NASCAR No-No: Gordon Shoves Burton After Tangle on Texas Track

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — An angry Jeff Gordon hit Jeff Burton with a hard two-handed push after Burton sent Gordon’s car crashing into the outside wall during a caution period.

After getting out of his No. 24 car, Gordon walked from the top to the bottom of the track to confront Burton. Gordon shoved Burton, then took some swings before they were separated by two NASCAR safety officials.

The drivers then rode together in ambulance to the infield-care area.

Burton took full responsibility for the accident Sunday and said he had no problem with what Gordon did.

Right before the caution came out for another problem on the track, Burton said Gordon drove under him in Turn 4, where it was difficult to see because of the setting sun.

Burton said he know Gordon was mad and was trying to pull up next to him to acknowledge his mistake. Instead, as Burton came up from behind in Turn 2, their cars hit and crashed.

To all of you who are condemning Gordon, maybe you should all try driving a race car. Then we’ll see just who has the big b-lls. Leave Jeff alone!

Burton missed his chance to be an overnight star. If he punched Gordon instead of shoving back, everyone would know his name and cheering for him next week. Kyle Bush flicking off the official is bigger news than this.

Got fined $25,000 for that gesture. Hope it was worth it.

Did the golden boy get any slap on the wrist or just the brass balls award from NASCAR.

Although it did generate more PR excitement than the entire season. NASCAR has regulated themselves to death. Just like our government is doing. Seems like someone would be smart enough to see the big picture

I miss the good old days when the fights in the pits were the best part of the race. We used to load up the car and if you wanted to park in the infield it was $15.00 a carload. Then the DamnYankees got involved and turned it into a wussy sport. “Don’t fight boys, it affects the Yankee sensibilities and we won’t get $100.00 for the cheap seats”.
Jeff Gordon is part of the wussy new breed and I am amazed he even shoved someone. I am sure NASCAR will relegate him to anger management class.
Give me the good old days when the King , The Intimidator and the Alabama gang raced!

Burton admitted that he made a mistake that he should not have. I have to guess that after a ride like that and during a caution added to being taken out of the race so close to the end of the chase added to the “emotions”. To you NASCAR snobs … get over yourselves .. you have no idea the mechanics and talent it takes from all participants of a team to even get in a chase.

Obama’s just too much of a wussy to probably even drive. Not to mention… it’s hard to drive while reading from a teleprompter…. it’s much worse than driving and texting. So we all have to ask… how many of obama’s teleprompters would it take to change a tire? Because we sure as hell know the Messiah doesn’t drive or change tires. I wonder if he and MO will steal even more crap than the clintons when we kick their sorry asses out of office.

Gordons Teamate Jimmy is surpassing Gordons records and is showing to be a better driver. Gordon has been really erratic this year. Has done some foolish things that he has never done in his career. I think he sees his mark on this sport fading. Most drivers act like this at the starting of their careers when they are still immature.

Never liked Jeff Gordon (playing those racing games in the 90‘s I’d always go against the track sandbox mode and aim for Gordon’s car first). He’s not a guy that races for the race, but strictly to win and for the money. Yeah that stuff is great, but he’s too cocky for the sport. At least that‘s what I’ve always gotten out of watching him.
