NBC Sitcom Star’s Dirty Palin Joke Prompts Quick Apology

USA Today:

TNT wasted no time apologizing for Tracy Morgan’s suggestive comments about Sarah Palin on Thursday night. Morgan, star of NBC’s 30 Rock sitcom, said during an appearance on TNT’s Inside the NBA that he fantasized about the former U.S. vice presidential candidate and Alaska Governor. TNT’s Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith laughed nervously while Ernie Johnson quickly tried to change the subject.

“It’s unfortunate Mr. Morgan showed a lack of judgment on our air with his inappropriate comments,” said Turner spokesman Jeff Pomeroy in a statement.

Who the hell cares. Glenn Beck fantasized about killing Michael Moore, I didn’t see Fox apologizing for his words. If anything Glenn Becks words are far more inciting words then Tracy Morgan’s.

KILLA FROM WASILLA: Show me when and where Glenn Beck “fantasized” about killing anyone. Show me. Put up or shut up. For you to know what anyone fantasized about, he/she would have to say it or write it. That’s how we know Mr. Morgan’s thoughts on Palin. He told us. He spoke the words. So unless you’re a mind-reader, I’d appreciate it if you would stop making false accusations agains another person. In my world, that’s a slimy, vacuous thing to do. Your own words discredit you.

Why is Sarah Palin a target of demeaning “bad jokes”? Even her own daughter has experienced the same thing.

Sometimes, I wonder, if the Holy Spirit is still on planet earth or has departed because the people stink with their foul words.

Proverbs 15:4 “A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but, perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.”

Proverbs 18: 21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

James 3: 5 “Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold how great a matter a little fire kindleth!”

MAY THE WORDS COMING OUT OF OUR MOUTHS BE WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT, INSPIRATION, COMFORT AND PLEASANT TO OUR EARS.

Romans 12:21 ” Be not overcome of evil but, but overcome evil with good.”

Honesty is honesty. Admittedly, there can be intellectual, and unintelligent honesty. However, I was not aware that there could be “ARROGANT honesty until I read a post concerning the profer of political candidates to the electorate. Ones ability to denigrate another based on their perception of anothers intelligence is the epitome of arrogance, conceit, and emotional insecurity. Why must someone infer that another is inferior intellectually? I propose “insecurity” about ones own intelligence would cause such “childish actions”. If the “ yardstick” is intelligence in judging the abilities of man/woman to be successful, allow me to direct your attention to the current state of affairs regarding our elected officials. Collectively, the House & Senate have approximately 2140 YEARS ( at a minimum) of “higher education” and have yet to solve the many problems facing the nation. So, when using intellect as a means of determining the abilities of man, you just may be doing yourself a disservice to restrict your thinking to a singular attribute. Does old age and treachery trump youthful exhuberance? Does common sense trump intellect?

Someone told me many years ago that there are ordinary people, those who stand out from the common folks, and from those are people with merit. I strive to be in the group of people who have merit.

What he said about Sarah Palin does nothing to show merit. It does, however, show his commonness, lack of class, and poor judgment.

Sarah Palin, on the other hand, has merit. She has beauty, charm, and brains, is entertaining, and is definitely a leader. The Progresswives recognize these qualities in Sarah, and they show their fear of her by their common remarks.

I always think wisdom is most commonly gained through a healthy combination of knowledge & intellect. While Sarah *may* have an above average intellect, she certainly has one of the smallest knowledge bases in the history of presidential politics. Which leads one to wonder about the likelihood of what she might call her “wisdom” being based on anything real. When this quotient is applied to previous republican presidents & candidates the foundation of these people’s wisdom looks quite compelling. Reagan, George H W Bush, Bob Dole, Richard Nixon, Pat Buchanan are all good examples of these. Even though I may disagree with their politics generally speaking, they can make a compelling argument that comes from the heart; and under tough cross examination they can continue to explain their reasoning in a way that follows logic. This is where George W Bush, Bachmann, Palin, Angle, O’Donnell etc. get into trouble.

REPUBLICANS- I beg you…please nominate a candidate that meets this test, at least then you’ll have a chance of convincing the rest of us that this person needs to be respected for much more than just “the president deserves our respect because uhhhhh….they’re the president!” And in the mean time please spare us the ridiculous indignation you display when we roll our eyes at these illogical wildcard personalities you have asked us to take seriously. It really should be beneath us both don’t you think?

This wasn’t planned – its a sports show and Tracy Morgan is an idiot. he thought he was talking “to the guys.”

So – Sarah Palin is hot, it is compliment. Even Tracy Cho (an ultra-lib comedienne) said she wanted to hate-f*** her in a special on HBO. This is not new. This is the left’s way of actually trying to say she is good looking, but stupid.

