Nancy Pelosi: GOP Calls to Repeal Obamacare ‘Unrealistic’

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Republican calls for repeal of the Affordable Care Act are “unrealistic.”

In an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” slated to air Sunday, Pelosi declared “that part” of the health care debate is “over.”

“They’ll bring it up, and when they bring it up they will ask for repeal, repeal of all the things I said that help children, help young adults, help seniors, help men or women who may have prostate cancer, breast cancer, whatever it is, any precondition,” the California Democrat said. “Everybody will have lower rates, better quality care and better access.  So that’s what they want to repeal, we’re happy to have that debate.”

      I actually think she’s right. People were mad as hell when SS passed, yet it’s still around. Wasn’t it the largest tax increase at that point? Now the party that opposed it then doesn’t want any Republicans to touch it because “they earned it.” So many seem to be relying on, for all practical purposes, the author of this bill to repeal it, despite him saying he’d appoint Justices like Roberts to the high court. They say, “at least he loves America, and won’t try to destroy it”. I say hogwash. All the NWO people want to destroy the Constitution and our economy. So the dems collapse the system with social programs. The latest crop of Republicans are true neocons that will collapse the system with war. Unless you think W‘s foreign advisors won’t recommend war. Remember 17 of 24 of Romneys foreign advisors were W’s. The same ones Pentagon whistle blower, Kwaitkowski said were plotting to go to war with Syria and Iran 4 or 5 years ago. Also the same ones who were in office when the Tea Party was started, btw.       There is more than one way to skin this cat.
      1. Obama set a precedent by providing waivers to unions and to those companies, even large ones like McDonalds, whose employees are most likely to not already be covered. So Romney provides waivers to ALL companies that send a post card saying “we want out” this would not be good for those employees who are covered by their employers but would blow a gaping hole in the Ocare scheme.
      2. Add a provision that illegal aliens will be treated one time and deported immediately following their hospitalization. the two birds with one stone concept. On that thought pass a bill that amends the 14th in some technical way that states that children born in the US to parents without legal entry papers are NOT citizens and never will be unless they later enter the country legally and serve in the military for 4 unblemished years.
      3. All states with Republican governors refuse, as allowed by the court, to sign up additional medicaid recipients. Their senators and congressmen insist that the unspent federal funds apply to the debt. A recent NYT story used Illinois as an example of a state that is currently de facto bankrupt. If states like Illinois and California who are on the ropes take the additional burden of more medicaid, if a few years they will be shouldering more of the burden. Part two of this is that Romney, up front, says “There will be no state bailouts”. This would allow the state to go bankrupt and restructure ALL of their labo

      Labor costs to include public employee unions.
      4. Work with hospitals and healthcare organizations to set up “Medicaid urgent care centers” this would get people with sore throats and minor injuries out of the very expensive operating rooms. These could be staffed by recently graduated mid levels (PAs and nurse practitioners) for some tuition reimbursement.
      5. Tort reform, too many doctors are ordering too many tests to rule out the most obscure diagnosis to avoid being sued. This would go a long way to reducing the most expensive overhead cost for Docs and would through competition lower rates.
      6. Find a mechanism to reduce the amount of money drug companies spend on advertising to lower the cost of drugs, or allow on a huge scale re-importation.
      7. Lastly, design, perhaps through an existing federal health insurance company, a catastrophic, no frills basic policy with high deductible that a person making 10/hour could afford. No BC, no preventive, no prescription, but a policy that if a person is hospitalized prevents the person or our country from going bankrupt to cover.

      @justangry. Like SS it was a good idea badly executed. They should have required the money be put into savings accounts to be used for retirement. We can still do it.
      This Obama care must go. There are far better answers available. How about letting us have our own money back to pay for healthcare premiums? All the tax refunds the poor get should help pay for a policy for them.
      We should be allowed to pull from our own income, tax free, the money to pay for a policy.
      The same with education.

      2. The ACA creates a check on Insurance Companies’ ability to deny coverage for pre-existing Conditions – LOWERS YOUR COST BY ALLOWING MORE COVERAGE FOR SAME PREMIUM. More bang for your buck makes it more AFFORDABLE!
      3. ACA allows your Dependent Children up to Age 26 to be covered under Parents’ Policies at a very low Premium – This makes ALL Family’s Policies more affordable – again more bang for your buck!
      4.The ACA created a check on Big Insurance who was using your Premiums to pay Upper Mgt Bonuses, Advertising, Lobbying etc. – Insurance Companies must now prove that they spend 80$ of YOUR Premium on YOUR Healthcare – or they must pay YOU back.       5. The ACA has mandated State Insurance Exchanges creating competition for plans allowing for Federal subsidies up to $4K for those who can’t afford care. This means it is MORE Affordable for YOU!
      6. The ACA also recognizes, as did RomneyCare, that approx 1% of the population, who can afford Insurance, will try to avoid paying for a policy. These Freeloaders will pay a penalty – like a speeding tax/ticket.No Freeloade

      I hate to say it but in a way the thing is right. The Senate will have to be a super majority in order to overturn. If not a super majority then you will need 51 to do the same deal the Democrats did in order to get Obama care.

