Yup, you read that right. A naked man opened up fire on a SWAT robot in Brevard County, FL after police sent in the bucket of bolts instead of officers since the suicidal man was threatening to shoot the police. Instead, he took out his rage on the helpless robot. The best part — although there are many — may be the news anchor’s opening line: “Armed, naked, and dangerous.” Yeah, that’s a good intro:
WESH reports:
The suspect’s dog was the only onlooker as the robot approached the door at the West Melbourne home on Del Mar Circle.
Authorities said a man with several guns was suicidal and threatening authorities.”
He said he’d shoot anyone he could,” said Lt. Bruce Barnett with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
Instead of risking any lives, deputies sent the $65,000 robot into the home. The robot has cameras, which record all of its actions.
The video shows the robot searching each room, its electronic eye roving from side to side while officers watch safely from a command post.
As the robot slowly pushed the man’s bedroom door open, the man came out, stark naked, with an AK-47 in hand. The man then started shooting at the robot. The camera goes out at first, and then comes back on.
The robot has been sent back to the manufacturer for repairs.

Posted on April 7, 2011 at 3:58pmSo….the naked guy gets a criminal mischief charge for unloading an AK on a robot? Hell, I had friends who were given more than that for streaking a police station in 1972! The news anchor said we would be looking down the barrel of an AK-47, seems to me it was the actual barrel of the naked man.

They sent in SWAT & risked officers’ lives just as they would without any robot, but with the robot they got to expand their budget and spend some of that property-seizure-and-auction money they get from seizing the homes/cars of weed smokers and their families, and they get to waste people’s tax money. As a bonus, they get free home movies from the robot to entertain themselves at off-duty parties.
