Muslim Group Demands Huckabee Apology for ‘Infidel’ Comments

A story recently posted on The Blaze asked, “Should Christian Churches Rent Space for Muslim Worship?” One of the churches in question emailed us to let us know that while they opened their doors to Muslim worshipers, they did not rent them the space. “Our relationship with our neighbors continues to grow in love, trust and mutual respect for one another,” they said.

Is the difference between renting out a space and welcoming Muslims into the space for free enough to change people’s opinions on the subject?

A panel on Fox News debated the subject Monday:

Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has also weighed in on the debate and his opinion is drawing some scrutiny.

During a recent appearance on “Fox and Friends,” Huckabee said he did not understand why churches would make that sort of decision.

“If the purpose of a church is to push forth the gospel of Jesus Christ, and then you have a Muslim group that says that Jesus Christ and all the people that follow him are a bunch of infidels who should be essentially obliterated, I guess I have a hard time understanding that,” he said.

“Is there a reason to say that the people who donated, who gave, who sacrificed to give that facility really ever intended it to be a place where something that is the antithesis of the gospel of Christ would be presented?” he added. If a church is nothing more than a meeting place, it could be “rented out to show adult movies on the weekend.”

But some Muslims are taking special offense to Huckabee’s comments. On Monday, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) called Huckabee’s comments on the religion divisive and misunderstood.

“On this Presidents’ Day, we ask Mike Huckabee — a person who may again seek the highest office in the land — to live up to the principles of tolerance and interfaith respect that make our nation great,” Nihad Awad, the national executive director of CAIR, said in a statement. “We urge Mr. Huckabee to do some research and to apologize for his inaccurate and offensive remarks.”

CAIR’s statement also pointed out that Jesus is discussed in the Koran as a prophet, along with Abraham, Moses and others.

    Who cares if some muslim group is offended ? I am offended by the presence of Islam in my Christian country. They have shown their intentions quite clearly to America. They hate us, they want to bring sharia law to America. My answer, NO WAY!

    Let me get this straight…Huck didn’t call them “infidels”. He said “They call us infidels?” And they have a problem that we’re quoting them? Shall we just quote the Koran instead? So it demonstrates intolerance to take a Muslim at his word, now?

O’Neill, Sr., the former FBI counterterrorism chief who perished at the World Trade Center, named CAIR in a lawsuit as having “been part of the criminal conspiracy of radical Islamic terrorism” responsible for the September 11 atrocities. Counterterrorism expert Steven Emerson calls it “a radical fundamentalist front group for Hamas.”

    I seem to recall a story only a couple of years ago that showed that CAIR only had 1700 actual members, and that the numbers were dropping.
    The point being made by the article was that CAIR did NOT speak for muslims living in America.
    I wish I could remember where I saw it, and I’d be interested to know how many members it currently has.

You do not hate the sinner but hate the sin and according to MY bible there is only one way to heaven. John 14.6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” We are to discern the truth not be so PC we allow something so contrary to the core of our beliefs in our churches.     SERIOUSLY .. don’t ALL MUSLIMS have ENOUGH on their hands. Here’s my “KINDA MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHAT HUCKABEE SAID LIST”:

    a) help the people of IRAN throw out the nutcase radical muslims
    b) find a way to get along with each other (Shiah and Sunni)
    c) give muslim women their voice and choice
    d) perhaps, I don’t know .. stop stoning people
    e) etc etc.

    Americans. It will take a whole lot of cheek truning however before I believe that they are not just putting on a show until thy step in to positions of power. Once they are in charge of the law, then good by fresh air hello burka, goodby free speech, hello machete.

    I‘m not surprised that the Muslim Brotherhood’s entity Hamas-linked CAIR is coming forward to excoriate anyone who defends Christian values and Christians in general.

    Islam is the antithesis of Christianity. We teach to love our neighbor while they teach to hate the infidel and the Jew. Why would they want to pray in a Christian church when they are burning them down and killing Christians in their Middle Eastern countries? Maybe when they stop their vicious attacks on Christians and Jews all over the world we will start accepting them into our Churches. Until then it is an affront on all the Christians they are killing in Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, Iran and throughout the whole Muslim world.

