N.C. Mom Behind Blaze Exclusive on Daughter‘s Lunch Says School Hasn’t Personally Apologized

Last week The Blaze reported exclusively on a second North Carolina mother who said her 4-year-old daughter’s homemade lunch was replaced with cafeteria food after it was determined to be lacking certain nutritional requirements.

Diane Zambrano came forward after state and school officials said there was a misunderstanding when another preschooler was told the same thing. After Zambrano told her story to The Blaze, Fox News reached out to us to get in contact with Zambrano and interview her on the air.

She appeared on “Fox & Friends” Wednesday morning to share her story on camera:

The lunch Zambrano packed for her daughter Jazlyn contained a cheese and salami sandwich on a wheat bun with apple juice. The lunch she got in the cafeteria was chicken nuggets, a sweet potato, bread and milk.

During the interview, Zambrano recounted how her daughter gave her a note from the principal about the specific food groups homemade lunches must contain. The note said though “we welcome students to bring lunches from home … it must be a nutritious, balanced meal with the above requirements. Students, who do not bring a healthy lunch, will be offered the missing portions which may result in a fee from the cafeteria.”

What upset her most, Zambrano told Fox, was “the fact that they took upon themselves to make the decision for me as a parent.”

“We believe that we‘re in a country that we’re allowed to do decisions for ourselves and the fact that they take it away from us, what are they going to take away next?” she said.

Officials at the Hoke County Schools Superintendent‘s Office initially told The Blaze they had no information about what happened with Jazlyn’s lunch, and reached again said they had “no information at this time.” In a statement to Fox News, the district said “Hoke County Schools has taken appropriate action to safeguard against any repetition of these situations in the future.”

Zambrano told Fox she has not received a personal apology and the school‘s statement was the first response from them she’s heard regarding the situation.

    An apology?
The US Dept of education, formed unconstitutionally in ‘79, is not only a disgrace but remains to be the highest tax we pay.
Cafeteria ‘enforcers’ have their grubby little hands in your childrens lunch bag and teachers have their grubby little hands in you childs underwear at the same time.
Students nationwide are ‘graduating’ high school with the equivalent of an eight grade education.
And the Dept of education has officially morphed into a babysitting service for lazy parents.
We must adopt states rights and dismantle this ugly monster now.
    Wake up dummies.

And in the end, the child had to go home hungry because a little bit of sweet potato and a bite of Frankingchickein did not filled her tummy.

What irks me is he was listing what she had and saying that she seemed to have met the guideline. GUIDELINE!!! The government has no right setting a guideline of how we feed our children. This is government control at it’s best and they talked about a “guideline”. That makes me mad!!! If I want to send my child to school with a peanut butter and fluff sandwich, chips, cookies and soda, that is my choice!

I couldn’t agree more with the mother. The school belittled her, not only by sending her information about nurtitious meals (which I’m sure she knows), but making it clear they know what her daughter needs more than her. Because processed chicken nuggets and milk is so much better than a good wholesome sandwich. The schools belittle parents all the time, and want to think they are the ones raising kids-when in reality, there are lots of good parents out there who are more than able to raise their children correctly, and do not need the school system to tell them how to pack a lunch or dictate how to raise their children.

Control and money. More kids they force school lunches on, more money they receive.
Has anyone heard about home-schooled families coming under the microscope?

One more incident to tuck away in my reasons I’ll never send my kids to public school file. It’s been a while since I was in elementary school, but I recall clearly when a teacher practically force-fed me food I had no interest in. Then took away the pudding cup my mom had sent with me for dessert. This mentally has been around for a while and it’s widespread. It’s time parents take back control of their children. I’m an advocate of home schooling, but realize that might not be an option for everyone. The next best option is private school. If that’s still not an option, get tough with the public schools your kids attend. Don’t take their crap. Raise hell. Make them wish they’d never met you. You owe it to your kids.

We must keep in mind that educators surely know what is best for our children. Just Ask Debbie “the Zombie” Squires up in Michigan. She will tell you.

When in fact there are scores of children who live in broken homes, in projects and other situations that parent don’t give a rip what they do, as long as they can use them for public assistance. And as long as there is a certain percentage of these “families’ exists, all the rest of us will fall in that category. Same principal with the Demoncrats about poor people and middle class people If there are poor people we can’t have middle class or rich people, we have to have policies that make everyone poor.

““we welcome students to bring lunches from home … it must be a nutritious, balanced meal with the above requirements”

By what authority does the school have to tell a parent that lunches brought from home “must” comply with their requirements? Who died and made them dictator?

The fact that some brain dead school administrator would have the unmitigated gall to even attempt this gives me the chills.. The fact that it’s been going on, intentionally, for some time and we’re just now hearing about it nationally, frightens me as much as anything going on right now in our socio-political environment.. Until this story broke, I would have, laughed to scorn, anyone that even proposed that such behavior by the government was being done.. Unbelievable, and irrefutable evidence that our government is completely out of control, and that those that represent the education system in this country are among the most ignorant and deluded segment of the population.. It also indicates the cowardice involved.. They’re doing this to our children!! It absolutely has to stop..

As a kid in public schools during the mid 80′s, the insanity was just starting, I know one teacher who made her class march to the cafeteria with their arms folded and their heads bowed, eyes to the floor; “she” liked they way it “looked”, these kids were not kindergarten age, they were grades 4-6 and you could tell they hated it. Of course it made them targets for all the other kids in the school as a result.

if she does, please send me his name because I have been looking for over 3 yrs and cannot find an attorney in the state to touch it. Why ?? because a lawsuit goes like this ,,,,,,,the school, the school board, the county, the state, then usa.

so when you file a suit against a govt org, its not just the school. Mine is 3 counts of child endangerment and medical neglect. My son broke his foot in school and they held him in school with his foot broke in 4 place for 7 hr and 45 minutes before he arrived at the ER of the hospital that I had been at ALL F-ING DAY and the school knew I was there for a same day surgery of my youngest son. Oh and lets not forget, they did not even bother to take his boot off for swelling in that 7 hr and 45 minutes.

This is not anything new to me with NC schools. Had 3 of them in their schools. When my son’s doctor put my youngest on a soft diet due to stomach issues, the school had my son call me about what I sent with him to school for lunch, it wasnt what they considered to be “nutritious” in the eyes of the teacher. I proceeded to go up to the school to meet with the teacher and informed her if she got involved in any way concerning the matter, I would have her azz in court for practicing medicine without a license. Problem solved. I fed my child what I knew he would eat and was not going to force feed him or starve him based on what they thought he should eat.

where I agree with you, here is the issue, NO ATTORNEY in her county is going to touch it based on the fact of them having to practice law in that county. Her best bet would be to go to another major city and /or over to the next county to get an attorney. She could file a complaint with the USDOE, but the thing about that is, I have a case with them for over 3+ yrs for at least 3 counts of child endangerment and medical neglect. This is also with the senator doing congressional inquiries about the matter.
