Muslim Outreach? NASA Chief Heads to Saudi Arabia

Just months after NASA Administrator Charles Bolden drew public attention for claiming his “foremost” directive from the Obama White House was increased outreach to the Muslim world, he’s embarked on a trip this weekend to Saudi Arabia.
In early July, Bolden told Al Jazeera network that one of President Obama’s directives for him was “to reach out to the Muslim world and engage with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science and engineering.” Days later, the White House contradicted Bolden’s remarks; Press secretary Robert Gibbs reported that such activities were not among Mr. Bolden’s assigned duties.
A NASA spokesman told Fox News Friday that Bolden’s trip to Saudi Arabia is part of a “multi-country tour.”
A NASA spokesman said the visit is part of a multicountry tour. Administrator Charles Bolden and a delegation of several other NASA officials arrive in Saudi Arabia on Friday following a trip to Prague. From the Middle East, they will head next to Nepal where Bolden will give a keynote address at a climate change conference.
Though Bolden’s comments about Muslim outreach earlier raised concerns that the White House was squeezing him into an out-of-place diplomatic role, NASA spokesman John Yembrick said the trip “was not initiated” by either the White House or the State Department.
“This trip, including the visit to Saudi Arabia, is driven by specific, appropriate agency-level objectives,” he said in an e-mail.
On Bolden’s itinerary this weekend is an aerospace technology conference and a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the shuttle flight STS-51G, a U.S. mission that carried the first Muslim into space. According to Fox, Bolden may also hold a meeting with King Abdullah during his time in Saudi Arabia.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that Bolden makes the trip despite “several top NASA officials” having urged him not to, a likely attempt to avoid re-conjuring criticism from the president’s conservative critics over the changed role for NASA.
At the end of last month, Bolden was publicly reprimanded for violating ethics rules after “inappropriate” communications with a senior Marathon Oil Corp. executive. NASA’s inspector general reported that the 10-minute phone conversation last April was inconsistent with an ethics pledge the Administrator signed when he took office in 2009. Further, the IG said the conversation raised concerns about an appearance of conflicting interests during a time when the space agency was considering an alternative fuels project.

Posted on October 1, 2010 at 11:43pmI never thought I could think of NASA as anything but America’s finest…but now I can.
Mr. Obama trashes yet another American icon. Oh, and don’t ask the American taxpayers to support sending Americans into space on a foreign spaceship in the future. We had our own space program…Mr. Obama trashed it and lost the hearts of adventurous Americans.
Sending NASA over to the Muslim countries is a slap in the face to every astornaut – regardless of country or race. They worked hard, dreamed hard and accomplished what no other men ever will, and Mr. Obama calls himself a leader.
As usual, Mr. Obama didn’t think anything through. I wonder how hard the Muslims, Russians and Chinese are laughing right now. They now have complete control over space and every sattelite in it. Seriously, Mr. Obama, do you actually believe they have any intention of sharing ANYTHING with you?
While the taxpayers pay their last dimes to the government, who will hire more people to do a study on why Americans have lost hope, you won’t know one thing about new scientific discoveries, communications systems or space flights taking place. Poor Mr. Obama has bowed and groveled and apologized until the world is laughing at him and his weakness. It’s downright embarrasing.
Hang in there, NASA. DOn’t stop inventing or designing. You will be reinstated to your rightful place – albeit with a new chief the minute Mr. Obama leaves office. Don’t you dare give up on the Americans people or our dreams. Oh, and make sure to vote in the upcoming election.

Keep these foreigners out of our national technological centers. They’ve been taking the Muslim nations to NASA, and to the Counter Terrorism Centers, They are getting to know us pretty well.
It is not NASA’s purpose to spend our space development money to try to inspire religions.
We need to keep on top of the space program, one of our last bastions of Exceptionalism. And the rewards from investments in NASA have always been great, both monetarily and in peace and safety for the The US and the world.

Posted on October 2, 2010 at 8:47amYes, somebody can be reaching out to the Muslim world without being a Muslim. This is not a case with Obama. The evidence screams that he is a Muslim.
In one interview, Obama told that Muslim Call for prayer is “the prettiest sound on earth”. He even recited few first lines from this call for prayer where he told in perfect Arabic “Allah is Great, Allah is Great. There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger.” Reciting the Shahada, the Muslim declaration of faith, makes one a Muslim, and tells the Muslim world that you are in complete acceptance of, and total commitment to the message of Islam. Obama has extensive Muslim background, he knew what he was doing. In addition, many times, Obama referred to the Koran as the “holy Koran” while mocking the Bible and Christians.
Percy Sutton, a staunch Obama’s supporter, told in interview (you can see it on YouTube):
“I was introduced to him (Obama) by a friend who was raising money for him. The friend’s name is Dr. Khalid Al-Mansour from Texas. He is a principle advisor to one of the world’s richest man, Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal. He told me about Obama, wrote to me about him, and his introduction was: ‘There is a young man that is applied to Harvard. I know that you have a few friends left there. Would you please write a letter in support of him.’”
It was Saudi’s Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal who paid for Obama’s education in Harward. Would he do it if Obama was not a Muslim?
Pakistani Minister of State for Industries Ayatullah Durrani wants President Obama to offer Muslim prayers at Ground Zero and become the “Caliph,” or ruler, of the Islamic nation, according to Pakistan’s The Nation newspaper. Would he do it if Obama was not a Muslim? Would this Muslim minister want a non-Muslim to be the Caliph (ruler) of all Muslims. Islam is not a religion of tolerance.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Abul Gheit said on the Nile TV “Round Table Show” that he had had a one on one meeting with Obama who swore to him that he was a Moslem. Was Egyptian Foreign Minister lying? I do not think so.
The list with evidence clearly indicating that Obama is a Muslim goes on and on and on. If you need more, I can present you more, much more. But do you really need more?

