New Broadway Musical Attacks Muslims, er. . . Mormons. Ok, Continue…

It‘s been called ’Broadway’s most offensive musical.’

‘Koran, The Musical’ is opening on Broadway and there is quite a buzz about this musical comedy.

The show reportedly features catchy songs that will no doubt be vying for Tony Award nominations, songs like ‘F*ck you, Allah.’

The play tells the hilarious tales of two Islamic missionaries, one happens to be a bumbling fool who has not read the holy book, choosing instead to mix in parts of ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’ in his preaching. We follow the duo in their side-splitting antics, as they spread their message in North Africa, dealing with local people who believe that raping children is the only way to cure AIDS.

Mocking religion, cursing at God and child rape. . .  Sounds like a fun night in the theater, no? How could a show that mocks Islam and pins comedy on the rape of children be allowed to open?  Aren’t the producers, writers and performers afraid of death threats from Islamic fundamentalists?

There is a very simple answer to those questions.  The musical comedy is NOT about Islam.

There is no outrage from the Islamic community because there is no song called ‘F*ck you, Allah’ – the song in this show is titled, ‘F*ck you, God’ and the musical just opened is called ‘The Book of Mormon’ and obviously it is about Mormons and the Mormon faith.  The play came to Broadway via South Park’s Matt Stone and Trey Parker, with an assist from ‘Avenue Q’ writer Bobby Lopez.

The initial announcement about the musical raised concerns a year ago:

Stone and Parker are not outwardly religious people, in fact, Stone calls himself an atheist.  Both have made hundreds of millions of dollars tip-toeing along the lines of what might be considered offensive.  Just a year ago they were threatened by Muslim extremists after an episode of their cartoon South Park featured the prophet Muhammed as a Teddy Bear.

There is currently no wave of anger building against this show, but then again the ‘charm offensive’ has been in full swing with the show’s producers working overtime to pre-emptively strike against any negative press that might arise. Parker and Stone have been more visible on this project than any other in recent memory, or perhaps there is more interest from the mainstream media.  Mr. Parker calls the show; ‘an atheist’s love letter to religion.’

One interview on the history of the play seems to sarcastically predict that the Mormons will embrace the show and shower Parker and Stone with gifts.

At the show’s premiere in late March, the local New York City media was on hand to cover the event and let the world know what celebrities (America‘s real ’chosen’ people) thought about this musical called ‘Broadway’s most offensive.’

USA Today re-printed a review from the Salt Lake City Tribune that claimed :

Mormons find musical ‘Book of Mormon’ surprisingly sweet

It should be noted that the Salt Lake City Tribune is a newspaper known to have had an anti-Mormon editorial position, so one might not be surprised by the Tribune’s support for a play that mocks or parodies the Mormon faith.

As previews wrapped up the New York Post printed a story about the opening of the play that explained just how far the basic cable shockmeisters have gone:

For the debut of their first Broadway musical, “The Book of Mormon,” which is currently in previews at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre and opens on Thursday, the disclaimer has been toned down to a mere “Contains explicit language.” Which doesn’t necessarily prepare audiences for repeated lines such as “I’m going to go out and rape a baby” — a riposte that gets laughs every time.

Baby rape?  Really?  Has the Broadway of Rogers and Hammerstein really fallen this far? Apparently so.

And yet with all of the warnings posted, anyone offended by the show, has only themselves to blame.  As Matt Stone tells reuters.com:

“If you can’t watch an average episode of “South Park” with your kids, you probably shouldn’t bring them to the musical. But it‘s by far not the rawest or filthiest thing we’ve ever done. We could do much more.”

You could do much more? It is good to know that the brains behind an animated show with a character named ‘Mr. Hankey,’ a character that good taste standards prohibit us from describing or even explaining here, have held back something.

Perhaps we should consider ourselves lucky.

