House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Thursday her Catholic religion "compels" her to support same-sex marriage.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday she supports same-sex marriage because her Catholic faith “compels” her to “be against discrimination of any kind.”
“My religion has, compels me–and I love it for it–to be against discrimination of any kind in our country, and I consider this a form of discrimination. I think it’s unconstitutional on top of that,” Pelosi said during her weekly Capitol press briefing.
Calling President Barack Obama’s endorsement of same-sex marriage “a great day for America,“ Pelosi said she hopes it will ”bring people together on the issue.”
“It’s a matter of time, it’s all a matter of time,” Pelosi said. “On these issues, what is inevitable to some of us is inconceivable to others. What we want to do is shorten the difference between the inevitable and the inconceivable and I think the president went a long way in doing that yesterday.”

Ratzinger then trained in the German infantry. As the Allied front drew closer to his post in 1945, he deserted back to his family’s home in Traunstein after his unit had ceased to exist, just as American troops established their headquarters in the Ratzinger household. As a German soldier, he was put in a POW camp but was released a few months later at the end of the war in the summer of 1945. He reentered the seminary, along with his brother Georg, in November of that year.

We Latter Day Saints (and many other denominations) believe in the sanctity of marriage.
Though some are unsuccessful at maintaining their marriage, we believe that the family is the most important unit in society.
There is where we learn gender roles, how to get along with others and participate in God’s plan to bring souls to Earth that they may be tested, and gain a body. We also believe it is the best place to be taught the Gospel and learn about Christ.
We do not hate homosexuals, nor do we advocate discrimination. There are, however, rules that Heavenly Father has given us to live our lives by.
We invite all to repent and come unto Christ that we may be forgiven and healed, and eventually return to live with Him.

18 years ago, I had a strange Hunger for the Word of God that came on me – No Church, Preacher or Man could satisfy my hunger! But God, put one, then two, then 4 and 5 more Men and Women of God in front of me. All, were from different walks of life and they were there teaching me, at the moment I need them! You see, no Man taught me the Word of God – God showed me what I needed me to know and I became a Street Fighter for the Lord! I did choose to do this, but after the teaching I received the only place I was welcome was where God was needed most. If you want to see God in action, go where God is need most!
Every question I ever asked of these teachers came back in a scripture – they never taught what they thought the answer was – they showed what God said it was!
I assure you and everyone that God is alive and he is working throughout American like I have never seen before! He is trying to wake his followers up and he wants them to put on the Whole Armor of God!
This is not a time that God wants us to go along to get along – I am never going to love a sinner, and allow him or her to keep on sinning! Because, when I enter Heaven the sinner that I did not help to find God is going to a different place. That’s not Love – that may be making you feel good – but you have accomplished nothing for the Sinner!
Forget about loving the sinner – focus on exposing the sin and let Jesus show him or her his Love!

However, i have found that not everyone is prepared at the same time to receive the Gospel, though they are being prepared.
I don’t convert anyone, the Spirit does.
Someone (a Protestant) once told me that her pastor says : “Preach the Gospel at all times, and if necessary, use words”.
I have 2 main jobs here: Love God with all my heart, and love my neighbor as myself.
We are given the ability to choose between good and evil, and I do not want to infringe on that gift. That is part of the test. If I am contentious, I may drive them away.
Also, I said “We invite all to repent and come unto Christ that we may be forgiven and healed, and eventually return to live with Him.”
Keep up the good fight. The Lord does have an army and it is in need of soldiers – for the battle cometh soon.

Yeah, I’ve heard that line a lot. Thing is, it’s not scriptural. It’s one of those lies that gets preached over and over again from the pulpit, and everyone believes it because it appeals to the flesh. True, it is the Spirit who convinces the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. However, we are entrusted with the gospel (1 Thess. 2:4). How can unbelievers have faith unless they they hear the Word? (Rom. 10:14,17). Jesus used words, and so have his martyrs, to our shame. We can’t sow actions. The only seed we have is God’s Word.
And how exactly can you tell when someone is “prepared” or when they will die? The Word exhorts us to “preach the word: be instant in season and out of season: reprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine.” (2 Tim. 4:2) The reason we remain silent is because we tend to forget or don’t really understand how horrific beyond words hell really is.

Godwin’s Law says invoking Hilter should be done sparingly because overuse degrades the appropriate comparisons. Yes, I would accept that Hitler had discerned his morality. But my morals would then require me to oppose him (non-violently) to my dying breath. Jesus sat down and ate with prostitutes and tax collectors. He had no problem touching lepers. He ministered to the poor and he welcomed the stranger in his midst. Those are good Catholic principles, and they would lead Nancy Pelosi to accept and support the Gay members of her community. Even though the Church opposes homosexuality, they do recognize that homosexuals are God’s creation, too and deserving of all his love.

He switched to being a tent show revivalist selling overheated, half-baked conspiracy theories. I went to the first 9/12 rally, the one where he claimed 750,000 showed up. It was between 50,000 to 70,000. I was also at the 8/28 rally. He claimed 350,000; it was more like 100,000-125,000 people. I also went to the Stewart/Colbert rally. I got four blocks from the stage. It was packed. Of course, as he told it, fewer people showed up, lots fewer.
I’ve never had an abortion, I would never have an abortion. My daughers would not choose one. I don’t believe in the death penalty, either. I am only saying that I am not responsible for the choices that other people make. Laws have never stopped women from having abortions. But outlawing them has cost the lives of countless women. I prefer to see them available, but regulated. We need to leave the choice to have a legal medical procedure to the woman, her partner and the doctor. Jesus stopped people from stoning the woman taken in adultery. He ate with sinners and he preached to sinners. If Jesus would still love a woman who has had an abortion, who are ANY of us to judge them?

It is not the place of the state to determine whether I go to hell or not. It is the place of the state to see that all the children in the public school system get a good education in a safe background. Since many children already realize they are Gay in high school, it is an appropriate place to discuss the existence of homosexuality. And bullying should never be allowed. I spent over ten years in schools, students can be cruel. We need to protect children, and sometimes, we need to protect them from people like you. And no, I don’t believe that you should make being Gay a crime. (We tried that, it doesn’t make it go away.) One of my first lessons in Political Science was from Edmund Burke, “You cannot legislate morality.”

I am not bitter or angry, but I do admit to being very concerned for my country. It deeply disturbs me that people are going down the same path they did in the 1950s. I do not want to see Blacklists and public trials for holding “unpopular” political views. I don’t want to see Liberals locked up or have their careers ruined because they commited the “crime” of being Liberal. The McCarthy era was a sad and dangerous time and it damaged political discourse in this country, to this day.

My personal details are an attempt to get the groupthinkers here to see that Liberals are people, too. Consider it my “Hath not a Jew…” speech. Palatable? And Rose, the most disturbing thing I get from your posts is that you were a teacher of our youth.
That fact is horrifying. From reading your posts, I feel that you would most likely be an “indoctrinator” as opposed to a true educator.
You seem far to militant in your views to be able to present an objective view to young minds.
But that is if all that you tell us is actually true. These type of forums are loaded with folks who claim to be this, or claim to be that. Or they know someone who went through this, and they know someone who works in that dept.
That’s why I said nobody cares about your personal details Rose. People that tend to disclose too much info about themselves on the internet are usually puffing. It’s just an attempt to humanize your persona, to try and lend credence to your faulty arguments. Many on here do it Rose, and you can spot it easily.
Stop trying to defend your “yourself”, and just try to defend your positions.

Years ago, there was a priest who spent time with my brothers & other teenagers & he was a very good influence on them. There was no monkey stuff & most priests are like this, not molesters.