I agree with you in principle. However, there is such a thing as the morale of a society. Societies that are alive and vibrant explore and examine and stretch the boundaries of reality.
If we want to save *trillions*, we can end entitlement programs, which currently absorb about 1.2 trillion a year. I’m sure we can afford a bit of space exploration, for medicinal reasons of course, on a fraction of the savings there…..

Posted on October 1, 2010 at 11:18pmDinesh D’Souza made a conclusion that Obama is anti-colonialist based on Obama’s book “Dreams From My Father”. The problem is that Obama did not write this book. There is a sufficient evidence that Bill Ayers was a host writer of “Dreams From My Father”. Therefore, all thoughts in this book actually belong to Bill Ayers. This anti-colonial ideology may be found in the Weather Underground Manifesto. It does not mean that Obama is not anti-colonialist. He may well be.
Report Post »But, this story with Saudi Arabia, all his outreach to Muslim world cannot be explained by Obama’s anti-colonialial ideology. Nevertheless, if you ask yourself a question, “What if Obama is a Muslim?”, then a lot of his statements and deeds can be perfectly explained. You’ve got to think like the future head of a global tyranny. If you go and advance space exploration, that will only serve to engender hope among the world’s peoples that escape may one day be possible. Hopes and dreams are powerful motivators and must be crushed at every opportunity. Complete demoralization, hopelessness, and resignation to their fate is the preferred state of mind for slaves, after all.
O Lord, how I pray I was writing that in complete jest. :(
I refuse to abandon hope and the dream of a once-again free America leading the way forward as humanity takes it’s place among the stars. America and it’s people are capable of miracles with a firm reliance on Divine Providence, as history has proven over and over.
Obama and his Progressive minions & puppetmasters are an attack on this country as surely as was 9/11. Like that terrible tragedy, we will overcome and rebuild our space exploration capabilities after cleaning house and setting our great Nation back on the path to being the Shining City On The Hill that Reagan described with such inspiration and reliance on Divine Providence.

Hussein called Daley and said “retire” probably offered him a lofty sum of taxpayer’s money. So now all he has to do is get Rahm elected.. which I’m sure is in the bag.. you know.. dead voters and other fakes. Here’s the deal.. he can check Chicago off his list of cities that he now has direct control of.. and he marches on in his remake of America the way he and Bill Ayers have dreamed and plotted.. isn’t Bill Ayers a blue eyed devil? That confuses me.

Posted on October 2, 2010 at 5:59amObama’s bow in Saudi Arabia has already signaled to the Islamic street that America has submitted to Sharia. Don’t forget to make you own bows as you travel the circuit. Oh, and the Jizya. Don’t forget to pay the Jizya!.

Posted on October 2, 2010 at 9:26amAs a child I idolized the astronauts, was so proud of NASA and our accomplishments in space. Even dreamed of going into outer space one day.
How sad to see how far NASA has fallen. A once proud agency dying “not with a bang, but a whimper”.

Posted on October 2, 2010 at 11:18amNow let’s see here, what could possibly have Saudi Arabia interested in jump-starting a non-existent lunar expedition program out of nowhere?
“What is mining the moon for helium-3, Trebek?!”
Follow the money and resources. It’s got nothing to do with Muslim outreach. That‘s the very bad cover story to take the attention off of the Obama administration sneaking out the backdoor with our country’s technology to redistribute our plans and wealth so we can’t “go colonial” on the moon.
Ask yourselves, why would Obama suddenly find fiscal clarity in becoming a budget hawk for a brief stitch in time, to cancel the NASA Constellation Program last February, which Bush enacted in 2004 to send our country back to the moon? When the Senate told Obama to hold-off while they committeed on what the implications would be to cancel Constellation so hastily, Obama unilaterally canceled it anyways while they were in committee after he promised them time. Strange for an administration that has never met a dollar it doesn’t like to spend.
While we’re all busy being distracted by the idea that our government is canoodling yet again with the shadier side of Islam, the fact is they‘re selling us out to every nation with half a space program or two Sanjay’s, Chang’s, or Mohamed’s in a radio tower with a telescope…allowing America to sit idly by while the rest of the world races past us to the next great energy source.

Posted on October 2, 2010 at 1:02pmThis is really !#$#@%@ing stupid.
You know the numeral system we use in America was created by the Arabian nations influenced by Islam? The story of Aladdin, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, Tales of the 1001 Nights, all come from a golden age in Arabian nations, influenced by Islam.
Thanks to them, we don’t have Roman numerals to work with. Absolutely stupid.

You mentioned that the Muslim world gave us the numeral system; the story of Aladdin, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, and Tales of the 1001 Nights.”
You are certainly right, and I believe that everyone who appreciates the arts should be grateful for the contribution. I also believe that the quid pro quo should not be a gradual subordination of Western culture to Sharia.