But it does bring up the question of where Sarah would be without her looks. I personally don’t she is presidential material, either, and I am sure most people know she is a losing proposition as a candidate – at least right now. She is a TV hostess who is more watched on TLC than on Fox News.

It’s too bad for Sarah – if she really has Preseidential aspirations, that she hasn’t figured out you can just adlib your way through life and be a politician. You have to gain the respect of thinking people who expect leadership.

I like Sarah Palin just fine, I could have lived with her a VEEP, but she isn’t any Ronald Reagan.

“It is a characteristic of wisdom not to do desperate things” (Henry David Thoreau).

Good questions, but where I think you err is in the very beginning with your definition of WISDOM “being gained through a healthy combination of knowledge and intellect’.

I disagree with your definition because you argue too strongly for intellectual knowledge and not enough for honesty, integrity, and common sense, which are absolutely critical to having good judgment.

Looking up “Wisdom” in a dictionary, it said:

      1. The ability to discern or judge what is true, right, or lasting; insight.
      2. Common sense; good judgment:
      3. a. The sum of learning through the ages; knowledge.
      b. Wise teachings of the ancient sages.
      4. A wise outlook, plan, or course of action.
      5. Wisdom Bible Wisdom of Solomon.

The thing we Palin fans love so much about Sarah is her honesty and integrity, her common sense and good judgment! She knows right from wrong and unlike many ‘intellectual’ politicians, she’s acted accordingly – even when it was to the detriment of her own ‘party’ – as when she exposed cronyism between the oil industry and several Republicans she was serving with.

As Governor of Alaska, she was legally and intellectually entitled to a chef, a chauffeur, and a private jet; but wisdom argued against using them since she didn’t absolutely need them and honesty/integrity argued for letting the Alaskan taxpayers keep their own money rather than taking it from them. THAT IS WISDOM.

The Progressive left cannot stand such honesty because it undermines every bankrupt argument they use to get re-elected and maintain their position at our expense.

So what if some other politicians are better than Sarah at memorizing historical dates and facts? – You can pay your staff or cabinet to know that stuff. What you cannot buy is honesty and integrity – and both are an absolute requisite before you can have wisdom – for by definition it is unwise to operate without them.

The thing we tea partiers are so sick and tired of are the politicians who make intellectual-sounding arguments that are inherently dishonest! The congress that just concluded showed the least amount of wisdom of any body in American history! Their ‘intellectual’ arguments for the ObamaCare bill were so absurd and convoluted that Pelosi finally had to tell us, “You’ll just have to pass it to find out what’s in it!” It was like watching a surreal Fellini movie that no-one understands because we’re just not ‘intellectual’ enough. Surely you’re not arguing for Obama or any Democrats when you ask us to consider ‘intellect’ or ‘wisdom’ as a qualification for the next election???

There’s no way it is honest (or wise) to saddle our great-grandchildren with trillions of dollars of debt just so that we can avoid the pain of living today! – Yet how many politicians that are pushing to raise the debt ceiling rather than cut spending are in your ‘plus’ column? (Meaning that perhaps you’d vote with them because their arguments sound intellectual).

Progressive politicians in both parties are like drug pushers seeking crack addicts – pandering to the least wise among us… Sure – it sounds good ‘intellectually’ when they offer to make our pain go away by giving us other people’s money (after they get their cut) but they never tell us about the true costs as long as those can be hidden until they’re out of office. That is intellectually dishonest, and we’ve had ENOUGH of it!

The one thing we can count on Sarah Palin for is honesty and common sense – something sorely lacking in most of the candidates that the tea party chooses not to support. As long as the mainstream media remains so corrupt, she may not be electable – but not for any shortage of qualifications on her part. By the Democrats’ standards, she is over-qualified when you consider whom they’ve been sending to the White House and Congress.

If you’re so against Sarah Palin, then how about YOU nominate someone for President -someone else who would voluntarily give up all those extra perks of office out of sympathy for the burden on the taxpayers… (I’m calling you to live up to your name here so don’t make me laugh by naming someone who lacks the common sense to cut spending dramatically). Once you get the definition of ‘Wisdom’ correct, who’s wiser than Palin?

Does anyone at NBC have control of what is said on their shows, do they have any class whatsoever or do they just want to continue airing out of the gutter? If their execs got paid by the amount of class they had they would have to be out picking up aluminum cans on the highway to make ends meet. Get a grip, go to finishing school, get a book on manners and good taste from Amazon, do something!