The goal of this “musical” is to:

attack christians in general and mormons in particular
vent gay hate of mormons because mormons beath them in blue land California
ridiciule Romney and Huntsman and help Obama in 2012

People are foolish to fail to see this deformed imitation of Leni Riefenstahl type propaganda for what it is although it.

freedom is tough., you gotta take the good with the bad. Let the free market decide it’s fate. It does no good to be offended, just don’t go see it. Its very simple. People getting offended and trying to do something to stop the offending has destroyed our country. So many stupid laws and contradictory prohibitions have diluted freedom and people act surprised that we are on the brink of losing everything.

Toward the end of the 2008 Republican primaries it was a choice between McCain, Romney and Huckabee. None of them had great credentials as a conservative of long standing. Huckabee was another big govermnet conservative. Romney seemed too slick and to have discovered conservative principles too recently. McCain was, well, McCain.

We shouldn’t want any of these guys. We need a REAL conservative. Romney will not do it. His religion IS a problem, because Mormonism shows itself to have a problem with openness. It hides too much and trains its faithful to be dissembling about the faith. That makes people like me wonder whether we can trust Romney to be open and truthful about what his political philosophy really is.

You say, “We don’t want to live in a society where we will be told what is right and what is wrong.”

What sort of society do you want to live in? The kind where anything goes? Where there is no right or wrong? Is murder right or wrong? Rape? Kidnapping? Assult? A society is defined by the rules, ie. laws, it espouses. And rules/laws, by their nature, define right and wrong behaviors. Wrong behaviors are generally considered to be detrimental to the society as a whole and the individual in particular and, therefore, are determined, by that society, to be unlawful.
If you are merely saying you don’t want to be told what to think (or what to see on Broadway), that is an entirely different matter. And you should have been more specific in you comment. Far be it from me to keep you from viewing a production that appears to be the epitome of bad taste and poor judgement.

@Cult. Your ignorance is profound. Mormonism is a cult no more than the splintered Baptist faith which from one block to the next live by different sets of standards. Mainstream religion makes themselves feel good because to the outside world they label themselves as Baptist, Church of Christ, etc… Inside their walls things change and their rules are all over the map due to their interpretation of the Bible.

Mormonism is a cult, but I still think the play is disgusting. 1) Mormons believe they are the only true church. Non-Mormons are called Gentiles. 2) Mormons believe the President or Prophet of the Church is to be the sole spokesman and revelator of God. All revelations are made scripture and no Mormon can attain godhood without accepting Joseph Smith as a true prophet. 3) Mormons accept four books as scripture and the word of God. The King James Version of the Bible, but only as far as it is translated correctly, allowing for possible questions about its authority. Joseph Smith made over 600 alterations to its text. Other works include the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price. The Bible is missing plain and precious parts according to the Book of Mormon which the other three volumes complete. The Bible explicitly warns against adding to or detracting from its teaching (Rev. 22:18; Deut. 4:2 4) Elohim, the god of this universe, was previously a man in a prior existence. As a result of having kept the requirements of Mormonism, he was exalted to godhood and inherited his own universe. God is confined to a body of flesh and bones and yet is thought to be omniscient and omnipotent. He obviously connot be omnipresent. There are an infinite number of gods with their own worlds, these too were previously men. The Holy Ghost, Jesus Christ, and Heavenly Father comprise three separate and distinct gods. Heavenly Father sires spiritual children in heaven destined for human life on earth. All humans, as well as Jesus Christ and Lucifer, are god’s heavenly children. I could go on about baptism for the dead and other heresies but that is enough to show that Mormonism is a cult and is not even Christian.

