Netanyahu: I’ll Take Responsibility for the Consequences if Israel Strikes Iran

Benjamin Netanyahu Says He Would Accept Responsibility for Consequences in Event of Israeli Strike Against IranIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has never shied away from speaking his mind, nor has he refrained from taking the “unpopular” stance of being hawkish when it comes to defending his country from the sea of aggressors which surrounds it. Now more than ever, as Iran draws dangerously close to attaining the nuclear arsenal it has been working tirelessly to build, the prime minister is prepared to show the world that, with or without U.S. aid, Israel will strike Iran if necessary. What’s more, he’s not afraid to accept responsibility for the ensuing consequences should such a strike take place.

His bold declaration, made during a closed meeting this week, only underscores his disappointment in current security establishment officials, who he believes are only concerned about saving face and avoiding having to take responsibility for a potential Israeli strike. And Netanyahu stated this week that he would not be concerned if an investigative committee was formed afterwards.

According to Haaretz, a number of officials who attended the meeting and who asked to remain nameless, said that most of those present believe the prime minister is steadfast in his resolve not to rely on the United States and can be expected to order an IDF strike against Iran in the months ahead.

Some believe, however, that a different strategy is at play:

Others present at the meeting, however, pointed out that Netanyahu’s comments seemed to be part of the “psychological warfare” campaign that Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak are conducting, in order to pressure the U.S. into attacking Iran itself.

At one point during the meeting, a participant asked Netanyahu what he thinks could possibly happen the day after an Israeli strike on Iran. According to one official present at the meeting, the question angered Netanyahu. “If an investigative committee is formed, I’ll go and say that I, I am responsible,” said Netanyahu, as he pounded the table, and his chest, with his fist.

Haaretz reports that the impassioned Netanyahu continued, “I’ve had enough of this atmosphere.”

“It’s also felt in other discussions [on Iran], people keep showing me presentations prepared as if for an investigative committee. I’ve told them to stop with these presentations, stop speaking on protocol, and get to the point.”

While the Israeli war hero allegedly made it clear during the meeting that he would prefer the U.S. to take the initiative, he believes the U.S. is not yet prepared to pursue military action. Haaretz adds:

According to Netanyahu, certain criteria would have to exist before the U.S. would be willing to attack Iran. If Iran were to begin enriching uranium to 90 percent instead of 20, attack American interests in the Persian gulf or carry out a massive attack against Israel, then the U.S. might be prepared to strike, he said.

Netanyahu admitted that the chance of these things happening is low, though if the U.S. does attack Iran’s nuclear facilities, Israel will not need to attack as well, he said, explaining that “the Israeli home front will be hit with ricochets no matter what happens.”

Netanyahu also said he holds a bi-weekly meeting to discuss that issue and prepare for it. “Even if rockets are fired, that would be preferable to a nuclear bomb,” he said.

When asked if an Israeli strike against Iranian nuclear facilities would thwart or merely set back by a year or two the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program, he invoked the 1981 attack on Iraq’s nuclear reactor, stating, “then too, people said it would take them two years to rebuild the reactor, but the fact remains that to this day [Iraq] doesn’t have a nuclear weapon.”

