‘My Assassination’: Investigators Find Loughner‘s ’I Planned Ahead’ Message

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities on Sunday charged a 22-year-old man described as a pot-smoking loner with trying to assassinate Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and killing others at a political event, revealing that he had scrawled on an envelope the words “my assassination” and “Giffords.”
The discoveries at his home in southern Arizona, however, provided few answers to a shocked nation, from the victims of Saturday’s shooting rampage to lawmakers worried about their safety: What motivated the rampage outside a supermarket that killed six and injured 14?
Giffords, 40, lay in intensive care at a Tucson hospital, after being shot in the head at close range. Doctors said she had responded repeatedly to commands to stick out her two fingers, giving them hope she may survive.
Court papers filed with the charges against Jared Loughner said he had previous contact with the Democratic lawmaker. The documents said he had received a letter from Giffords in which she thanked him for attending a “Congress on your Corner” event at a mall in Tucson in 2007.
Investigators carrying out a search warrant at his parents’ home in a middle-class neighborhood found an envelope in a safe with the words “I planned ahead,” ”My assassination“ and the name ”Giffords” next to what appears to be Loughner’s signature.
An official familiar with the Arizona shooting investigation said Sunday that local authorities are looking at a possible connection between Loughner and an online group known for white supremacist, anti-immigrant rhetoric.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing investigation, said local authorities were examining the American Renaissance website for possible motives.
The group’s leaders said in a posting on their website that Loughner never subscribed to their magazine. registered for any of the group’s conferences or visited their Internet site.
The young man, who lived with his parents, was recently suspended from his community college for disruptive behavior and told he could not return until a mental health professional determined he was not a danger to himself or others.
Police say he purchased the Glock pistol used in the attack at Sportsman’s Warehouse in Tucson in November. Authorities believe he acted alone: After questioning a cab driver who drove Loughner to the grocery store, they cleared the driver of any involvement.
Prosecutors charged Loughner with one count of attempted assassination of a member of Congress, two counts of killing an employee of the federal government and two counts of attempting to killing a federal employee. More charges are expected.
Loughner did not have an attorney yet. He is expected to appear in court Monday.
The federal public defender’s office in Arizona is seeking an outside attorney to avoid the appearance of conflicts of interest that might arise and plans to ask that San Diego attorney Judy Clarke be appointed to represent Loughner.
Clarke, a former federal public defender in San Diego and Spokane, Wash., served on teams that defended Oklahoma City bombing conspirator Timothy McVeigh, “Unabomber” Ted Kaczynski and Susan Smith, a South Carolina woman who drowned her two sons in 1994.
People, meanwhile, crammed the synagogue where Giffords was a member, as well as at the Mountain Avenue Church of Christ, which lost one member in the attack and saw another one wounded.
“I don’t know how to grieve. This morning I don’t have the magic pill, I don’t have the Scripture… I can’t wrap my head around this,” said the church’s Rev. Mike Nowak, his strong preacher’s voice wavering.
Nowak said he received hundreds of e-mails from people sharing their prayers with the congregation.
Outside the hospital, candles flickered and people laid down bouquets of flowers, American flags and pictures of the personable politician they affectionately called “Gabby.”
Giffords colleagues, shocked at the violence, vowed not to let it deter them from meeting publicly, face to face, with their constituents. Some, however, acknowledged they were reviewing their security measures.
“I am very concerned about my safety and the safety of other members of Congress,” said Rep. Bobby Rush, a Chicago Democrat. “I’ve informed those who are in my midst that they should be much more vigilant.”
Rush said the climate is dangerous for political leaders, particularly for those who have supported President Barack Obama and his policies. He said he doesn’t plan to scale back any public appearances.
“We need to realize that every face in the crowd is not a friendly face,” he said.
Rep. Bill Huizenga, R-Mich., said he will proceed with public meetings. “I’m not going to let some lone gunman handcuff democracy,” he said, adding he will take reasonable precautions.
Giffords, a conservative Democrat re-elected in November, faced threats and heckling over her support for immigration reform and the health care overhaul. Her office was vandalized the day the House approved the landmark health care measure.
It is not clear whether those issues motivated the shooter to fire on the crowd gathered to meet Giffords.
In a YouTube video, which featured text against a dark background, Loughner described inventing a new U.S. currency and complained about the illiteracy rate among people living in Giffords’ congressional district in Arizona.
The six killed included a federal judge, John Roll; an aide to Giffords and 9-year-old Christina Taylor Green, who was born on Sept. 11, 2001 and was featured in a book called “Faces of Hope” that chronicled one baby from each state born on the day terrorists killed nearly 3,000 people.
The author, Christine Naman said: “Tragedy seems to have happened again.”
Green was recently elected as a student council member and went to the morning’s event because of her interest in government.
Fourteen others were injured, including the three-term Democrat lawmaker. Authorities said the dead included Roll; Green; Giffords aide Gabe Zimmerman, 30; Dorothy Morris, 76; Dorwin Stoddard, 76; and Phyllis Schneck, 79.

