Nationwide Porn Harms Campaign Launches, Organizers Say Porn Silently and Secretly Destroys LivesA broad coalition of 110 groups have come together to launch a month-long campaign intended to educate the public about the harms of pornography. The initiative, created by the War on Illegal Pornography Coalition, brings local and national groups together to address the negative consequences of porn, while providing educational and support tools.

Each week, the campaign will tackle a different issue associated with pornography. This week, experts will discuss porn addiction. Then, the campaign will shift to the harm that is done to children, an exploration of sex trafficking and, in its final week, it will conclude with violence against women. According to LifeSiteNews.com, the campaign’s planners say:

“[Porn] is a pandemic ruining lives, marriages and families. Our now Pornified society has eroded the cultural norms in America to the point that even a major TV network, using the public airwaves, is planning programming with a known pornographer and exploiter of women. This harm must end.”

Organizers, who claim that pornography is “silently and secretly” destroying lives, are planning 25 events, webcasts and plenty more. They claim that they, much like the producers of pornography who they are combatting, can use the Internet to spread a message of hope. Below, watch the campaign’s first online event:

This initiative is one of many that address what appears to be a rise in addiction to pornography. HeLPAddictions.org is a new web site intended to help cure this growing problem. Examiner.com reports:

Those addicted to porn now have a website to go to, a sort of Internet-based hotline, to help with their addiction. A U.K.-based company, HeLPAddictions.org, has launched a porn addiction hot line of sorts, based on the Internet as a 24-hour a day counseling website…

[Faye Blackwell, one of the site's three counseling experts] said, “It’s obvious to us that Internet-based addiction has become increasingly prevalent over the years. This addiction carries extra baggage. People are embarrassed and guilt-ridden, and there aren’t many places that they can go to talk about it.”

    There is a site that has helped me with this addiction, it is xxxchurch.com I know it has a funny URL but these guys are serious about helping people out with pornography addictions. There are quite a few Christian Bands that I know of that promote this website because of what it stands for. Check it out…

      So I guess you never bothered to see if there were any health side effects from what porn stars engage in. For that matter, you yourself are being warped by the overstimulation of hormones triggered by excessive viewing and accompanying masturbation. So yes, there is a great deal of harm that comes from porn.

    It’s true porn can be harmful just like drinking & driving can be harmful – so don’t drive while looking at porn.

    Seriously, porn can be addictive to some people just as alcohol or other things can be; too much of anything is bad for most people. I’ve overdone volunteer/service work in the past & my family suffered. On the other hand, I’ve seen a few skin flicks & porno mags in the past 40 years but it never interfered w/ any aspect of my life, work, or family.

    Emancipated adults have the right to choose to view porn or not but if it becomes any type of an issue then leave it alone &/or seek help if needed.

    How then can we suffer for sins that Christ has already suffered vicariously for us, but in union with Christ. A mind set on Christ suffering for our sin to the extent we are conscious of it appears to be our armament (arm yourself with this same mind) to effect :
    1. cessation from sin
    2. living in the Spirit, not in the flesh
    3. living to the will of God, not the lusts of men.
    Are not these the central challenges we face in the Christian Life. To cease from sin’s domination over us. To live filled with the Spirit for extended periods of time unbroken by carnally living in the flesh due to sin. To live to do the will of God. Peter the Rock gives us the stonecutter’s formula, The fisherman’s technique, the apostle’s method. This book sets forth a few mindsets we are to follow: 1. Set(Arm) our mind on(with) our union, our partaking, with Christ in His suffering for us bearing our sin on the cross. 2. Rejoice in the tests of suffering we receive following Christ. Joy inexpressible and full of glory about the Lord’s soon coming.

    This is a VERY important issue and should definitely kick breast cancer awareness to the curb when it comes to bandwagon issues that everyone openly champions. I’m not being sarcastic, I’m serious. This should easily be an issue that the hollywood/music crowd/politicos should get behind.

    And the best part, you don’t need a religious angle to preach the message.

    Becuase, lets face it, a religious angle is going to close minds in this day and age before you even get your point across. Young people will just pretend you are looney and do the opposite of what you tell them. And, trust me, I know a ton of young people and they get started with looking at porn very early – pre-teenage years.