      As soon as Israel is convinced that Iran has the WEAPON or is preparing an attack, Israel will blot it off the face of the earth. Iran keeps saying they are going to rid the world of Israel, well I believe its going to be the other way. Nobama will stand and watch and root for those peace loving Muslims. Nobama is no friend to Israel.
      Now for a word or two for Jews who are U.S citizens. Wake the hell up!!!!!! Nobama is not your friend just as Hitler and the Nazis party was not your friend. Remember your Great Grand Parents voted for both of them back in the 1930′s, and you always vote for the same kind of people who will one day march you and your children into the camps. This time none of you just as we Christians will not escape total destruction in the new United States of Islam and Land of Sharia Law. Just keep voting liberal, keep supporting liberals, just put on your yellow star as you did last time and help your elderly, sick, and children into the cattle cars just like you did before.       Well lets think about this! Israel has over 6million Jews living in Israel and how many live in Iran 25,000? And you think Benyamin Net. wouldn’t bomb Iran? Thats not even a thought, you try to save the ones in Iran, but you can’t wait for them to be safe! Not when 6 million Jews are at stake! It might be Iran thinks like you do, but Benyamin doesn’t! When the time comes, and that day is coming soon, Benyamin will not hold off. Think if we wouldn’t have bombed Nagasaki or Heroshima. What could they have done or built to kill more Americans!       In case you have not heard this Greece is massing troops on Turkeys border, Turkey is amassing troops ont Syria’s border, the we have Syria and their mess and now troops are moving weapons on Lebanon’s border. And I haven’t even mentioned the US and Great Britain Special Forces waiting on the Northern border of Syria. Then Russia has moved ships, troops, and subs, into the Eastern part of the Meditterranian near the Syria Coast. Thats not the End, China has just moved Destroyers through the Suez Canal, and have allready had other ships dropping off equipment and troops! Then we have the muslim brotherhood and terrorists at the Southern border of Israel and in Gaza with Hezball and Hamas! What could go wrong with any of this? Nothing right? No, then we take Iran with Nuclear material, Bio and Chemical weapons in Syria and God knows where else! I have heard prior to us invading Iraq the first time, Russian Planes were flown into Iraq and Saddams weapons of Mass Destruction were flown to Syria and transported to the Bekka Valley. A favorite place of Hammas or Hezballa! As soon as Assad falls, God help us! Our special forces have no Idea how much or where all these weapons are. Some of these groups “radical” are terrorists and who knows where in the World they’ll end up! Just like the Bible says “I will put hooks in the Jaws of all Nations to bring them to battle in Jehoshaphat”! Its not the next battle, but some of the other wars will run in succession! Iran!

      I stated in a different post that the Bible states Israel will somehow increase the area of land making Israel bigger than what it is today. Its probably going to be a war on the South and East Border of Israel! It may take place at the same time when Israel strikes Irans Nuclear Facility’s and then Egypt, Saudi Arabia, or Jordon, would try to strike. Israel will win and the Country of Israel will increase. Then the walls can come down in Israel giving them a false sense of security. Damascus has to be destroyed also and not just a portion of it! All of Damascus will be uninhabitable! Its so close, doesn’t it also say Israel will have 7 months of burrying dead enemy soldiers that have ben killed?       The destruction of Aswan High Dam would set the Egyptians way back, yet ultimately benefit the farmer who needs the alluvial deposits that his forefathers had. In time, irrigation w/o flooding will use up teh soil w/too many salt deposits.

      That said, the loss of life along the suddenly unhindered Nile River would be horrendous. Over 90 percent of Egypt is on the flood plain. The Johnstown flood of 1889 (small earthen dam failed) would look like a simple rainy day gone south in comparison. Millions of Egyptians would perish in the matter of a few minutes, hours, and days.

      The countries that surround Israel are in complete chaos. They aren‘t stable because their governments have just been overthrown and they’re still struggling for power within them, or are in the midst of a civil war. They are hardly in a position to attack Israel.

      Last assessment I‘ve seen was they might be close to building a nuclear weapon in a few years and they’ve been saying this since Clinton was President. Also, they said the Iranians hadn’t decided whether or not they were even going to build one. (Though I imagine they would) However, that hardly equates to a nuclear arsenal. I know the Russians have nukes, and their media is reporting that Putin stated he put some in Cuba. (Again… sigh)

      And the name-calling is unnecessary. Wanting peace doesn’t make one an anti-Semite (I’m not a collectivist) or a dumbass. I believe that a preemptive attack will cause more suffering for everyone, including the Jewish folks in Israel. I think it will escalate into something much larger than we’ve seen throughout history. We cannot continue to box Russia and China in without expecting them to fight back.
