NBC has issued a formal apology to members of Congress for editing out the words “under God” from a patriotic Pledge of Allegiance montage that aired during the network’s June 19 coverage of the U.S. Open.
In a letter to 107 congressman, Kyle McSlarrow, president of NBC Universal, explained that the decision was not made by the company, but rather by a small group of people who have since been reprimanded.
“[A] serious error in judgment was made by a small group of people,” McSlarrow said in the letter. “To be absolutely clear, this was not an ideological decision by the company and was not discussed with or approved by any senior NBC official.”
He added, “The employees involved have been reprimanded. And we have already implemented a new checks and balances process for pre-produced pieces, ensuring that nothing will go on the air without senior-level approval.”
McSlarrow’s apology was in response to a letter signed by 107 members of Congress who wrote to NBC complaining about its editorial decision. The montage from last month edited out the phrase “under God” not once, but twice.

Posted on July 13, 2011 at 8:32amThis is just the beginning of the media changing not our minds but the minds of our children that God doesn’t matter in AMERICA anymore, and it’s working because most parents let their children have televisions in their bedrooms. The parents don’t monitor what they watch and hear. Most parents don’t care what their children are being taught in school. I am sorry but this is the truth and until we put a stop to what is being taught and put on the air, then our children will be lost. Watch what Germany did when Hitler took over. It will happen here.

Posted on July 13, 2011 at 5:01pmI agree with part of what you said, the schools and some programs promote the leftist agenda. But the part about tv‘s in the bedrooms doesn’t always apply. I have a mentally disabled 21 year old and an exceptionally bright 12 year old that both have tv’s in their rooms and are taught right from wrong. My 12 year old will stop watching a show because he sees the agenda being promoted and my 21 year old wants to vote next election so he can help kick Obama out of office. It’s what you teach them.

Since NBC did that, I
1. Have not watched NBC
2. Have not visited MSNBC’s website
3. Have not watched MSNBC channel
4. Stopped Buying GE products
5. I will not pay to see a Universal Movie or TV production from Universal Studios.
If I had comcast I would have canceled the service.
If we are serious guys about changing this, it won’t happen unless enough of us do this. Call, Write all NBC companies and inform them you are boycotting, and stick with it until they issue a PUBLIC apoligy and stop doing this to Gods name.

Posted on July 13, 2011 at 8:24amI’m with you on that! I also wonder what kind of reprimand did they get? Probably they told the “ones at fault – officially) not to do it again or if they do then do it in a way that they don’t get caught so easily by the people. I do know that if NBC was serious about this then they would have, at the very least, fired these people and they would have announced that they fired them. They would have not said that they “reprimanded them”. If they dislike saying Under God during the Pledge then maybe NBC should send them to one of their foriegn offices for the rest of their lives or at least as long as they worked for them, but we know that they won’t do that since they agreed with what happened at least in part.

We are so beneath them that we don’t matter. After all, we are just bitter clingers. NBC only apologized to Congress for CYA reasons, so Congress wouldn’t take any kind of action with the FCC. Second, NBC is owned by GE, which is in bed with Obama so, not only is anything they say not to be believed, but as far to the left as they are, of course they’re not really going to have a problem omitting God from the Pledge.
Don’t listen to what they say. Watch what they do.

Mind you I do not watch much golf on TV, yet indeed the game has more integrity than NBC leaders who allowed this to happen; they need to apologize to the people of America, to the golfers and to all the world as a whole for allowing this to happen.
Deleting the ‘Under God’ part once could, just remotly, be an accident; twice in the same commercial is not an accident, it is an deliberate affont to the nation and to the people at that game as well.