I got this from Mark Tripp’s fairlds link, from the article, “Joseph the Seer—or Why Did He Translate With a Rock in His Hat?”:

“The cunning men and women exhibited their extraordinary talents in many ways, but there is one that provides the backdrop against which young Joseph Smith is more clearly defined. He belonged to a class of cunning men whose specialty was scrying, or seeing the hidden. It was a specialty with a very long and almost universal history. Anthropologist Andrew Lang, writing in 1905, describes the tools of their trade:

‘Not only is the plain crystal, or its congener the black stone, used, together with its first cousin the mirror, and the primitive substitute of water, but almost any bright object seems to have been employed at one time or another. Thus we find the sword among the Romans; and in mediaeval Europe polished iron . . . lamp-black is sometimes smeared on the hand, or. . . a pool of ink poured into it; visions are seen in smoke and flame, in black boxes, in jugs, and on white paper. . . .’

All of these methods sound strange to our modern ears, but they were not only accepted but revered for most of human history.”

It was also known as witchcraft. Yes, many peoples practiced such “arts”, even those calling themselves Christian, as do some palm readers and spirit guides today.

The strongest evidence that they are a cult is their own teachings. Setting aside the sci-fi Ron Hubbard aspect, the there is proof outside of religon for the historial locations, people and events described in the Bible. Leaving out the miracles, 90% of the bible can be proven. The same is not true for the Book of Mormon, there is no historical proof for the tall tales Smith came up with when he conned his followers.

That and even prior to 2001, September 11th was the anniversary of the religious fanaticals murdering innocent American citizens. In 1857 Mormons gunned American settlers, either Bringham Young ordered the attack or at least covered it up.

“Hate speech”? That very term is offensive and anyone invoking it should be ashamed. Only liberals seek to mark out speech as hateful and so put it below the level of protection because of what the speeker believes.

Matt and Trey are mocking religion. That is their right, and if your religion were sound and healthy you wouldn’t find anything threatening in it. Christians can answer mockery. Muslims seems not to be able to. Are Mormons little different from Muslims except less violent?

If you can‘t stand the ridicule don’t have ridiculous beliefs. America wasn’t built upon slavish deference to religion, not was it built upon fear of religion. True religion can handle itself in the free market.

I’m really uncomfortable reading your posts. You use the image of Christ as your profile picture, yet your posts are filled with guile and hatred. You may think the Book of Mormon is bogus, as do many, but that does not nullify the incredible amount of good the mormons do for others…countless volunteers, thousands of donations funneled around the world to give the poor medicine, food, education, disaster relief . Isn’t there a scripture somewhere in the Book of Matthew, “what you do to the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me?”. You know, if the book of mormon isn’t true, then whatever, but that can never take away the good works of the members.

JBTUFFGIRL, I make the Christos Pantocrator my icon becuase it is a reminder of who I seek to be.

Being nice and loving as a Christian never means tolerating damn lies as anything other. If the book of Mormon is false it is leading people into hell. Is that a good work? I wish all Mormons would know the love of Christ as I do. Remember how Jesus dealt with the Pharisees. Nice doesn’t describe his hatred for the bondage they laid upon they people. Yet he recognized that they were trying to be righteous, “Unless your righteousness exceeds that of the pharisees” etc. Bad religion kills the soul. Jesus hated the traditions of th Pharisees. Paul hated the legalism of the Judaizers. John hated the gnosticism of early Christian heretics.

Yes, many Mormons do good works. That is great. Good works are good. But salvation does not come of them. If I have to choose between a church that preaches the saving message of Jesus but presents a mixed bag of Christian morality on the one hand and on the other hand a church that appears very loving and righteous but preaches a Gospel that obscures the truth of Christ I will always choose the messy Gospel centered church, since perfect morality will never be attained by us this side of the resurrection but a perfect life saving Gospel can be.

You say that my comments are full of guile. Guile means cunning and deception. I have never been anything but honest. If I was less honest I would be nicer. I say what I believe and mean what I say. If you find my comments tricky perhaps that is really because you can’t find a way to easily refute them. I have often encountered people who respond to solid arguments by claiming I was playing some game or trick, yet they never show what the trick is. It is a cheap way to avoid admitting your own arguments are poor.

