Cavuto Defends ‘Excellent’ John King for ‘Open Marriage’ Question, Tells Gingrich to ‘Save the Piety’

Fox Business host Neil Cavuto had strong words of praise for CNN journalist and debate moderator John King during his Friday broadcast. Cavuto, who acknowledged the former House Speaker political savvy and intellectual prowess, also pointed out that King is an “excellent journalist” who asked a “fair” question about the “elephant in the room.” Gingrich, as far as Cavuto is concerned, did what any politician in the same circumstance would do — which is to “swat away an embarrassing question.”

Cavuto said:

“The reporter is an excellent journalist — Newt Gingrich is an excellent politician. The excellent politician swats away an embarrassing question by trying to embarrass the guy who asked it. That is to be expected. The excellent journalist nevertheless asked knowing full well a crowd and a big one will frown on him because he did ask it. That, too, is to be expected. That doesn’t make him bad for raising an issue that has become the elephant in the room…Fair is fair! Now, argue all you want, that the media is unfair to Republicans on this kind of issue but if memory serves me right, when this stuff happens for pure ratings, they love this kind of issue. Gingrich is free to swat it away and say he has made peace with god for past transgressions but save the piety.”

Seems Gingrich gave CNN’s King the public b*tch-slapping he deserved for that question — and here’s the reason: This was a DEBATE among FOUR candidates! — not an interview with Gingrich. The question was NOT relevant to the other candidates, and therefore — regardless of it being the “elephant in the room” … had no reason to be asked … other than to attack and smear Gingrich. Saturday will show if it backfired.

It was interesting, Gingrich won this question in the eyes of the crowd, but lost almost every other question especially when Romney or Santorum served it to him. Gingrich lost the debate and Santorum won it. I am a Romney supporter and I even see this.

It was interesting to watch Gingrich question Romney’s integrity and then Romney look at him and say are we going to debate character here, now… Romney handed it to him.

FACT: Ron Paul was one of few politicians who defended Israel‘s bombing of Iraqi nuclear reactor in 80’s when USA government officially objected (it may sound insane, but USA government was arming its new secret friends at the time – Saddam and bin Laden.)

FACT: While neo-cons and progressives were salivating at Bush’s “Road Map”, Ron Paul went before the Congress in 2007 with a proposal titled “Do not force Israel to give up its land for PROMISE of peace.”

The question is relevant, and it scares me that you, among many others don’t think so. The question brought to light Newts moral character, or more accurately, the lack of. I find it disturbing that many americans have little to no concern about how an individual conducts themselves in their private life who are running not only for public office, but the highest public office. If Newt got the nomination, God forbid, and actually won the election, God forbid, he would be the first U.S. President elected to office who was a known adulterer, with a first lady who was at one time his mistress. Is this our moral state america? If it is, perhaps then we get what we have coming. In truth, I really shouldn’t be surprised. If a majority of the nation was dumb enough to elect Obama, then who‘s to say we’re not dumb enough to elect Newt.

Gingrich has recognized his short comings and confessed his ‘sins’. Bringing up this question was an attempt at political assassination by a liberal reporter and a liberal network. Having said that, Newt positioned himself for the election by serving notice to both the press and the democrats that he is willing and able to deliver a devastating broadside that will make them the bad guys if they want to play the ‘gottcha-game’. It was a far more brilliant maneuver than Gingrich is being given credit for.

Marianne Gingrich was married to Newt longer than anyone. Newt is not fit to be president. Isn’t Marianne, worthy of compassion too by the evangelical GOP voter?

Evangelicals haven’t mastered Jesus’ way of separating the chaff from the wheat. Jesus told us how to “know them.“ By their ”fruits you will know them.” By their deeds and not their words!

Gingrich’s career is a laundry list of bailout tysts for Wall Street, the Mexican peso and job-killing NAFTA, Fannie and Freddie. “This deal was cut with the Speaker, the President, the President of the Senate, in secret, without the approval of Congress to bail out the peso, but most importantly, to bail out Wall Street, the same people who just 15 months ago said `We have to have NAFTA.” –Gene Taylor, southern conservative congressman

Gingrich told Pat Robertson: “There’s no question at times of my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate.” So Newt is a=saying that patriotism made him cheat on his wives?

Why did John King stand there and take it in the chops from one of this nation’s worse philandering and lying politicians on the planet?

It is about time someone in the stupid media had the brains to see Gingrich’s hypocrisy and his deliberate dodge of the question and did not praise him for being a lying crafty pig!

I guess if Gingrich doesn’t like a question, he just needs to insult the moderator and defy answering the real question.

Only stupid people think Gingrich is smart. People with brains know Gingrich‘s record and can read through the sociopath’s rhetoric.

By the way attached is a great article from CATO on Gingrich’s leadership in Congress.

      http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=5766

One question that no one has dared to ask question is”

“Why does Gingrich think he can assume the duties of the highest office in the land when he was booted by his own party for incompetence, erratic behavior and ethical violations when he held the 3rd highest office in the land-Speaker of the House!”

Someone please answer this glaring question that commentators who earn $millions/yr don’t bother to ask.

Also, after listening to what he’s saying about illegal immigration carefully, in no way is he talking amnesty. He does NOT advocate “path to citizenship.” Merely a residency. If they want to apply for citizenship, they need to go back home and apply. Unless they did that, they would not be eligible to vote, or have the all the benefits of an American citizen. All this would happen AFTER the border is completely secured, and b/c of strong enforcement of the laws, many will have self-deported.