    It’s a huge insult to Christianity and Judaism to accept their utter duplicity in wanting to pray in a Christian Church. What will they doing in there? Cursing us?

    Sorry. I say no to having them worship in our Chuches until they accept us to openly worship in theirs as Christians and believers in Jesus Christ, and until they stop advocating the killing of infidels and Jews throughout the world.

    Theirs is an aparteid religion. It is a religion that doesn’t integrate. That doesn’t accept any other religion. It is the only religion in the world that is now after 14 centuries still killing people because of what religion they are. In other words, they’re still executing Christians and Jews and stoning them and killing them in the 21st Century.

    Hamas-linked CAIR is a contemptible organizaton. It supports Hamas and terrorism. While they continue to kill us all around the world and indulge in their taquia here they are attempting to shut us up while they’re killing us.

    In Europe they have successfully brought about laws where they are hauling people into court and silencing them for supposedly “insulting” Islam when they are criticizing the brutal acts of Sharia. Sharia is their silencing arm and they do it through intimidation and horrific acts of torture and cruelty and by litigating us to death. Sharia doesn’t even spare their own children from horrific acts of cruelty where I saw them run over the arm of a small boy with a car because he stole something, among other unmentionable atrocities that are going on as we speak.

    CAIR should shut the heck up and this government should shut them down. They don’t belong in America. They are the arm of Hamas which is the arm of the Muslim Brotherhood so nothing good can come out of them. Nothing good at all!

    Get out of America CAIR. You are terrorists in a suit, that’s all. We don’t want you here. You are the problem. And Islamic fascism is the scourge of this earth. In this 21st century we aim to stop your plundering and pillaging. Got it?

      I believe that technically, Muslims consider Christians and Jews to be “Children of The Book,” because they are believers in the God of Abraham. The “infidels” are members of non-Abrahamic faiths. But, that doesn‘t mean they won’t subjugate Christians or Jews — or worse. Under Shariah law, Christians and Jews are Dhimmi, with fewer rights than Muslims.

      I wonder if that’s what they called 69-year-old Leon Klinghoffer before they tossed him over the side of the Achille Lauro, with his wheelchair.
      Both faiths have horrible injustices that have been perpetrated by members of their faith, but I do not here of any contemorary Christian faiths calling for forced conversions under pain of death or demanding theocratic law be enforced on people of other faiths regardless of the country they live in.
      Facts are facts and the fact is coexistance with other faiths has become the norm for almost all Christians. I am not sure this can be said for almost all Muslims.

      Might want to study just a bit more…references to “people of the book” references the islamic belief that “the Book” of the Jews & Christians – aka the Bible, Torah…is a corruption and heretical work of man that distorts the call of Allah and the prophet Mohamed and is in no way shape or form calling us “fellow believers” since we do not follow the Koran.

      Try reading the writings of Sam Solomen….

      Allah and Jehovah ARE NOT the same – wjen you understand the cahracter of Jehovah vs Allah – you will know there is a huge difference

      because Christians believe in the Trinity muslims think Christians believe in many Gods, so that makes Christians polytheists according to the muslim quran… look what is written all over the Dome of the Rock, inside and outside is written “there is no god but allah and he had no son”…who then would the muslims be talking about if it is not Christians….I dont know of any other God who had a Son except the God of the Bible…..so it cant be directed to any one else…..and since Jews and Christians believe in the same God…well there ya go…..

Christains should never allow Muslums to gather in the Christain Churches,it’s like inviting a rattlesnake into your home,as i said i do like Huckabee but i don’t think he should become President,spiritual advisor to the president would be a good job for him

      Docgreen… I didn’t know he was muslim, but I’m not surprised. To the statement that Islam sees Jesus as a prophet… look into that further. The whole critical pivotal issue of Christianity is the FACT that Jesus was born, he suffered, and he died for our sins, and was resurrected from the dead. Islam does not believe that Jesus died on the cross, or that he was resurrected for the salvation of mankind. That is a very critical distinction. (I find it interesting in the most recent publication by Time for the 100 most influential people born, Jesus did make the ‘cut’, but it says nothing about his resurrection….not even that “his followers believe…”. I find that exclusion significant.)