The Blaze says Truth has no Agenda. Let me tell you it also often has little courtesy. The saying “truth hurts” should tell you that.

You Mormons complain about being us attacking you. May I ask you to get off your high horse and remember that, according to your own prophet Joseph Smith, all other churches besides your own are false and have corrupted the faith. If you want to know who started the “fight” it is your side. So unless you are going to renounce what your prophet said about other churches don’t come to us and demand that we respect your religion when we know damn well what you teach about ours. That is a form of dishonesty, or guile.

I have much more respect for Christopher Hitchens in his honest hatred for religion than I do for those who claim to love God but will not be honest about what they believe. I despise trickery above even mere falsehood, for a man may honestly believe a lie, but at least I can talk to him without thinking that the meaning of things will be changed to suit his argument. A man who will hide his beliefs or change the meanings of words cannot be trusted even to tell you what time it is. If he told me the sun was shining I would still check the sky.

Your words don’t hurt. Maybe you wish they did? I see goodness all around me. People helping other people is as close to Christlike as I can imagine. The acts of service are powerful. I weep every time I watch the secret millionaire. Christ like actions are all around us. Good comes in all shapes and sizes. Not just Mormon. I am not the Judge or the Jury. I would not dare say who is going to Heaven or Hell. I know that our God is loving, merciful and just. I hope that he smiles upon what you are trying to do, it is only my personal opinion that there is a better way to do it. Preaching the good news of Christ vs. telling a person they are damned to hell for believing j. smith is a prophet are certainly two very different approaches to the same goal. My criticism of you is simply your tone and manner on the subject. If offends me to see the face of Christ as the front to your methods. There is no debate on the subject. The subject is almost irrelevant We can agree to disagree on the mormons. I just don’t admire your method of teaching. In politics, mud-slinging is the lowest form of campaigning. to put it simply…that’s literally how I see your approach.

Welcome to America. For good or for bad, we have free speech. I personally find that understanding who hates me is a cleansing experience. I am not LDS, I do not agree with mormonism. However, you are free to worship as you please as long as it doesn’t infringe on others. Being a strict Bible believing Christian gets me all kinds of hate. Anytime you point out a Biblical fact or passage that calls a religious tradition or ritual into question you are just completely villified. The word of God is the word of God. Religion is antithesis to God. Consider yourself special, get closer to your family, and practice your faith. What are they going to do …..stone you to death?? Let the dead bury their dead and move on.

Alright so Ive been trying to restrain myself from posting on this, but all of your responses are really horribly way off. The South Park creators are NOT in the Hollywood left. Seriously. They are not funded by or working for anything in the left. Relax people. You are all blowing this way out of proportion. Remember what Glenn says? Don’t just read a story and believe it. A) Investigate for yourself B) Make your own judgement based on your findings. So in this circumstance, WATCH SOUTHPARK BEFORE YOU TRASH IT! It is hilarious (at times) and acts as a great social commentary. They attack the hollywood left (quite often actually), particularly in the movie Team America. They also tackle problems like censorship, the failing economy, animal rights groups (and hippies), homelessness, religion (all types), current trend obsessions, parenting, and government stupidity. Stone and Parker don’t hate any one particular religion more than any other. But they also don’t mean any harm. They enjoy your absurd reactions because it brings attention to their work. Let them do what they do and if you are offended (which you shouldn’t be) just ignore it. They don’t spread hate and they are not a front for liberal agenda. I promise

It turns out the main characters, stan, kile, eric, kenny, were the “bad-guys” for being intolerant of others peoples beliefs. so,once again, glenn and his crack team get a another epic FAIL!!! just more half -truths,incomplete info dribble from the mormon version of john hagee.

