‘Never Again!’: Dad’s Unforgettable Reaction on Dollywood Ride Goes Viral

At some point with more experience and awareness of how the world works — or at least knowledge of the effects of gravity — adults might become more fearful of certain adventuresome activities that children more daringly take on. Some amusement park rides, for example, take riders at jaw-dropping speeds upside down with only a latch keeping them safely strapped in.
A video posted last summer on YouTube of a father on one such ride with his daughter, which has started to go viral on the Web more recently, showcases just this dichotomy.
Words can’t really describe some of the sounds the father makes during the ride, which the YouTube uploader describes as the “Screaming Pigeon” at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. At one point dad screams “Never again Grace Elizabeth!”

Right when dad starts to raise his hands in joy that the ride is slowing down, he finds out it goes for another round. With a roll of his eyes, he graciously says “I’ll do it again with you, honey.” He does ask a park employee to confirm that doesn’t get any more intense than what he just experienced though.

Although you may think you only need to watch the first half of the video if the ride just repeats itself, it is still worth watching all the way through. The dad’s reaction during the second round is just as priceless and toward the end one can assume from the look on his face that dad may not be feeling too hot.

Watch the more than three minutes of amusement ride torture for yourself (Warning: Some strong language):
One recent comment on the video says this dad deserves a father of the year award. Do you agree?

Posted on June 27, 2012 at 1:22pmNot liking it does not make him a sissy. Some people just don’t like rides like that. Good job disregarding your fears for your daughters enjoyment.

Posted on June 27, 2012 at 2:32pmI personally hate rides like that so I feel his pain, but while watching the video I couldn’t help but think he is a good Father for doing it a second time because she was enjoying it.

Posted on June 27, 2012 at 3:53pmI use to go on the rollercoasters at Disneland and Knotts Berry Farm. never a gain. my body had enough going on the rides. Now I just sit on a bench and watch my kids on the rollercosters. It is more safe on the ground.

Posted on June 30, 2012 at 9:09pmI think this guy is acting just so he can get attention. IMO…This is a ride for kids. I have been on wilder rides and seen people his age and older getting right back on again. And if he is not acting, he should never go on another ride, again.

Posted on June 27, 2012 at 12:48pmI had a similar experience a few years ago at Cleveland’s “I-X Indoor Amusement Park,” with that stupid viking boat ride. Thought for sure I was gonna fly out and die. I was screaming like a little girl, while my little girl was screaming with delight!
P.S. Until you have ridden the “Griffon” at Williamsburg, Virginia’s Busch Gardens, you do NOT know fear!

Posted on June 27, 2012 at 3:03pmI love the Griffon, I don’t understand you sane people, with your fear of being dangled 250 feet in the air for 8 seconds.

I’ll say! I laughed until tears came from my eyes.
Bless this Dad, though, for going through that for his daughter. Twice. And he is clearly not faking his fear. I was wondering if he was going to need help exiting the ride.
While I would like to think that I would do the same, I’m immensely grateful that there are none of those things around here.

Posted on June 27, 2012 at 10:59amI went through this type of thing at Geauga Lake many years ago… for my boy… never again but… I did it. I found out what I had eaten for Thanksgiving when I was 10 I think. This guy deserves the award for not only doing it once but looks like a repeat. It is amazing what people will do for a thrill… I have had enough in my life, not of my own accord. God Bless all Fathers and Grandfathers who will do this for the smile of a child.
