Naked Man Who Tried to Eat Homeless Man’s Face Identified — and are ‘Bath Salts’ to Blame?

Naked Cannibal Who Ate Homeless Mans Face Identified as Rudy Eugene | Bath Salts CitedThe naked man who was reportedly growling like an animal as he tried to eat the face of a homeless this weekend has been identified. And now, as more details emerge, the story becomes even more horrifying.

Though cannibalistic instincts most likely aren’t reflected in physical features, the man looks normal — rather than appearing as a crazed lunatic, the man actually looks like somebody you could bump into at the mall.

Pictured in an old police mugshot, Rudy Eugene had reportedly been arrested 8 times since the age of 16, before he was shot and killed this weekend, and four of the arrests involved marijuana. 

He even had an ex-wife, who said: “I wouldn’t say he had [a] mental problem but he always felt like people was against him type of attitude.”  She said the marriage ended when Eugene became increasingly violent.

“No one was for him, everyone was against him.”

A neighbor said that Eugene’s former home was foreclosed on in 2011, and homeless people living near where the attack took place said he would often wander around the area, looking confused.

And as more details emerge about the attacker, more emerge of the attack.

The cyclist who first spotted the grisly scene recalled: “The guy was, like, tearing him to pieces with his mouth, so I told him, ‘Get off!’…The guy just kept eating the other guy away, like, ripping his skin.”

“When the officer approached him, told him to stop, pointed a gun at him, he turned around and growled like a wild animal and kept eating at the man’s face,” Fraternal Order of Police President Armando Aguilar told WPLG-TV.

Aguilar explained that Eugene was likely under the influence of what’s being called the new LSD — “bath salts.”

“It causes them to go completely insane and become very violent,” and many take off their clothes because it makes them feel hot, Augilar explained.

Here is an explanation of the “bath salts,” from a case where a woman reportedly swung a machete at her mother while under the influence of the drug:

“We have seen, already, three or four cases that are exactly like this where some people have admitted taking LSD and it’s no different than cocaine psychosis,” Aguilar told CBS.

“I took care of a 150 pound individual who you would have thought he was 250 pounds,” a doctor commented. “It took six security officers to restrain the individual.”

In Eugene’s case, even a bullet wouldn’t stop him.

Police shot him once after yelling for him to stop, but Eugene apparently continued trying to eat the other man’s face.  Police shot him multiple times after that, before he collapsed and died.

“Seventy-five to 80 percent of [the homeless man's] face was missing,” Armando Aguilar of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police Aguilar told NBC Miami. “He was actually swallowing pieces of the man’s face.”

Back in March, a naked reveler who may have taken a similar drug attacked a good samaritan and first responders after being hit by a taxi during the Ultra Music Festival.  Fourteen police officers had to be treated for blood exposure and injuries after managing to subdue the man.

“It’s dangerous for the police,” Dr. Paul Adams told CBSMiami. “It’s dangerous for the fire fighters. It’s dangers for the hospital workers taking care of them because they come in, they have to be restrained both chemically and physically and you’re asking for someone to get hurt.”

And now police are warning drug dealers that the liability could fall back on them, in such cases.

“I have a message for whoever is selling it out there,” said Aguilar. “You can be arrested for murder if you are selling [this] to people, unsuspecting people on the street and somebody ends up dying as a result you will be charged with murder.”

“The guy, he was like a zombie, blood dripping, it was intense,” Vega, the witness, explained. “The closest thing I’ve seen to it? ‘The Walking Dead.’”

      Odds are he snorted or smoked the salts rather than eating them. Orally ingesting drugs typically diminishes the speed of the effects and eating them raw can either dull the effect or cause severe abdominal distress.

      The only person that I know that uses bath salts… also known as “plant food” is white. Unfortunately, I know far too much about this drug than I’d like to.

      My good friend’s soon-to-be ex-husband started using them a year or so ago, after he stopped taking pain killers. The guy used to seem like one of the most wonderful husbands in the world… he was always cooking for his wife (and for us, when we came over). He’d babysit my kids, we would come over to their house and play games, and he was a really great guy.

      After he started taking bath salts, when we came to their house, he would start talking to my husband, and would ramble on and on for hours about the same thing. He started thinking that people were stalking him. My friends went to another state to try to get their lives straight, and ended up homeless, mostly because of him.

      I don’t even know where he is now. He’s hitchhiked across the country, ended up in Mexico for a while; last I heard, he was in California. I don‘t even know if he’s alive any more. We tried to help him, we pray for him, but there’s only so much we can do.

      Bath salts are bad, bad stuff.

    This explanation about drugs being the cause is bunk— how about an autopsy report instead of some cops opinion?? And why was the victim naked?? And if they are seeing more of (these) “similar cases”, WHY is the public not made aware???? And why was THIS story not reported on FOX the entire weekend.

      I think you misunderstand– “the police” say they have seen this before? People stripping naked due to drugs, or EATING faces? And where are the statements from the hospital/doctors???
      You “assume” the attacker stripped the victim? And as far as Fox is concerned– I pretty much had the news on all weekend, and never saw it reported….and you know how repetitive their weekend coverage is…. same stories over & over…. all they talked about was a 30 yr. old cold case all day long on Fri & Sat, then moved on to Memorial day stories Sun & Mon.