I agree with Neil Cavuto 100%!!! Mr. King had every right to ask what he asked, and to do it right at the very beginning, so as to remove the elephant in the room. Newt tried to turn his embarrassment around by trying to make Mr. King feel bad about asking the question. If Mr. King hadn’t asked the question, he would have been hammered for not doing it – he couldn’t win either way! Having said all of this and being a Conservative who’s not particularly excited about my choices for a GOP candidate, I would hate to have Newt and Calista in our White House sitting in such a revered position. As much as I would LOVE to see Newt debate Obama, because let’s face it… he’d shred him to pieces, I can’t reconcile having yet another adulterer running this country and with his accomplice/mistress to boot! Whether what Gingrich’s ex-wife says is 100% true, at this point is inconsequential, but the fact of the matter is Gingrich cheated on 2 wives and now wants one of the women who cheated with him to be our country’s First Lady. People make mistakes, this is true, but an 8 year affair is FAR, FAR, FAR from a mistake! 1 night is a mistake, 8 years is deceit at it’s highest level! Newt doesn‘t deserve to be our President and Calista most certainly doesn’t deserve to be our First Lady, period. I don’t trust either of them.

Now Newt on the other hand I don’t know, and that is a big deal for me. The fact that he keeps dodging this marriage question is another big deal to me. It shows that Newt has 0 character. I have watched some of the debates, and studied how Newts answers his question, and a lot of the times, he doesn’t.

Where does Newt stand his ground? His politics are all over the map. Do you not remember the couch? He has preached Post American Globalism (That means he is not only a believer of the coming New World Order, but he is anticipating it without reservation!) He cheated on his marriage vows, not once but twice, there is a pattern here that requires your attention. He is a serial liar/adulterer and in order to keep multiple relationships going at once, he had to speak out of both sides of his mouth, make promises he couldn’t keep, profess love, respect, and fidelity when in fact he didn’t feel anything of the kind, etc. Are you like the women he cheated with, thinking he won’t do the same to you? News Flash. He will. How any God fearing believer in Christ can choose this guy over Santorum or Romney is beyond reason. If Gingrich wins SC, our problems are much worse than any of us could imagine.

The debate was the wrong format to ask such a question. A debate is for getting the candidates views on national issues not personal issues.
Newt is a hypocrite – he was advocating family values and the sanctity of marriage while having an affair. This is just one example of his contempt for the American people.
I will vote for Newt if he is the only alternative to Obumbler but, he and Romney are just Obumbler light. Lie like hell to get elected then forget all your campaign promises when you get in office and blame the previous administration for everything.
Don’t for get Newts kissing up to Fancy Nancy “the Queen of Botox” Pelosi. They were great buddies when he was speaker and she was minority leader.

That’s what makes Fox good, they do present both sides. Newt is a Pompus ASS! He’s a PIG. I find it very dissapointing that so many are ready to check their morals and values to go for Newt, aka Mr Washington. What Newt does is Cheap, it‘s like at a Concert they say whatever City they’re in and the crowd goes nuts! Newt turns on the media, and he’s the second coming.. If I was Romney, I’d just attack the Media lol. Romney is Conservative, Romney can win.. Less Government, strong Military, loves his country, states rights… That sounds like a Liberal too me. Sarcasim!!

Newt is Mr washington, he took money from Freddie and Fannie, sat on the couch with Nazi Pelosi. He ripped Ryan’s Economic plan. He was speaker of the House, he had to resign in disgrace. We had one cheating President, I don’t want another one..

Like media or not, like Gingrich or not, Cavuto’s statement was true. The media is against the Republicans, get over it and answer the question. King actually gave him a nationwide forum to address this problem and he decided to use it to do the populous thing and attack the media. he could have addressed his ex-wife or address the nation to say the claims were false and due to a bad divorce, but he made his choice.

This is the same with all candidates. The media decided to run this so under journalistic integrity, which the media lacks you have to tell the world what is happening in the world, which includes an ex-wife coming out with scorn.

CAVUTO IS RIGHT, THE MEDIA SUCKS, GET OVER IT AND ANSWER THE QUESTION, NEWT USED IT FOR TO HIS ADVANTAGE

One area I agree with you. Beck also agrees with us on Gingrich. Unfortunately Beck is fine to throw the baby out with the bathwater (Ron Paul) because he does not agree with his “Golden Rule Foreign Policy”, but agrees with Paul’s foreign policy 100%. Says as much about Beck’s loyalties and intent as anything; but Beck is just as against Gingrich as he has a laundry list of progressive problems while in congress, and his personal life is just the tip of the iceberg. Santorum while has had a good family life, has been just as much of a socialist and represents what’s wrong with DC – acted as a lobbyist and was originally against the Tea Party. I can’t see how Beck would support Santorum who advocates more debt and spending and more wars, and support a man who has the same foreign policy views as Woodrow Wilson, whom Beck railed against for years on fox news.

Not every poll releases their full results, so here are the most recent:

      Fox News, 1/12-1/14:
      Obama, fav/unfav, 51%/46%, +5
      Gingrich, fav/unfav, 27%/56%, -29

      Obama, fav/unfav, 38%/45%, -7
      Gingrich, fav/unfav, 17%/49%, -32

      PPP, 1/13-1/17:

      Gingrich, fav/unfav, 26%/60%, -34

I used to watch Fox all the time but lately I am really disgusted with the whole show. They are going overboard in the fair and balanced department. I’m beginning to wonder if they are all slowly moving towards the left.

Didn‘t you hear Glenn Beck’s show when Glenn announced that Fox had made an executive decision to go more left. Fox is trying to compete with CNN (and failing).

Beginning a presidential debate with a personal question? Cavuto, I thought you were an intelligent guy. Perhaps, you are hitting the wine bottle a little too much and too often.