Well I, certainly know of what I speak. I worked in the entertainment industry for 25 years without “doing” any kind of drugs – although they were constantly offered to me. The Family business was destroyed by my ex-husband, by drug abuse – after 25 years of a very successful business. I am a Conservative, and “did” pot once in my life. To any fool that thinks that Palin contributed to anyone’s death needs professional help. Glenn Beck (like a prophet that studies history) fore told that someone like this would kill a high profile government person. Then the media would immediately try to use it to try and destroy their enemies. Fox News and talk radio has exposed other media for what it is, ideologically driven propaganda. I think I will pop some corn and get real comfortable for today’s Glenn Beck program. It should be filled with past video clips of “I told you so” and a fire breathing defense of logic and truth. Posted on January 10, 2011 at 12:01amIt’s a tragic event to be sure, and certainly the needless loss of life by a deranged individual will be fodder for all the pundits who will exploit this for political gain. But to anyone who thinks that the forces behind the POTUS are not feverishly trying to destroy America are sadly mis-informed and lack the basic understanding of world history. To Marxists and Communists the loss of life and liberties is part and parcel of the re-building process. I would go so far as to say that the POTUS is merely a stooge being used by Soros and his minions, as well as the Chicoms. It will get a lot worse before it gets any better. Fortunately there are people like these citizens that had courage enough to limit the damage this individual might have inflicted. Dostoevsky‘s ’Crime and Punishment’ comes to mind. 3. If he did enlist (turns out he didn’t but there were rumors that he was at one time, in the Military) he did so to get “free” education and assumed he didn’t have to actually WORK for it.
4. That he has a long history of extremist liberalism and mental disease (same thing.)
5. He’s gay or closeted gay.

News is pouring in on the shooter, this guy is turning out to a paranoid schizophrenic. According to his posts the reason for his shooting spree was the government refusing to return to the gold standard. Posted on January 10, 2011 at 3:16amI don’t think libs understand what a real conservative is. If you are doing drugs, you immediately cease to be a conservative. Conservatism is a way of life, not just an ideological belief system. A conservative has never murdered another human being. The very second a conservative made a conscience decision to murder someone and made any material act to do so, that person ceases to be a conservative. Being a conservative is not easy and completely unattainable for a liberal minded person. They think a soldier defending his country IS a murderer and they can never understand the difference. You have to have a courageous, patriotic, personality that believes that their is a higher power than yourself. Your naturally driven to a moral lifestyle and put God, family, country and service to others higher than anything else. We are quick to defend the weak and pray for justice to visit those that so badly need it. Conservative Patriots drove out King George’s armies, they have shed their blood to stop communism, national socialism (the Nazis) and now the Jihad terrorists. I have spent decades serving my country and fellow man and I have yet to meet one liberal in any service that was not trying to fabricate a way to get out of the service. That is just the way it is. All of the Liberal anger is just overwhelming shame burning in a hole in your soul that you can never fill no matter what you do, say or achieve.

It is because this nobody wanted to be a somebody and when school rejected him, when girls rejected him, when the military rejected him, he lashed out. He blamed the government, he latched onto the communist manifesto, he posted yammerings to make people think that he was smart. He couldn’t face the fact that he was a loser and a failure. He wanted to be somebody and he is a nobody. In his perverted mind, someone else had to pay for him being a failure. If he couldn’t build something up to be a somebody, he would tear it down. I‘m sure she’s all right now though. At least she was a bundle of joy to someone on an otherwise dark day. A very special little girl in the eyes of the Almighty.
If such a precious child can come into this world and bring someone light on such a dark day and accomplish so much in just 9 years, anything is possible. We’re going to get through all of this and be better people for it.

