NBC Trumpets Global Warming, Quotes Al Gore in Piece on Modern-Day Noah’s Ark

Dutch builder Johan Huibers is building a modern-day Noah’s Ark. He had a dream 20 years ago that a great flood was coming, so he decided to build a giant boat modeled after Noah’s biblical boat. Seems innocent enough, and interesting. That‘s probably why NBC’s “Today” show decided to cover it. But what is less certain is why the reporter decided to trumpet global warming and quote Al Gore and his movie, “An Inconvenient Truth.”

Here’s how Michael Inbar put it in the text version of the story:

Unfortunately for the Netherlands, and especially the city of Dordrecht, which has been hard-hit by floods several times in its history, Huibers’ ominous dream of 20 years ago has become more of a reality. In the Oscar-winning documentary “An Inconvenient Truth,” former U.S. Vice President Al Gore warned of the future melting of Greenland’s ice, which he said would be “absolutely devastating” to the low-lying Netherlands.

This is how correspondent Janet Shamlian put it in the video version Wednesday(via NewsBusters):

“Today’s” pandering to the global warming agenda is especially unfortunate because the information about Huibers’s ark is quite interesting. For example, he’s been building his ark for three years at a cost of $1.6 million; he’s building it as close as possible to the exact specifications laid out in the Bible; it can hold 1,500 people; and it may even make an appearance at the 2012 Olympics.

    So lemme get this straight,a guy in the Netherlands is concerned about flooding. The Netherlands floods as it is!
    “The Netherlands is a geographically low-lying country, with about 25% of its area and 21% of its population located below sea level,and 50% of its land lying less than one metre above sea level.”

    Considering the religious based nature of this ark you know the only reason NBC covered it was because they could that clip of Fat Albert talking about the ice melting. I promise you they won’t be so kind if they do a story about the folks wanting to build an ark in Kentucky as part of a biblical tourist attraction!

    This guy is building an ark because he believes that there will be flooding due to global warming according to the reporter. Meanwhile, Al Gore is buying multi-million dollar ocean front property. Does he believe that the rising water isn’t going to happen where he has bought property? He is proposing that people have fewer children to cut back on pollution but whenever he flies he does so in private jets and his home uses approximately 20 times more energy then the average household. Of course he buy “carbon credits” so that’s okay. And just who is it that makes money from selling “carbon credits”? Al Gore. This guy is a con artist. A con artist who not only scams you but laughs in your face after doing so. What kind of idiot would actually use this crook as an authority on anything except on how to scam the gullible.

Remember WWII? we( both sides) sank millions of tons of shipping- they all carried gas and oil aboared those ships, we burned(bombed) thousands of homes,factories and people all over the world. Does anyone see a temperature spike in 1945? Can we do damage the the planet?yes. But it is probably local( see cutting down of the rain forests and the micro climate change going on). Can you breed enough people on the planet to make changes to local climate?yes, and these days with so many people on the planet, SOMEONE will be affected( see U.S. floods and tornados). More people-more targets.(tornados aren’t just snacking on trailer parks anymore).

    They can trumpet Global Warming all they want…most Americans don’t believe it anymore…that‘s one reason they’re on the bandwagon again…the news is out that most of us know that climate is cyclicle. In any event what’s important is that we fight the groups that work to change our energy usage. Making sure to understand that a battery is NOT a “source” of electricity. You don’t get power from a battery unless the power is first put into the battery….hence, the hoax just continues. Drill here, use natural gas, work with the coal industry to make it the best. There is so much we CAN do, sooo tired of being told we CAN’T do things.

    I guess this TV segment would be more worrying to the public except the ark builder was Dutch, a citizen of a country made out of reclaimed ocean marshes. Of course flooding could happen, if you’re, in many areas, below the height of the ocean.

      Hey Nick,the Pacific ocean is in a La Nina cycle look it up. The Pacific is cooling and several climate professors posted articles stating that this year there would be really bad weather because of the cooling of the pacific jet stream. More over these same professors said that the hurricane cycle in the atlantic would produce a low amount of storms but those proiduce stood a better chance of reaching land than in the EL NINO cycle.
      Then check out the massive growth in of over 26% on the east ice shelf of antartica verses the 11% lost on the western shelve. that means the continent grew by 15% over all.
      And finally look at the California size ice shlef that wasn’t measured by the support ICCP when they made their artic claims.

      Three studies suggest a decline in sun spots – to the point that they could largely vanish for a long period. That could lead to fewer solar storms, as well as a chance to study whether fewer sun spots leads to a cooler climate on Earth.

Then, before humans existed, began melting. Today they continue their northerly retreat. Ever heard of the Maunder Minimum and the little ice age? Too much of this is way beyond human control.

      GLOBAL WARMING IS A HOAX, BUT CLIMATE CHANGE IS A MISNOMER

      Everyone knows that the ‘climate’ goes through cycles, there are the ice ages and the warm ages. This is not called Global Warming and it is not man-made global warming. It is simply climate changing, usually made by solar activity, cycles of the earth’s positioning, and maybe 1% of human activity but does man really influence mother earth’s great cycles and climate, absolutely not.

      Here are some questions for readers to consider, to distinguish between these three terms, Global Warming, Man-Made Climate Change, and Climate Change (cycles):
      1) Is the temperatures around the earth rising at this time. As far as we know YES. – Is it cooling now, possibly. It is possibly at a peak and may go down do to the lack of solar activity, time will tell.

      2) Has it gotten colder and hotter in the history before, is it cyclical? YES

      3) Does man’s actions effect the environment? I am not asking how much, does it? YES (Not likely very much)

      4) Is man the cause of Global Warming? NO, these are cycles in the earth.

      Please Please NBC explain why the Pacific oceanis in a La Nina Cycle(cooling down) if the Earth is heating up. Also please explain why we have experience severly cold and snowy winter in the northern hemisphere and antartica(south hemisphere) has increased ice shelf size by 26%.
      More over please explain how data from past records in previously undeveloped locations(wooded and grassy) can be compared to data gathered in the same area when surrounded by asphalt and concrete.
      And explain what changed to the climate in damaticly the last three ice ages and tropic ages prior to man’s arrival.
