New Book Claims the Nazis Trained Dogs to Read and Speak During WWII

An interesting historical tidbit is that Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, while horrific toward his fellow man, had a deep love for dogs.

But, what most people likely don’t know is that the evil dictator worked fervently with experts in an attempt to teach canines how to read and speak. In a story that reads as though it came straight from an untrustworthy tabloid, The Telegraph covers newfound research that substantiates this larger-than-life claim.

The Telegraph reports:

The Germans viewed canines as being almost as intelligent as humans and attempted to build an army of fearsome ‘speaking’ dogs, extraordinary new research shows.

Hitler hoped the clever creatures would learn to communicate with their SS masters – and he even had a special dog school set up to teach them to talk.

The incredible findings show Nazi officials recruited so-called educated dogs from all over Germany and trained them to speak and tap out signals using their paws.

One mutt was said to have uttered the words ‘Mein Fuhrer’ when asked who Adolf Hitler was.

Another ‘spoke’ by tapping letters of the alphabet with his paws and was said to have speculated about religion and learnt poetry.

Mail Online reminds us that, “Hitler himself had two German Shepherds called Blondi and Bella. He killed Blondi moments before committing suicide in his bunker in 1945.”

Seem unbelievable? After years of information collecting and research, academic Dr. Jan Bondeson published these astounding findings in his book “Amazing Dogs: A Cabinet of Canine Curiosities.”  Bondeson explains the fascinating fact that the Nazis, despite their disregard for human life, had a distinct element in their “party platform” that required them to bond with nature. He says that, “…they believed a good Nazi should be an animal friend.”

    The only reason birds that talk seem more intelligent than dogs is because of a special engineering of their vocal chords allowing them to speak. Expect that surgery on dogs to allow them to speak will uncover one of the most requested prayers God receives from dog owners.     I’ve said before, the next dog I get I’m going to name Obama. I’ll teach him to chase the neighbors cats, kill squirrils all up and down the street, poop in the neighbors yards, howl all through the night, wear a burka, and then I’ll have it put down after posting a classified ad in the local paper announcing the deed. The only reason I might have a change of heart is because dogs are better creatures than our President. Not very nice huh?     Training dogs to read and write is a major challenge. But teaching a liberal to support the good guys on our side instead our enemies the terrorists would probably be a waste of time!

    Unlike liberals, dogs know where their loyalties lie! They have more sense.

    Hitler was a despicable person, there is no question about that He was also very fond of dogs, and this new evidence of dog schools is not surprising. The germans saw the benefits of using dogs in many areas.
    The American military has made great use of dogs, and is considered the most adept at training dogs to meet the challenges of modern warfare.

      Please bear with me, as this is only on topic inasmuch as it is in response to the apparently veiled point of a previous poster’s provocative remark concerning Tea Party members.

      Iran’s population is 98% Muslim.

      That country, arguably not even among the most oppressive on earth, has already outlawed things like Facebook, YouTube, satellite TV, and decadent haircuts, and is now considering banning dog ownership.

      But there is a faction that belittles as bigoted and ignorant, anybody who criticizes the underlying religious dogma upon which such oppressive laws are clearly based. (and yes, I know there is a difference between Sharia and customary law)

      There are some who compare said critics with those who would make generalizations about judging the majority of Christians based on the teachings of one man in California.

      I see a disconnect.

      For example, virtually all Christians outside of his small sect had openly, adamantly discounted the eschatological assertions of Harold Camping.

      Meanwhile, a prominent Muslim Brotherhood leader, Kamal el-Helbawy, praises Ahmadinejad and the Iranian regime.

      Am I a bigot if I perceive there is a dearth of those of the Islamic persuasion most loudly touting their peaceful foundation, who are also willing to denounce the likes of Hamas and the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood?

      Strangely, it seems that some of the few who are, are more likely to be seen as guests on the Glenn Beck program. What a narrow-minded nut,

      NOTAMUSHROOM: I love the honesty. I trie to analyze everything from a very objective point of view realizing that there are always at least 3 sides to every issue. I grow more confident in my undersanding of history day by day; however, I’ll have to admit that I do not fully understand or comprehend the Biblical view of the Jew in the Bible. I certainly do not believe it is as simple as many on the Blaze or GB/Pastor Hagge would have us to believe.

      I will be labeled an anti-Semite because of my views but I believe the Jewish control of the Media is the number one problem not only in the US but the entire World. I don’t even mind them having all the money, I’m just repulsed by the fact that they take that money buy up all the Media outlets and push their Marxist ideology upon a mostly Christian people. Further exacerbating the problem is that it is working. Christianity is either becoming diluted or outright rejected by more and more across Western Civ. Basically soceity has become unhinged and the primary culprit for it imo is the Media.

      If you ever have any concern or question about my post speak out.. Hell I may be totally off base but I’m just trying to understand our times and the situation we find ourselves in like everyone else. Although by injecting the Jewish role into the subject I become a lightening rod.. Unfortunately it can’t be overlooked.

      Hey, now, Jabber- One of those dogs is a Scottie, a breed that is notoriously INDEPENDENT, not liberal.
      He obviously was there as a secret double naught spy.

      I saw a sign one day in someone’s yard that said “Talking dog for sale”. I got out of my car and was going to knock on the front door until I spotted the dog. Not knowing if he would bite, I asked him “Are you the talking dog?“ I almost fell off the porch when he replied ”Yes, that’s me.” (Now that I think about it, he WAS a German shepherd!) I said to him “Well, tell me more. How did you learn to talk?“ He said ”It was during the war. They trained me as a spy. I could just walk up to people and lie down and they’d continue their conversation as they rubbed my head or shared their food with me. Then I‘d go back and report what I’d heard. Eventually, I got too old for it and they send me back here. I met a cute beagle, had a couple of pups….and well, you know the rest. Here I am.” Just then the owner opened the door. I asked “How much for the dog?“ ”$25″ he replied. I said “You’re kidding? This dog is amazing! Why just $25?“ He said ”I bet he told you about being in the war, didn’t he?“ I said ”Yes, he did.“ He said ”That‘s why he’s only $25. He always tells lies like that. He was never in the service, much less in a war.” So I left. After all, there’s nothing worse than a lying dog.
