A New Jersey state senate candidate is now apologizing for a crude message that appeared on his Twitter feed in September, after defending the sex advice when the tweet first came to light.
In a Sept. 2 post, Republican Phil Mitsch wrote: “Women, you increase your odds of keeping your men by being faithful, a lady in the living room and a whore in the bedroom.” In a second post, he wrote: “Men, you increase the odds of keeping your women by being faithful, a gentlemen in the living room and a stud in the bedroom.”
“I would like to sincerely apologize for any offense I may have caused anyone, particularly women, as a result of a Twitter post that has recently been reported,” Mitsch said in a statement Thursday evening.
Mitsch is running against incumbent State Sen. James Beach, a Democrat, in New Jersey’s Camden County. Democrats outnumber Republicans by a 2-1 margin among registered voters, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Mitsch went on to explain the origin of the offending message, one of more than 68,000 posts that went to more than 44,000 Twitter followers.
“The specific tweet in question is an age-old saw most notably quoted by Jerry Hall, Mick Jagger’s ex-wife, in the early 1990′s: ‘My mother said in order to keep a man, you must be a maid in the living room, a cook in the kitchen, and a whore in the bedroom,’” Mitsch said. “I updated her quote with the fact that men should ‘be faithful, a gentleman in the living room and a stud in the bedroom,’ but looking back, I didn’t update the original terminology enough to reflect 21st century sensibilities.”
Just hours before he gave his apology, Mitsch told the Inquirer he was not backing down.
“I am definitely not apologizing for those two tweets at all,” he said. “They were relationship tips. ‘Stud in the bedroom’ and ‘whore in the bedroom,’ those are timeworn adages.”
Mitsch also staunchly defended the messages to the newspaper a day earlier, saying: “That’s a great tip….That shows the utmost respect for women….What I was trying to say to men was, ‘Men, look, if you got to go out and play around and you can’t be honest with a woman and respect her, then you’re better off just doing pay, play, and get the ‘f’ away.’”
The tweet drew outrage from both New Jersey Democrats and Republicans, with Democrats calling on Mitsch to drop out of the race and the local GOP chairman threatening to pull support for his candidacy.
After reading the apology, a New Jersey state GOP spokesman told the Inquirer “our position will not change.”
Mitsch said he doesn’t care if the Twitter messages hinder his chances of winning the Nov. 8 election.
“How the voter interprets my response to [the tweets], I don’t care. I don’t care if I get elected or not,” Mitsch said. “People came after me to run. It would be a tragedy to be denied…over stupid tweets that are misinterpreted.”

We need to replace all those we can’t trust and replace them. If those we replace with aren’t real replace them. Then get behind those that keep their promises.

Posted on October 21, 2011 at 3:03pmIt’s a ridiculous thing to say that aspect of a relationship does not matter.
I’d be a LOT happier in my relationship if my lady were more of a whore in the bedroom. And I’d be inclined to be a lot more studly in that regard, were she more willing to go that extra mile with me. We’d both be happier, by far, if she hadn’t taken to heart advice like yours. Puts me on the prowl, is all.

Report Post »I remember Jerry Hall saying it. I also remember when the big Clinton/Lewinsky scandal came out, one of my female coworkers saying “Hillary should have been doing her ”homework” When I asked her what she meant, she said “If you want to keep your man at home, do your homework” In other words, don’t give him a reason to stray. Same goes for men too.

Posted on October 21, 2011 at 12:35pm“Women, you increase your odds of keeping your men by being faithful, a lady in the living room and a whore in the bedroom” …or Women, you increase your odds of loosing your men even if you are faithful and a lady in the living room if you are cold in the bedroom….statistically a proven fact on both statements about men and women which the man made. The whore thing was crude when used by a Republican, and laughed at when used by a Demarcate.

Posted on October 21, 2011 at 12:59pmIt’s crude used by anyone. Somehow the idea of a woman selling her body for money and ridden more than the town bicycle being the best partner for a wife seems… very objectionable.
The phrase I always heard was “a lamb and a tiger.”

Posted on October 21, 2011 at 1:18pmLocked regardless of the word you use, the connotation is still the same. People just like to get bent out of shape over a word like Whore and Hitler when used in a sentence, especially if it comes from a Republican. Democrats say it and think nothing of it. The double standard stops now and stops here. He should not have apologized.

No, the point is that democrats tend to be hypocrites and only pretend to get offended if it was a republican doing it. More than that, a republican can say something totally innocent and the idiot democrat with twist the meaning until it finally becomes offensive, or perhaps a racial “code-word” or some other sort of BS.

You liberals would rather see what, incest, adultry, pedophlia, rape and the ever popular homosexual sex ?