That said I do believe South Park took an easy road when considering the current events of today. With all going on in the world presently if they were going to do an attack, Islam would have been the obvious and timely choice. The facts are that they are too afraid to attack them as they felt the backlash in their very mild attack previously. So they like all cowards go after an easy target. @VERUCA SALT,

When the Blaze deletes a comment is often after several have reported the post as offensive. The comments that are in reply to that offensive comment are then moved to another page. If you go through the comment pages you will find your comments and the others on other pages. I do not like when that happens as then many times the comments in reply have to stand on their own and many times no longer make sense as they are in reply to a comments that are no longer in the order they once were.

It is kind of like the Holy Bible when evil men took many plain and precious truths away from it there are still many references of true gospel principles but they are no longer practiced because Churches led by men have not been able to understand what their significance is or what those fragmented truths and bits and pieces truly mean. That is not so with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They have the fullness of the gospel but it was not copied from the Bible, Joseph Smith was an instrument in the Lord’s hands in restoring these truths that had been lost from the Earth and the loss of which had such an impact the entire world was in a period of spiritual darkness for hundreds of years, even the secular world calls this time the Dark Ages. When Jesus Christ was on the Earth he organized his Church with the foundation being apostles and prophets. After he went back to Heaven after his crucifixion, one by one his apostles were killed and with the foundation gone a great falling away took place and the church went in to apostasy and the apostolic authority was lost from the earth. Several honorable men from time to time such as Martin Luther recognized that those who claimed to have the apostolic authority were very corrupted and were not following the true gospel of Jesus Christ. This had been prophesied in the Bible that it would have to happen and a restoration of all things would take place. Joseph Smith was the one who Heavenly Father chose to restore his church through and regardless of all the evil and accusations of men, he was a faithful servant. A young man with much less than a high school education, translated the Book of Mormon, also recorded the revelations given him in the Doctrine and Covenants, The Pearl of Great Price and restored the true Church of Jesus Christ back to the earth. A church that all began with a faithful heartfelt prayer of a 14 year old boy who was reading in the Bible in the Book of James that if any man lack wisdom let him ask of God and it should be given him. Soon after this restoration took place the industrial revolution took place and the secular world refers to this period as the age of enlightment.

Joseph Smith did not provide a clear understanding of the Bible he completely contradicted it totally!!!! Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price, the KJV takes kind of a backseat to these. The ultimate authority for a Mormon comes from the living apostles and prophets, especially the President (the “voice of God” on Earth). It does not in anyway supplement the teachings of Christ. This is plain to anyone who wants to lQQk into the matter on even a superficial level. We will never be a god—-EVER. There is only one who was, is and will be God !!!!!!!!

      @WATCHTHEOTHERHAND,

I went and watched the video that you supplied the link to and found it very poorly done. The guy makes statements and purposely blurs out the supposed sources of where he got that particular point. Anyone who is a critical thinker can obviously immediately recognize this guy has an agenda. For starters he is in a church and why isn’t he spending his time testifying of Christ and sharing the gospel which he believes in instead of attacking another churches beliefs. With each of those accusations and statements he should give a treasure trove of references and sources for the sincere and diligent truth seeker to research for himself and should say do not take my word for this find out for yourself. Instead he wants his listeners to take everything he says at face value as fact.

I further went and did a Google search of Andy Viamontes who done the video. For starters he hasn’t even filled out his Google profile and his facebook and twitter accounts are private. That is about all I could find on him. In comparison my 20 year old son has 100 times more information and achievements that are documented from newspapers stories etc. If you go to the link I provided and go and look for more information you will in contrast find enough cross references, links, and further information to last a lifetime of research. Your source of information is very questionable, untrustworthy and the honest truth seeker cannot even find any information to research the character of the one making the accusations and charges. Come on I would expect much more of one who listens to Glenn Beck. Research is not finding the first video you come across on youtube that is of a like mind and posting it as a source.

PROUD, The killer part of the video WATCH linked to was what the MORON said when he denied the free gift of justification through Grace. He said you don’t get anything free.

