‘My Tongue is in My Cheek and I Approve This Message’: Congressional Candidate Spoofs Perry Ad

GOP presidential contender Rick Perry’s campaign ad “Strong” has prompted a slew of parodies since its debut earlier this month, but one spoof perhaps has a little more at stake than most: It’s part of an Ohio congressional campaign.
Angela Zimmann, a Democrat, donned a cowboy hat and thick jacket similar to Perry’s and gave her take on the infamous ad, which generated controversy for the Texas governor‘s references to gays in the military and President Barack Obama’s “war on religion.” Zimmann is running to unseat Republican Rep. Bob Latta:

I‘m not ashamed to admit that I’m a pastor, but you don‘t need to be in the pulpit every Sunday to know that there’s something wrong in this country when a special interest lackey like Bob Latta can serve openly in the House of Representatives but our kids can’t afford to celebrate Christmas or afford to get a decent education.
As your new Congresswoman, I‘ll end Latta’s war on the middle class and fight to make Washington work for us for a change. Good jobs and fair wages helped to make America strong, and can make her stronger in the future.
I’m Angela Zimmann. My tongue is in my cheek and I approve this message.
