‘Mythbuster’ Barack Obama Makes Discovery Channel Debut

In case you missed it, the President of the United States made a cameo appearance on Mythbusters Wednesday night, a cable entertainment show focused on debunking popular myths using scientific methods.

For Wednesday’s primetime episode, President Barack Obama challenged hosts Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage to reconstruct “Archimedes Solar Ray” — a mythical ancient “green” weapon that utilized solar power to set things on fire.

    Obama-related myths they could test:
    Is Obama really black;
    Can he actually walk on water;
    Does he actually know how to “focus like a laser” means?;
    Can Michelle beat him in a fight;

Irresponsible, out of touch, gimme,gimme,gimme, I‘m gonna pout and throw a fit if I don’t get it, give me the checkbook along with KEYS TO THE CAR attitude! Ditto, which adviser sold him on the idea of solar energy being able to protect the Romans from

      Posted on December 10, 2010 at 10:24am

      Whose adviser? Archimedes’s or Archimedes himself? He was no snake oil salesman but a quite successful inventor. He was also Greek, and the mirrors were to be used to attack a Roman invasion not protect it. Neither his attack plan nor the show was about using green energy. Obama never even said the word “green” during the episode. So it wasn’t about worshiping the sun, and if it were then the MythBusters’ recommendation would be to not do that since the myth was busted.

      The show is about science not ideology. Obama’s short appearance and statement was about the importance of getting kids interested in science. I suggest watching it. Do you really disagree with Obama when he says “nothing is more important to our country’s future than getting young people engaged in math and science.”

      How about the myth that his COLB is legitimate and has a raised seal, according to Hawaiian law?

      (It isn‘t and it doesn’t… it has an incised seal…)

      By the way, did even a single member of Congress support and defend section 3 of the 20th Amendment and inspect physical hard copy documents to ensure that Obama and Biden qualify to hold the offices they presently occupy?

      No, they didn’t.

      And did they question and debate whether or not Obama, even if his “birth narrative” is 100% true, can be considered a “natural born citizen” of the United States even though he admits that he was born a British subject?

      No, they didn’t. Even though they did debate whether or not John McCain could be considered a “natural born citizen” of the United States even though he was born in Panama.

      It is a myth that Soetoro/Obama is eligilbe to hold the office of President of the United States.

      If his “birth narrative” is 100% true, then he was born a British Subject and not a “natural born citizen” of the United States.

      And if his “birth narrative” is not 100% true, then he is guilty of a host of high crimes and misdemeanors including forgery, perjury, obstruction of justice, etc., and therefore not eligible to continue serving as President.

      rouge, Truth Energizes America
      Didn’t they already do that one, being modestly successful… not that I am all that much of a fan. Don’t think I have watched them for a year or more. I think if they would take on the myths of Progressiveism along with the myths of this presidency, they would become wildly popular overnight, with most of us. Oh… but wait… some guy already busts those modern myths 5 days a week.

      Yes, I clearly remember they tried to set a ship on fire with mirrors. Solar power is nothing new. One ancient said something like, ‘we need to build our houses oriented towards the south, with big windows to let the sun in.’ That was Socrates, paraphrased. Solar is ancient, which only goes to show how difficult it has been proven to harness, effectively. Maybe that is why this administration has hooked so securely to that star. An ever elusive hope, which will never materialize.

      The only way solar, or any alternative energy, will truly prove to be practical is decentralized, small scale on private property, enabling the user to be more independent, more free. I am sure this Administration will not let something like that happen. Creating myths, like Global Warming, a green economy and a WikiLeak scare is however, right on track with our current, over energized, DC hotheads that surely spend too much, leaking everything all over nothing.

      This is just silly. Just because he is a terrible socialist fool of a president doesn‘t mean I’m going to stop watching the show. It’s fun, it’s (sometimes) educational, and they blow things up. What more do you want? Even if you assume that he’s a terrible president, what did you want them to do? Spit in his eye? They are showmen and businessmen, and they actually do work to have an entertaining and educational program. No reason to refuse the office even if you hate it’s current resident. Furthermore, he actually seems to have done something good for once. America IS falling behind in the sciences. This is a fact. Our children are doing terribly in math, and more and more research is moving over seas. Isn’t it a good thing to encourage kids to learn about science? Even if it is just to blow things up? Sure, our schools may be failing because of the DoE, and the Teachers’ Unions, and I‘m far from apologizing for the president’s constant and shameless self-promotion, but even a stopped watch is right twice a day, and like it or not, this was actually a good thing. Or at least it was close. I’ll continue to watch the show, late at night when I‘m bored and can’t sleep. I will continue to be a constant and vocal critic when the president is doing something wrong (98%) of the time, but on the rare occasion when he gets one right (or at least he appears to have done something with a more positive than negative result), I’m not going to throw a fit out of spite. That’s childish. And in my opinion, if there is any consistent fault of the president, it’s acting childish. Try to be the bigger man when the opportunity presents itself.