The real pronb;lem about Mormonism, beyond their twisted view of who and what God is and who Jesus is, is that they load their faithful with a burden of work’s righteousness.

I once asked a Muslim on the street when I was doing evangelism whether he believed that God loved him. Hios best answerr was that he “hoped” that God did. He had no assurance. Likewise the Mormons interviewed had little assurance they would attains the heavenly reward they sought because they didn’t know if they would make it.

That was no spin on the part of anti-Mormon evangelists. That was what these young Mormons said they believed. To not have confidence in the love of God and his grace poured out on us regardless of our miswerable works, THAT is a heavy burden. I will fight tooth and nail to keep that demonic burden from being shackled to anyone.

PROUD, the ability to write imaginative fiction is no proof of divine authorship. J.R.R. tolkein would skoff at the attribution. Joseph Smith could well have created his work over many months or even years before he began the act of “translation”. I have created works of fiction myself. Some have taken me months to work out th e kinks. Others seemed to flow naturally and immediately. Often I have the whole thing worked out in my head before I put anything to paper.

But let us even suppose that Smith’s feat involved a supernatural aid. that is still no proof that the supernatural power was divine. I am not of the inclination to believe that demons cannot appear to those who open themselves up to them. Since it is acknowledged that he was a known diviner, an art too close to the ocult for most Christians, there is a real possibility that demonic deception may have played a part in his finding the Tablets and interpreting them.

If you could show that Mormons drove out demons that would go a long way to disproving my demon theory about Smith, since demons do not drive out demons.

Gah, I feel dirty just reading about this and I’m not a Mormon.

for a person who uses the image of Christ as their profile picture….you spend a little too much time persecuting others. I said it in a reply to another one of your posts…there is a scripture in Matthew where the king says, what you do to the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto Me.

Regardless of whether the Book of Mormon is Fact of Fiction…what is fact is the thousands, and probably millions of dollars of charity and service given by the mormons and their church to the needy world wide, regardless of race, religion or creed. Why don’t you spend time, spreading the good word you have, serving others and strengthening your relationship with your God,….and a little less time destroying and beating down the faith of others. A wise salesman once told me, selling inferior products means you have to destroy your competitors, but when you have something superior, you simply need to show people what you have to offer because the product will speak for itself.

You are also very good at casting stones. You are such a refined religious person, so you must know what Christ taught about casting stones. As for me? I’m not perfect, but I know people helping other people when I see it. I saw Mormons in Katrina, I saw mormons helping my friends move. My friend who is in medical school, and couldn’t afford to clean up his yard, his mormon buddy brought a load of guys, sod, plants and gave his front yard a makeover. Wacky beliefs? Maybe. Incredible people? Definitely.

      ISLESFORDIAN,

You obviously did not closely examine the link or you do not have a very good understanding of how the Book of Mormon came into being and I doubt that you have read it and prayed about it. God makes a promise in the Book of Mormon that if you will sincerely read it and pray about it he will let you know of its truthfulness. No other book on Earth exposes satan and evil as plainly as the Book of Mormon does. He did have a total of 11 other witnesses who did see the Gold plates and 3 who not only seen and felt them but also seen the angel Moroni who delivered them to Joseph Smith.

and when you want to learn abut a Muslim I guess you buy what they say too? Keep pulling stuff out of your hat it will never stand up to truth our logic. Mormons are to Christianity what Islam is to Judaism. Both are a bastardization of the truth one is 99% evil (Islam) and the other (Mormons) is only a few little lies, but is not the best lie 99% truth.
Copied so it can be riposted when scrubbed:)

“God makes a promise in the Book of Mormon that if you will sincerely read it and pray about it he will let you know of its truthfulness. ”

God has never made a promise like that before. Why would he? What would it prove? If I prayed and decided that the Book of Mormon was false, would you accept that? No. You would just say I hadn’t read it sincerely. This is no different that the arguments over Global warming science. Gore claims all “real” scientists accept it. Any other scientist who doesn‘t is proclaimed not to be a real scientist because he doesn’t accept the scientific truth of Global Warming. And around and around it goes.

