NAACP Requires Two Forms of ID From Media to See Eric Holder Say Voter ID Laws Are Racist

NAACP National Conference Requires Two Forms of ID From Media to See Eric Holder Speak

(AP Photo/The The Hutchinson News, Travis Morisse)

Attorney General Eric Holder addressed the NAACP National Convention in Houston earlier today where he blasted the state of Texas for pursuing voter ID laws, saying they discriminate against minorities and even called requiring a valid ID to vote a “poll tax.”

(Related: Eric Holder to NAACP: ‘I Will Not Allow the Texas Voter ID Law to Happen‘)

Well, unless there wasn’t a single minority journalist in attendance at the George R. Brown Convention Center on Monday, the NAACP is guilty of racial discrimination, at least according to Holder’s blanket definition of the term.

Townhall’s Katie Pavlich reports the NAACP required all media in attendance to present a “government-issued photo I.D. (such as a driver’s license) as well as valid media credentials.” This is according to a press release reportedly circulated by the group prior to the conference.

Townhall has more details:

Earlier today, Attorney General Eric Holder addressed the NAACP [National] Convention at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. What did media need in order to attend? That’s right, government issued photo identification (and a second form of identification too!), something both Holder and the NAACP stand firmly against when it comes to voting. Holder’s DOJ is currently suing Texas for “discriminatory” voter ID laws. From the press release:

All media must present government-issued photo I.D. (such as a driver’s license) as well as valid media credentials. Members of the media must RSVP to receive press credentials at http://action.naacp.org/page/s/registration. For security purposes, media check-in and equipment set up must be completed by 7:45 a.m. CDT for an 8:00 a.m. CDT security sweep.  Once the security sweep is completed, additional media equipment will NOT be permitted to enter and swept equipment will NOT be permitted to exit.’

To make it even more ironic, NAACP CEO and President Benjamin Jealous addressed the conference on Monday and also railed against voter ID laws, comparing the issue to the civil rights battles of the 1960s. These are “Selma and Montgomery times,” he said, referring to historic Alabama civil rights confrontations.

“We must overwhelm the rising tide of voting suppression with the high tide of registration and mobilization and motivation and protection,” said Jealous.

GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney is expected to speak at the NAACP conference tomorrow.

Rep. Ted Poe (R-Texas) called out Holder for his apparent hypocrisy today while speaking on the House Floor, saying: “Holder is inconsistent. He believes in security and photo IDs for people when he speaks but rejects valid security and IDs for people when they vote.” Watch all of his comments here:

You can watch Holder explain his stance on voter ID laws via NBC below, where he says there is “no proof” of “voter fraud”:

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

And following Holder’s assertion that voter fraud is nonexistent, Townhall was clever enough to include the video of activist James O‘Keefe receiving Holder’s ballot in Washington, D.C., which can be seen here:

They also had to produce valid government identification in order to get in. The hypocrisy is beyond contempt. Citizens need ID for most basic things in life; driving, opening a bank account, attending school, getting a credit card, etc…. How is it racist to expect a citizen to prove that they are indeed a citizen to vote? One fraudulent vote is one too many and really anyone who is with it enough to vote is with it enough to have an ID.

So Holder aquaints a law designed to stop corruption within an election to a racist law designed to supress black votes. Well unless I ‘m mistaken any legal citizen can get an I.D. and register to vote.
And this law would require EVERYONE (not just blacks) to have an I.D. and be registered to vote.
How a law that applies to everyone be racist and affirmative action laws that favor certain races and sexes be considered fair.

I do not see a problem with identifying yourself as an eligible voter in your own precinct. I always wondered why we didn’t have to. Now my state does, and I approve. Goodness knows we have to ID ourselves for everything else.
Doesn’t the NAACP realize how racist they sound when implying that minorities are too stupid to figure out how to get ID? If they can get registered to vote, why can’t they get ID? If they can get Food Stamp, Welfare, etc., why can’t they get ID? If they can’t figure out how to get ID, they maybe they aren‘t capable of making a good voting decision and shouldn’t be voting!

Holder is a servant to Obama (the Antichrist) and the only way Obama can feel comfortable; that he will win reelection, is by paving the way for voter fraud. Obama’s evil administration is probably already making sure that the unions and black churches are getting their fleets ready to bus ignorant, spineless union members and ignorant, black church congregations to the voting polls. Obama (the Antichrist) is a master manipulator and he has the support and loyalties of those that are corrupt and evil and those that have already taken “the number.” If people can’t see that Obama is evil and possibly the Antichrist then let them vote for him and lets get the end days under way and let us pave the way for the second coming of Jesus Christ. Glory be to God and let His will be done.

They want two forms of ID from the media because they are afraid someone will enter who’s not really with the media…..ummmmmm…..So, when casting a VOTE, which is something sacred to American’s, its ok NOT to prove you are who you say you are? Give me a break! They rail against something that THEY are CURRENTLY using themselves. What a crock…..They make me want to throw up and laugh at their stupidness at the same time. “Every knee will bow and every tongue confess”

It’s my right to fly, but I have to provide a government-issued photo ID before I can board the aircraft. It’s my right to drive, but I can’t without a valid, state-issued driver’s license. It’s my right to work in the U.S., but I have to provide proper identification to successfully comply to I-9 requirements. Therefore, we have numerous examples where our rights can only be exercised with proper identification. However, voting is the one right that’s hypocritically and vehemently challenged respective to identification requirements. The reason is simple: it’s politically motivated by the left and engineered to usurp the sovereignty of the United States. It must be stopped. It must be stopped in Texas.

Using Eric Holder’s logic, wouldn’t every single tax increase be considered racist? After all, there are more whites in America than blacks, and therefore more white taxpayers… so, tax increases affect whites the most.