IF ANY representatives in D.C. had ANY BACKBONE they would be saying something like this “We need to encourage more law abiding citizens to arm themselves to defend all against madmen like this!” Think about it, if law abiding Americans were allowed to exercise their rights to keep and bear arms even on airliners (with proper low velocity ammo of course) wouldn’t that solve the “problem” we are sacrificing our rights to overcome? Just IGNORE it. Especially the idiots in here like Whiteteaparty for starters. Just don’t play. The Dem’s proposed retaliatory legislation will go nowhere and the lib media networks will soon blow themselves out on this just like they do every other time a liberal nut goes off the deep end and shoots someone or flies an airplane into something and they howl and scream that it is the tea party…Just do not play folks. Take a few minutes and pray for Gabby and her family. America sees through this garbage and the left are only harming themselves with these accusations. Some people are just born to be stupid and try and make trouble. That is all it really amounts to in the end, people who just want to upset the apple cart…any apple cart. We the people need to step up and help our freinds and family who may be having hard time right now.. All it takes it to ask (and really mean it) if they are in a good place? ESPECIALLY anyone you know who seem to be in a different mood these days. One days is not a concern but if it persists then there is something brewing..
We can't walk around with our heads in the clouds anymore. We need to be wake and helping our fellow man, especially since there are people like Van Jones who are telling venerable people like this, "that blood must run in the streets".. Posted on January 10, 2011 at 8:40amThere was a time before the ACLU when families with seriously mentally ill children could petition to have their children committed to a sanitarium or mental institution. Of course now with the government running mental institutions and courts that are so political, no one would trust the court judgements or institutions anymore. Even before the ACLU, some crazies were able to roam around and assinate officials. Nowadays, we give a free pass to mentally ill people to live on the streets as homeless or involve themselves with crime and drugs. These people mostly cannot care for themselves or have criminal tendencies but refuse mental treatment. Three percent or more of the population have major mental disorders. Only a fraction of those take their medications for their mental disorder. It is one hell of a mess for the families involved and anyone close to them.
Now we have cheap politicians that take cheap shots every time one of these crazies go off and hurt hurt or kill someone. These cheap politicians blame guns or conservatives. The cheap shots serve no one except the politicians. This is their way of dodging the actual problem and with a media that is no better trying to get ratings by sensationalizing the situation.
My sincere best wishes go to Rep. Giffords and her family and to all those that were hurt or killed by this schizophrenic psycopath. Much appreciation must go to those that finally stopped this horrible event.

Posted on January 10, 2011 at 9:09amTop US Federal Judge Assassinated After Threat To Obama Agenda
A Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) report circulating in the Kremlin today states that the top US Federal Judge for the State of Arizona was assassinated barely 72-hours after he made a critical ruling against the Obama administrations plan to begin the confiscation of their citizen’s private retirement and banking accounts in order to stave off their nations imminent economic collapse, and after having the US Marshals protecting him removed.
According to this SVR report, Federal Judge John McCarthy Roll [photo 2nd left] was the Chief Judge for the United States District Court for the District of Arizona who this past Friday issued what is called a “preliminary ruling” in a case titled “United States of America v. $333,520.00 in United States Currency et al” [Case Number: 4:2010cv00703 Filed: November 30, 2010] wherein he stated he was preparing to rule against Obama’s power to seize American citizens money without clear and convincing evidence of a crime being committed.
The case being ruled on by Judge Roll, this report continues, was about bulk cash smuggling into or out of the United States that the Obama administration claimed was their right to seize under what are called Presidential Executive Orders, instead of using existing laws. The Obama administration used as support for their claim before Judge Roll, the SVR says, the seizing of all American citizens’ gold, in 1933, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s signing of Executive Order 6102, which was ruled at the time to be constitutional.
Should the Obama administration win their argument to seize their citizen’s money by Executive Order without having to abide by the law was made more chilling this past week when reports emerged from the US stating that President Obama and his regime allies were, indeed, preparing to rule America by decree since their loss this past November of their control over the US House of Representatives, and in the words of the Washington Posts columnist Charles Krauthammer: “For an Obama bureaucrat … the will of the Congress is a mere speed bump.”
Since taking office in early 2009, Obama has completely overturned the once free United States through his use of Executive Orders that asserts his power to put anyone he wants in prison without charges or trial forever and his right to assassinate any American citizen he deems a threat.
The most chilling of these powers Obama has asserted for himself, however, are contained in Executive Order 13528 he signed nearly a year ago (January 10, 2010) creating a Council of Governors he has hand-picked to rule over the United States in place of its elected representatives when their next “disaster” strikes and orders them to begin “synchronization and integration of State and Federal military activities in the United States; and other matters of mutual interest pertaining to National Guard, homeland defense, and civil support activities.”

Apparently even tragic events that takes the lives of their allies only spur them on to greater spin. Take for example the Paul Welstone (sp?) memorial a few years back. His “close friend”, Senator Tom Harken, turned the memorial into a harsh partisan political rally causing Welstone’s long time Republican peers, who came to show their respect, to leave out of disgust.