      As someone who knows someone who is addicted to bath salts… I don’t see this as out of the ordinary for people with this addiction at all… my friend is insane when he’s on that stuff. I wouldn’t be surprised to see my friend involved in a story like this at some point…

    I said it in a post last week about the lady roaming randomly and getting shot in somebody’s house; but that reply was subsequently deleted or lost in the database row. Anyways, this is the evidence of the zombie apocalypse that’s coming.

    As people’s access to drugs like Xanax, Crack, and Heroin are removed folks in withdrawal are going to go crazy. They will do the inexplicable; like eating someone’s face. Perhaps it will occur while you eat your breakfast at ******* Barrel, perhaps at your daughter’s first communion, or perhaps while you wait in line at the post office, but I fear we will all begin to see people starting to snap for seemingly no reason. Most often times the zombies themselves won’t be able to explain their actions after the actual event; just a haze where they felt anger, anxiety, and, interestingly, a desire to be free and a sense of release.

    If you are on any psychotropic drugs, prescribed or illegal, now is the time to seek professional help and ween yourselves off of them. DON’T WAIT. Do it now; it may be hard now, but imagine what it’ll be like when you are forced to do it cold turkey style. Your brain will fry, you will likely try to self medicate (binge) on something you do have the access to (Liquor, Paint Thinner, Turpentine). Your brain will short and you will snap; and before you know it, you will be shot while standing in a house that you had no idea wasn’t your own; or eating someone’s face.

      The guy who died died as the result of his own foolishness. He also was let down by society to include peers, family & the Democrat Party (not an exhaustive list). His ex says that he was not mentally insane. I tend to agree. He is a good looking person with normal genes.

      What killed him were memes (liberal ones) not bad genes.

They’re fatter, lazier,don’t remember entire conversations, never reliable, lose interest in personal hygene, don’t pay attention to their kids, always needed to borrow a few bucks,and don’t hold down jobs, but remain sober enough to advocate for the legalization of marijuana or protest with Occupiers. They tend not to contribute to society.Who the hell wants their boss high enough to forget to sign off on their payroll? Or neglecting your kids to go and buy some weed. Or worse, the kids might get into it and eat it since the food stamps have run out!!! It is not a harmless drug!! We all know drug and alcohol use must have effected our last President, (at least W quit before becoming President) and we DEFINITELY cannot deny that pot effected this current “Choom Gang ”President’s rational abilities. However, unlike W. I don’t this President has given up his pot habit. I can picture the SOB on vacation or right there in the Oval Office blazin’ up with Ma Mooch next to him puffing away. You are correct about State jurisdiction, I agree 100%.       I see what you’re saying, I just haven’t seen it. You seem pretty straight-edged, so I don‘t think you’re just BS’ing me. The RP folks I know aren’t like that, and the only person I know that still smokes weed, is so obviously out of touch on the issues. (He was a Santorum guy) I have heard from a few vets with PTSD that say that weed is the best treatment online, but none claimed drug legalization was the reason for their support. Just offering a different perspective.

      Most of you can’t use critical reasoning skills.Weed doesn’t promote this behavior at all.Nor are most weed smokers naturally inclined to try anything harder.The gateway drug is a myth.Its not the drug nor the use of it.Its the age of the individual that has far more bearing on expermentation with other drugs.Nor can it be reasoned that pot smokers are more or less any lazier, forgetful ,fatter, immature or neglectful than anyone else.Like booze in one respect, it depends on how much you consume, how often and whether you pursue it over your real responsibilities.
      I’d like to know the chemical components of bath salts.How a drug could even remotely do something like this to someone is a little incomprehensible to me.Not without their being a critical underlying problem.Cannibilism only has four major components.Survival in starvation situations.Enemy confrontations.,religious.Victim confrontations[they usually don't lead to true cannibilismAlthough they can lead to victims removing their own body parts.]
      I think it has more to do with age and this drug if anything.In people under thirty the cortex hasn’t reached maturity.This alone may be why those on this drug can’t determine that they are experiencing a temporary drug induced trip.

      Bath salts aren’t anything new: they have been sold along with “herbal potpourri” in smoke shops for years as alternative, synthetic substances that mimic the effects of marijuana. Problem is that they‘re completely unregulated and no one really knows what’s in them or how powerful it is…and that doesn’t even address having no idea what the long-term effects or damage might be (because who wants to get FDA approval on them – it would just bring them to the attention of lawmakers who would then make them illegal, forcing drug makers to find new unregulated varieties).

      But hey, it‘s better than ol’ Mary Jane, right? Much better to have people chewing off faces than chowing down on Cheetos. Solves the homeless problem in a very Jonathan Swift-esque manner.

      Cops and media really know nothing anything about drugs. And usually the average person only knows urban myths about the drug, not the facts. There are a ton of substances that can cause hallucinations, each with unique side effects and chemical structure.

This comes from a natural fungus, not a man made drug to mimic Weed. The point to all of this is people are going to get high. It’s when the government steps in and says no we are going to control what you put in your bodies that stories like this take place. Sad Really.

      I went to the ER several times as a kid (I was a feral child). The one really big thing that kept me away from drugs was that virtually every time I went to the ER there was some dumbass, greasy hippie having a screaming bad trip. I can definately see how drugs could have ‘evolved’ from screaming bad trips to eating people’s faces over the course of a few decades.
