Mysteriously Reclusive Heiress Dies at 104, Leaves Her Nurse $33.6 Million

Mysteriously Reclusive Heiress Dies at 104, Leaves Her Nurse $33.6 MillionThe reclusive millionaire Huguette Clark spent 70 years holed up in her New York mansion, exiting her building only to attend medical appointments. Last month, the 104-year-old mining heiress passed away, leaving a massive fortune behind.

While many people choose to share their wealth with close relatives, Clark had different plans. Reports claim that she left her goddaughter $14 million, then split the rest of her massive fortune between the creation of an arts foundation and her nurse, Hadassah Peri. In sum, Peri is set to receive $33.6 million.

Mail Online has more:

The staggering award is on top of the $2 million given to Mrs Peri to buy four properties including a $700,000 family home in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, and a $500,000 holiday home on an exclusive Jersey Shore estate.

She also used the money to secure two apartments in an up scale Manhattan apartment complex for her children to use when they were at college in the city.

Mrs Peri will also take ownership of Mrs Clark’s huge antique doll collection, which is potentially worth millions of dollars.

Clark’s story is intriguing. Her father, William A. Clark, was a one-time senator and a “mining tycoon,” who left his daughter $300 million ($3.6 billion in today’s money). In 1930, she mysteriously disappeared from public view.

Peri has publicly expressed gratitude over the astounding sum of money (and real estate) she was left with. About $275 million of the woman’s fortune — the largest portion — will be designated toward the creation of the Bellosguardo Art Foundation.

It is safe to say that if Ms. Peri isnt a fiscal conservative she soon will be. She will end up giving 100 million to the government to support those freeloaders (aka Obama voters).

She left the bulk to a ‘foundation’ which will no doubt be run by hard-core Leftists who will funnel the money into all kinds of Socialist/Environmentalist/Marxist/anti-American horrors.

With that kind of money it can be very difficult to find people who sincerely care about you and that you can trust.

Huguette Clark, having that kind of money might make someone want to be a recluse.

This happens more frequently than you know….I know a nurse in San Diego that was left a Condo over on Coronado. Sometimes we receive our rewards on earth, sometimes later.

Seriously, she sounded like a lonely, but i suppose, content individual. Mayshe she had agoraphobia or autism…

Sounds like she was very lonely. I don’t care about who she left the money to… why was she so disenchanted with life?

The article mentioned her FAMILY. That tells me she was loved by them and took care of them because she knew the meaning of FAMILY. She figured out the most important part of life back in 1930. It’s all gone now. Obama will see to that.

Good for her! I hope the nurse was good and deserves the money. By how old she was I would think she did.

Wait….what? If 300 million in 1930 translates to 3.6 billion today, how does 275 million make of “the largest portion” of the estate. What about interest for the past 70 years?

That’s a good question. How come her fortune didn’t get any bigger since she first received it from her father? She could have been ripped off, or given lots of money away over these many years.

I would say that at 104 she knew who she wanted to leave her money to. Sounds like the nurse must have taken good care of her for over two decades. That is a “ripe old age”.

Indeed it is; to see so much history during your lifetime and build such a fortune, and then in the end leave it to who you chose to – and not to the government or someone who would waste it on giving it to their dogs or such.

      Incredible.

This is her choice, no one should ever have power to change this. More power to her. Now also, why should she have to pay taxes on this money, since it was taxes early on when she first earned it.

THE GOVERNMENT IS OVERREACHING TO ALLOW ANYONE TO DOUBLE TAX US.

The government would rather go after taking more of our money than fixing the problem of over-spending. Then when things go bad the Dems blame the republicans for not being serious about fixing the deficit. Don’t believe me that they would do this, here is Rep. Clyburn saying just that: http://tiny.cc/n16ju. The truth is, where has Obama been during this debate: http://tiny.cc/ojplm

It was her money and she had the right to do what she wanted to do with it. I‘m glad she left it to a person and didn’t leave it to her cat or dog. No, I don’t have anything against cats or dogs but do have a preference for humans as far as being heirs are concerned.

Dang, it would suck to be 104… I’m 20, and I don‘t even want to deal with all the strife anymore xD I can only imagine how I’ll feel about life by the time I’m 50, let alone 100…

Side note: Over the years, I’ve read bits & pieces about Huguette Clark but never ran across anything regarding WHY she chose to disappear. Intriguing.

CatB, that is a “catty” statement. Just because a woman does not have makeup poured all over her and is dressed half naked, people today have a warped view of what beauty is in the first place. She is actually very stylish for when that picture was taken. To say she resembles John Belushi is “STUPID”.
I would love to view her antique doll collection. It is her money and she can do with it as she wishes.