      You will never ever get 51 conservative Republicans to overturn.

      Now, you say, BUT, BUT, we will just ‘make’, ‘create’ more ‘doctors’ or ‘providers’. Really? So much for quality. In actual fact, you will toss in 100,000 NP or PA‘s or pseudotrained ’professionals’—and they are quality? Their inability to diagnose will only be uncompromised by their necessity to secure their own inadequacies, and order MORE tests, costing the system even more, producing less.

I have actually read the bill and has nothing to do with reforming healthcare and everything to do with central control. It tried to get rid of hsa and fsa’s. However it survived in a very watered down version.hsa and fsa are the cornerstone of real reform.obama and his army of social engineers don’t want anyone else in charge

    Pelosi never mentions the millions who will be worse off, the ones that have to pay. Every dollar out of their pockts is a dollar less for their retirement, educational needs, etc. How about the number of doctors leaving the profession? It is NOT about the children.     Some tidbits from the ACA Supremes who dissented (Alito, Scalia, Kennedy, Thomas). “By 2019 20 million of the 24 million who will obtain insurance through an exchange are expected to receive an average federal subsidy of $6460.”
    Isn’t it interesting that the same dimocrats that passed this are calling Paul Ryan crazy for proposing that 10 years from now people going on Medicare would recieve vouchers (subsidies) of $7500 to buy insurance.

    “The ACA spends government money on, among other things, THE STUDY OF HOW TO SPEND LESS GOVERNMENT MONEY.” (Emphasis mine)…. from the above dissenters

    I’ll bet the “dingbat doesn’t know thats in the ACA that she wants to have a debate on.

    51% is all that is needed now…. Roberts helped out that much, plus he fired up our base. Moderate dems are going to think twice about keeping the obamacare tax. Conservatives are not wanting the communist program in any form. Voters are not going to keep anyone in office that is going to keep a tax (especially one this big) in place…

    I’m sorry Nancy, but until Obamacare fully goes into affect, I don’t think you can actually claim that the “Affordable Health Care” act will truly help all the people on your list. During a budget crisis, I forsee people who have prostate cancer or breast cancer being told they have to wait for treatment or being denied treatment because it is not cost effective. That is why some people want to repeal Obamacare because they, like myself, worry about situations like this occurring.

    off topic.. the older kids just came in and said a syfy channel movie this evening had obama’s official smiling portrait predominantly in the scenes in the sheriff office shots , as well as to get rid of the monster, they blew the face of Abraham Lincoln off Mt Rushmore. typical hollyweird communist stuff.. trying to subliminally indoctrinate the kids.

    also they report that on a syfy channel show called ‘Eureka’, obama‘s portrait is predominant between the actors and behind the actors’ shoulder in many many scenes also.
    —- thank God our kids know it’s all subliminal communist indoctrination.

      The other day Holder was speaking I think at the DOJ and right behind him was the Official seal. Then right next to is was a Picture of obama. I thought it was kind of strange, it reminded me of people in Iraq, having sadams picture in their living rooms so everyone could worship him. Or like Kim jon ill! I gives me the Creeps! Has anyone else noticed stuff like this? I’m curious to know if others have seen stuff like this?

When you see her use this deception you think “Wowa, whats that all about’, then it’s to late, Before you know it you’re overwhelmed with the stench. She runs around the country terrorizing the citizenry with it and her latest comments are no exception. Her comments not only stink, they’re stupid.     Okay, it played this time. The big thing that jumped right out at me was her saying that rates will be lower! When? When dingbats actually fly? Ever since this thing passed in ‘09 insurance rates have steadily been sky rocketing. Anybody here have their rates go down yet? I figure only if you policy has been cancelled.

    How can they help with prostate cancer when they want to stop doing a psa on men? By the time a man finds out without a psa if he has ca it will be to late. Most men do not want to have a digital exam which most MD‘s don’t push. There will be less qualified Md’s out there to provide care so quality goes down ..the middle class get stuck with several new taxes and people will start dropping like flies.