      To Intellectual Honesty,
I think,if you have any of what your name implies, that you would admit that our president has proven that ‘intellectual and honesty’ don’t go together.
I’d take Sarah over him anytime. You need the honesty part. Anyway, she’d have people around her to advise her on political and diplomatic matters. All Presidents have that. Do you honestly think that every President knows the leader of every country. H$ll, Obama doesn’t even know how many states we have, and calls Marines ‘corpsemen’.
You fall into the same category as, I’m afraid to say, that far too many Americans are in. You have been duped into believing the rhetoric of people from the socialist far-left. First they say women should be free to pursue anything, then, when one of their own succeeds, they vilify because she is not in line with their beliefs.
Sarah would be just fine as Prez. Maybe she isn‘t as ’slick’ as Clinton or Obama, but to understand our Constitution, and abide by it, ‘slickness’ isn’t required.

Enuff Zenuff You are spot on. I guess, they can’t push Sarah as stupid, so now let’s attack her accumulated knowledge. If that is the standard I only have to look at some of the democratic so called leaders. I’ll take her honesty and family values over, Cold cash in fridge and conflict of interest with banks, any day of the week. I’ll vote for her.

Thank you very much for that fine example of Palin Derangement Syndrome (PDS). The progressives simply can’t resist dragging (dare I say her name?) Sarah Palin into EVERYTHING. When was the last time you heard CT Governor Jodi Rell or AZ Governor Brewer dragged into sports commentary? How come no one talks about former vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro and implicates her at sports events, shootings, and other incidents?

And of course, it was NBC, not CBS or ABC. The broadcasters at NBC need to get a life.

A lot of men like a strong woman like Sarah. I’m just sorry she had to come on the scene as VP to to likes of McCain. That daughter of his need to be publicly chastised for being so stupid and an airhead.
Daddy is a RINO and thought Sarah could pump the excitement into his campaign while his handlers were giving her a bad time. They didn’t like her clothes and I noticed what she wore of her own looked perfect and nice and some of the trashy things they chose for her were crap. I notice these things.

honesty: “certainly has one of the smallest knowledge bases in the history of presidential politics.”

what do you base that on? how do you know what she knows or doesn’t know? do you rent the house next door?
with all of your “intellectual honesty” in prodding us to disregard s.p., the fact of the matter remains that what we need, first and foremost, someone who loves this country and sincerely wants to represent “we the people.” political hacks, brilliant ex-professors profficient in teleprompter reading, etc. need not apply. oh, yeah, by the way, what has all of the “large” knowledge bases in the history of presidential politics gotten us? A BIG MESS.

With all due respect to everyone in the thread, I think you are all missing the mark with your arguments. IMHO, since 1960, there have been two Presidents who were Leaders in the true sense of the word. One was a Democrat, the other a Republican. One was very young, and the other was very old. One was a true blue blood, the other was a commoner. One had no executive experience before rising to the Presidency, the other was the successful Governor of our most populous state. One went to arguably the best university in America, the other went to a small almost unknown college. Neither was particularly outstanding academically, but neither of them was stupid.

They both had a fundamental belief in the goodness of the American ideal. They both had the ability to take their vision for the future of America and to translate that into an agenda. They both had the ability and willingness to surround themselves with good and diverse advisers instead of toadies and to listen to them. They both were excellent communicators and knew how to compromise on small details without selling out their larger vision. Rare individuals they were indeed.

I don’t know if Sarah Palin is the next great American leader. But I do know that it doesn’t take all that much intelligence, or a ton of wisdom, or an intimate knowledge of history or geography, or any of the other things you all are touting as necessary to be a great President. It takes the ability to lead to be a great President. America experienced a lot of the same kind of chaos that we are seeing today in the almost 20 years between John Kennedy and Ronald Reagan. The reason; no real leadership. And now it’s been a little over 20 years since Reagan and we are seeing the chaos pick up again. The reason; no real leadership.

Let’s concentrate on looking for our next great Leader, not our next great media star, rocket scientist or philosopher. It might be Sarah Palin and it might not be. Who knows? But let’s focus on that which we know from recent history is important, not what the zeros in the media try to lead us to.

      @Neversaynever
I said JFK was a true Leader. He didn’t do everything right. But, he did a lot of things right. Number one, in my book, was his vision. When he said in January 1961 that America would put a man on the moon before that decade was over how many people around the world do you think believed him? Not too many, I bet. I sure didn’t. But what happened in July 1969? We had men on the moon! JFK did do that, but he shared his vision which allowed that to happen. Not unlike Reagan and the Berlin wall. Very similar in my opinion.

There is plenty of room for disagreement on my analysis. But, I am holding to it. I am not going to argue that wisdom is better than intelligence, or Palin is smarter than Obama, or whatever. In my opinion that should be reserved for the third grade playground. You know, my dad can beat up your dad. I‘m going keep looking for someone who I think has real vision as opposed to go where I’m led by the media and the rest of the crowd. But that is just one grunts opinion.
