NATO Choppers Kill Three Gunmen on Kabul Hotel Rooftop

NATO Choppers Kill Three Gunmen on Kabul Hotel RooftopKABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — The U.S.-led coalition in Afghanistan says two NATO helicopters have killed three gunmen atop a hotel in Kabul after insurgents attacked with suicide bombers, machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades.

Jason Waggoner, a spokesman for the coalition, says the helicopters fired early Wednesday morning on the roof where militants had taken up positions. He says they killed three gunmen and that Afghan security forces clearing the hotel worked their way up to the roof and engaged the remaining insurgents.

The helicopters attacked after four massive explosions rocked the Inter-Continental hotel.

The Blaze’s earlier story provides details on the suicide bombing attack at Kabul’s Hotel Intercontinental.

    Wait, NATO choppers… in Kabul? North Atlantic… just what does anything going on in Kabul have to do with the “North Atlantic Treaty Organization?”
    I am all for killing terrorists, but NATO, in Afganistan? Why not just make NATO the military arm of the UN while you are at it?

    With Obama announcing his withdrawal to the whole world I‘m sure it’s going to get alot worse. There’s going to be wholesale slaughter and then the Taliban will take over.

    Barack Obama had our troops fighting a war with these savages with their hands tied behind their backs.

    Since Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize, he sure has been cool with popping Somali pirates, double tapping Osama, gunning down terrorists. The one thing positive I can say about Obama is that he has done ok with getting his George Bush on. Got to give credit where credit is due. The American military gets the credit, but to be honest, the Peace Prize winner seems pretty darn trigger happy with giving the nod to a lot of killing, ..just saying. Nobody can be all bad..ha

    Ah yes, more attacks on innocent civilians from the “religion of peace”. One day, we will either wake up and realize that Islam has declared war on us (infidels) or we will wake up and realize that we are ruled by Islam. I wonder which will happen first.

      We can not blame an entire religious group for the actions of a small group. These men committed evil, but there personal reasoning behind it does not label all followers of Islam guilty of their crime.

      “Classical Liberal”, your name indicates you are clueless, and you have given us more evidence with your post. Not all religions are the same. Islam’s founder, doctrine, and history show us how evil it really is while you and your fellow apologists ignor the evidence.

      @RONMORGEN; firstly, I don’t believe you understand what classical liberalism is. Secondly, resentment or hatred towards a religious group and people of faith will bring Ill upon our country and the rights we hold dear.

      Saying those people have no right to practice their faith because you feel it is illegitimate is exactly why the bill of rights was drafted in the first place.

      Please try and be tolerant, if individuals try to change our laws to match their beliefs, that’s one thing, if they are practicing their faiths, not breaking our laws or harming constitution doing so, then that is fine.

      @classical liberal
      Most people today would recognize the description of Libertarian as what you describe as classical liberal. Unfortunately your description and understanding of Islam is misguided. The practice of Islam requires subjugation of all in the world to Islam. Read the Quran and the Haddith for understanding of these precepts. They do not have a right to require all outside their faith to be subjugated, pay a fine or die. No other faith on earth has these requirements. When presented with the choice of subjugation or death I will respond with great controlled force.

      Just a fore runner to what will happen when we leave. Waste of money and man power. Let the bastards go Taliban. Just keep a couple of Nukes aimed at them. We are not responsible for their people. So be it. Why do we keep thinking others think like us. They don’t. Let them rot in their own world. We owe them nothing. Time to get our boys home to protect ourselves. They are coming after us. The decisions will be there. We are under attack by most of the world. Let’s give them a taste before they hit us.

      This war in Afghanistan is making me weary. Even Gates was trying to avoid terms like victory, and winning. We have to start stomping on poppy-fields, and bombing the mountain hide-outs. When we send every member of the Afghan “Defence Force” to Paris Island for training, along with every fit man conscripted, then we shall have won this war. The Afghan Government can defray our costs with long-term mining rights, and a huge U.S. Air force base comprised of at least 10% of Afghanistan.