      Col West did handle the attack on him by CAIR appropriately. I believe what Huckabee said is true. I really wonder if that minister would feel the same way if a bunch pagan worshipers came to his door and asked for permission to use his church for worship services. The bible warns of being “neither hot nor cold” in our faith. Christianity is under an unrelenting attack from multiple directions in the United States. It is time for Christians to boldly take a stand for Jesus. We do forget that there are people who are dying/being killed around the world for their faith, and there is a long tradition of martyrdom in previous years. The attack on Huckabee that he needs to realize he may be running for office is a below the belt deliberate aggressive response to Huckabees statements. CAIR is on the aggressive attack. The demonstration coming up in DC will be not doubt interesting.

      If Huckabee leaves you feeling cold, I don’t know what politician could ever make you feel warm and fuzzy… Even if you don’t agree with Mike (which I sometimes don’t) he is still a very likable figure. His personality is what has gotten him to where he is. People (especially devoted Christians) easily warm up to him.

      To all of you that think Huckabee is not being a nice christian, did you forget that Jesus called the pharisees all kinds of names and was not nice to them MOST of the time, or when Jesus turned over the tables in the marketplace ? You christians better understand that the koran tells them to kill infidels (non-muslims) specifically christians and jews, God decides who he is going to save, you can preach the gospel all you want, that is good, but if you think that God will save most of these muslims you are mistaken, very few convert.

      We should ALL unceasingly spread the truth that CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in terrorist assisting activities. Their leadership has a long history of affiliation with terrorist organizations. The continually attempt to promote themselves as the voice of the muslim population in America. They are liars.

      Huckabee is factually correct, and spiritually true. He needs to handle CAIR the same way that Col. West did.

      Huckabee falsely assumes that a Muslim group seeking to rent space from a church necessarily wants to “obliterate” Christians. This could be true, of course. Just like there are Christians who have called for forced conversions of Muslims at swordpoint (e.g., Ann Coulter).       Heartsong Church of Memphis is a Methodist Church. I went to their, rather extensive, website and could not find one reference to “Sin”, the “Cross”, the “Blood of Christ”, the “Resurrection”, the “Bible” or the “Word of God”. They only refer to Jesus and some isolated teachings of Jesus’ that the Muslims refer to…the one who is only a teacher and a prophet. Not the One who gave up His life to sanctify those who would cling to Him….the One who stood in our place for the death of our sins.

      Get that??? NO mention of cross, blood or resurrection to new life. And, no mention of the Bible or inerrant Word of God. They are only Jesus followers….not Christian. They are only a religion….not a way of life…. although they claim to be a way of life….because they disregard the true Jesus (the Christ).

      I am definitely not a Huckabee fan, but I do give credit when due and he was right in his opposition to this church sharing deal.

      That said I could never vote for him as I think the way he sabotaged Mitt Romney’s campaign and staying in the race when he had no chance just to pull votes from Mitt was despicable. How can you be for Gingrich so you have no problem with him being a member of the CFR and I guess you excuse his pushing NAFTA and GATT two very devastating treaties that have cost our country millions of high paying jobs. You can still hear the sucking sound of those companies going overseas.

      Meekness is not weakness. I am not one of these people that say love your enemy and let them walk all over you or distroy you. No way, but we should be firm and not back down. We can stand our ground and be loving at the same time. It is a hard thing to do but it was Christ that said ” love our enemies, bless them that curse you”.       CAIR reps know the Quran, and thus know that it makes frequent use of the term infidel. It is disingenuous of them to criticize Huckabee’s use of it. Huckabee, like me, being a preacher, sees the need to understand other religions. In my studies of Islam I have learned that Muslims may lie and deceive others in their attempts to advance Islam. CAIR is also quite familiar with this doctrine. Islam is more than just a religion: It is a religious and political ideolog.