Is there any objective proof you can give for the book of Mormon that couldn’t be used for any other so-called revelation? Could not Islam pass your test? Scientology? Jehova’s Witness?

You say Mormons do good work. So have non-Mormons.
You say that it is a church of 15 million. Muslims have 500 times that.
Islam spread faster than any other religion in the world. It also has lost less ground than any other faith.

None of these facts constitutes proof of divine origin.

      @ME,

Actually I did begin reading the Koran and the Spirit I felt when reading it clearly was not from the Lord. When I read the Book of Mormon the spirit I felt clearly was from the Lord. The Holy Spirit teaches and guides you into the truth of all things and would never lead one astray. I have that feeling every time I read the Book of Mormon and tested the Book of Mormon promise that states In Moroni 10:3-5. 3)Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts. 4) And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. 5) And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things. I read and pondered on the Book of Mormon and the Holy Ghost did manifest the truth of it unto me.

Both the Book of Mormon and the Koran were both very unfamiliar and foreign to me when I read them, as I was raised and grew up reading, learning and loving The Holy Bible only, and as I read the Book of Mormon the spirit I felt was a strong confirmation of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and a very uneasy and uncomfortable feeling with the Koran. I stand as a witness to the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon that it is truly the word of God and will never deny it.

When I read the Book of Mormon the Holy spirit confirms what I see: a forgery and fruad, and not a good one. It is not another Testament of Jesus in the sense of being a second one. It is “another” in the sense of being different. It shows a Christ and Gospel other than what the Bible does. How could anyone who accepted the Bible accept the book of Mormon as true? There is no sense in it. Smith said the Bible was incomplete because men had taken truths out of it. But how is Smith to be trusted is saying that the Bible isn’t to be trusted if it contradicts him? A feeling inside that the Spirit is telling you to believe in Smith? What kind of trust could you have had in the Bible, what kind of loyalty, if a mere feeling can lead you to distrust the Word of God.

Your testmony is worthless is this is your witness, for you already show yourself to be a redd blown in the wind.

They didn’t start this musical themselves. Someone they knew mentioned an interest in doing a musical about Mormonism. These guys are obsessed with Mormons because they grew up in Colorado, and were constantly exposed to them. Trey Parker loves musicals (he was a music major), and jumped at the chance. The rest of the story was predictable, but not mean-spirited. Besides, these two are anything but cowards. These guys skewer the left constantly. They are the bravest satirists in the country! Their episode about Beck was very shallow, but they have episodes like, “die hippy, die“ and ”Osama Bin Laden has poopy pants”. Their movie “Team America” ripped the hollywood liberals to shreds. Nobody criticizes Islam as hard as these two. So they have a twisted sense of humor, that’s it.

A personal favorite was in an episode where a character died and found himself in hell. He‘s standing there and it’s an orientation for all the new arrivals. Some of the new arrivals are confused why they are there. One asks, “I was a devout protestant, why am I here?” There are a couple other similar questions. Then the person running the orientation responds. “Oh, I’m sorry . . . The correct answer was Mormon” It’s just their way of expressing the frustration of seeing every religion being certain that theirs is the only “real” one.

I have to agree with Isles on the meaning of this link claiming if the Book of Mormon couldn’t be repeated then it must be true. This completely baffles me as far as how it proves anything. You could say the same for War and Peace or Gone with the Wind. Everyone go home and try and write either one without any help. Can’t do it? Well that must mean that both these books are true and testaments of real and actual events. I’m sorry, the Book of Mormon contradicts the Bible and even itself on a consistent basis and therefore cannot be an addition to it. Any writing that contradicts the Bible is not a writing of Holy inspiration. If both were inspired by God, then neither would contradict each other. Entire sections of the Book of Mormon were lifted from a novel in the early 1800s and from the Bible itself. It saddens me people are trapped off by this obvious lie of a book. Everything you need is in the Bible. There’s no need for “another testament”.

