in violence and have come to America to (omg) ESCAPE the horror of living in a country where rape and honor killings are the norm.

    I think it’s obvious that this woman and her family do not practice sharia law. She goes to American university, wears make up and seems to only wear a scarf sometimes. If her family lived under Sharia she would be forced to hide her face and make up would be the work of the Great Satan.

    And if her family thought there was a chance that she would be returned “unclean”, why offer such a large reward? The family is obviously deeply hurting by this loss and I pray she is found safe. Why does it matter if she is a muslim?

    They also stated on a radio station that she had a pre-arranged marriage 2 weeks ago!! We are just wondering why she did”nt call 911, maybe she did”nt like who they picked for her life long mate.

      Perhaps it is just a fake call so she can run off with her boy friend and live in peace without her father’s interference. Wherever the situation, I hope she is safe. I wonder what happens if she is returned “damaged goods” according to Sharia Law? Will they kill her?

    Ladies, if you are out by yourselves, please keep a gun, or a stun-gun, or mace – something on your person to defend yourself with. If someone is bothering you, get yourself around other people quickly. Ask for help.

      I totally agree with you. Everyone needs to keep an eye out and be aware of your surroundings, identifying safe places in case of an emergency. Judges are more likely to lock up a dog killer and offer up probation for a serial child molester. I have no idea what relevance her religion is on this story. I‘m going to take a TSA approach to this and say she’s just a woman.