    And they then proceed to copy what they saw with their friends, etc. If you dont think your girls are experimenting with their female friends then your nuts. Its not even always with pressure coming from their boyfriends. Our youth’s world view of relationships and sex is being totally rewired due to porn. You won’t even recognize America in ten years .

      unrealist relational expectations,disfunctional marriages deviorces, child support,disfuntional children that continue the cycle like demestic abuse, sometimes With it all mixed in together !
      My First 3 kids did’nt get this guidance, i was diorvced, traveling, using, absent ! and they suffered from all the above systems, But Thank God they survived ! all along my travels I was aware of God
      but felt I was’nt good enough to be on his team ,so I ROAD tHAT hIGHWAY tO hELL !

    Porn is one of the worst problems of recent times. How do you think those movies get made? What happens to those girls after the porn industry uses them up.       Thank you Lux. I agree with every word you posted.

      That said I have to add that I don’t believe that pornography (other than that involving minors) should be illegal. It is a matter of morality, like using drugs, alcohol, and tobacco and it is not a matter for legislation.
      I choose not to use pornography, drugs, alcohol, or tobacco but I don’t need the nanny state to tell me not to. I believe that legislation in these matters actually makes the use of them more prevalent and creates more crime than if all of them were legal (as alcohol prohibition proved).

      The only way to reduce the widespread use of all of these vices is for Christians to quietly and humbly set the example for their families and friends in a way that will make them want to do the same. I believe that moral behavior is even more influential and contagious than immoral behavior (which has caught on in America like a plague).

    It does destroy marriages and families. Marriage is sacred and so is sex. Everything is sexualized now, even commercials. We are exposing our young people to overwhelming amounts of sex on TV.       Careful. You’re committing the liberal error of not reading carefully, making a false assumption, then forming an ill-advised opinion.
      This is an AD campaign. It’s not about govt force, but rather education. Because porn ISN’T innocent for anyone it touches. No one‘s saying adults shouldn’t be able to choose it, they ARE saying that adults who engage in it are not making smart choices.

      Way to completely miss the point AMERICAN… Seriously, you think that since it’s no problem to you,(if you say so “wink”) its no problem.. You like porn?? How often do you indulge?? You like watching porn with your wife?? Do you buy it for your children?? The scariest part of this is the number of people that would answer yes to ALL of those questions.. Hey, Jr.s gotta learn about sex somewhere and what better way than with the total violation, exploitation, and degradation coming from a good old fashioned porno.. Works too.. I mean up to 40% of married couples actually stay married these days and I’m sure porn never has anything to do with marriage relationships..

      The usual fallacy, “buying it for children” is absolutely rediculous. If any of you had any lives at all you’d find out lots of married couples watch porn together. I’ve bought tapes for my husband on those long deployments away from home. Why? I‘m perfectly comfortable with myself knowing who he’s coming home to.
      Most of the porn industry is run by women.
      The “exploitation and violence!” Typical feminist argument, when the fact is everyone watched porn at one point or another. Nothing wrong with adhering to natural urges, and if you’re one of those who thinks that sends us all to Hell, then what do you care? Stay out of people’s business.

      As happy said.. Read the article CHRISTABEL.. Its about an ad campaign, not regulation.. If a porno is what it takes to get you there then fine, I don’t care.. Honestly I don’t, except for the fact that I can guarantee you that if you and your husband watch porno’s to get off, or just for fun, you won’t be married long.. And I still don’t care… I’m just sayin…

      Ah yes, and how about those “great” parents that leave it laying about the house where the kiddies find it. And don‘t tell me it doesn’t happen, because it does. I have a friend whose husband used to leave it around. She would put it away hoping the kids hadn’t seen it. One day she finds her 3 year old daughter in her bedroom watching a porn that her husband had left in the machine. Count the number of lousy parents and you’ve just counted the number that would do something like that.

    Ever since the day Adam and Eve saw them selves naked and hid themselves from one another. OK, how about some reality??? We are all human and nudity is nothing new! So why is everyone freaking out? I guess it depends on how you see it??? How about freedom of what we choose to look at??? Not like we are all children, duh! It’s not the governments right to tell you what you can look at or tell you what you cannot look at!

      It‘s not the FEDERAL govt’s right to tell adults what they can and can’t see, but smaller levels of govt should and must enforce public decency standards. Without them, it’s an inevitable race to the bottom with nudy pics on every billboard. I’ve been to France–it’s not harmless to society, trust me.