The Book of Mormon episode on South Park was pretty tastefully done.

It summarized the two main takeaway points about Mormonism: 1) That it’s based on complete nonsense without a shred of archeological evidence, and 2) That it works for a lot of people, making a lot of families happy.

I could never believe in it, but I do acknowledge that it does work for a lot of people.

      proudconservative,

We are more alike then not, I am just a harsh person that see’s things in very black and white, I think there are many good people in many different faiths and judge most on there sincerity not if I think they are lead astray or not. At the same time I try to have no illusions about by self or my religion as well and see that most are bastardized by man in one way or another for me it all come down to.
Revelation 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

Revelation 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

If your really think these versus do not apply to Joseph Smith, Jr. then you can tell God when you stand before him, no need to convince me I know where I stand and it‘s with the KJB and that is all no man’s words no matter how they “feel” will lead me from that truth.

The comments against Mormons are appalling. We should be setting our differences aside and be standing together on moral grounds and The Constitution, not arguing over doctrinal differences. Let every man interpret God how they please and do their best to worship Him how they see fit.

This is not the time or place to argue over who is right or wrong. Now is the time to stand together against the True evils that wish to destroy America and our freedoms. Let God judge the rest…

“Revelation 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

Revelation 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”

Joseph Smith did not add nor take away from the revelations written by John while exiled on the isle of Patmos. The books of the bible were written as individual testaments by prophets of old. The King James bible did not come into existence until the seventeenth century, over a millenia after they were written. What then concerning the books written by prophets during or after John’s time? Are they in danger of hellfire? I doubt it.

Prophets write when God reveals himself. Joseph was acting in kind. Believe or deny, it is the truth. Is it really so hard to accept that God has once again set forth to declare his pure Gospel among the people of the world? Did God only speak to one people, in one location, at one point in history? Not so.

I’ll use the words from the Book of Mormon itself:

“Know ye not that there are more nations than one? Know ye not that I, the Lord your God, have created all men, and that I remember those who are upon the isles of the sea; and that I rule in the heavens above and in the earth beneath; and I bring forth my word unto the children of men, yea, even upon all the nations of the earth? Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word? Know ye not that the testimony of two nations is a witness unto you that I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another? Wherefore, I speak the same words unto one nation like unto another. And when the two nations shall run together the testimony of the two nations shall run together also. And I do this that I may prove unto many that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and that I speak forth my words according to mine own pleasure. And because that I have spoken one word ye need not suppose that I cannot speak another; for my work is not yet finished; neither shall it be until the end of man, neither from that time henceforth and forever.

The Book of Mormon is another testament of Christ, containing His pure Gospel, given to another people, who lived in another part of the world. It is absolutely vital to understand that the Bible does not contain the fullness of His Gospel. Again, the book describes it as thus:

“Wherefore, these things go forth from the Jews in purity unto the Gentiles, according to the truth which is in God. And after they go forth by the hand of the twelve apostles of the Lamb, from the Jews unto the Gentiles, thou seest the formation of that great and abominable church, which is most abominable above all other churches; for behold, they have taken away from the gospel of the Lamb many parts which are plain and most precious; and also many covenants of the Lord have they taken away. And all this have they done that they might pervert the right ways of the Lord, that they might blind the eyes and harden the hearts of the children of men. Wherefore, thou seest that after the book hath gone forth through the hands of the great and abominable church, that there are many plain and precious things taken away from the book, which is the book of the Lamb of God.”

The Book of Mormon restores that which was lost. Nothing more. It remained hidden from the machinations of Satan while the Bible was changed and diluted over the centuries. The Book of Mormon deserves, by its very nature and claim, serious study and reflection to determine its authenticity.
